I hesitated for a long time before watching this series, so highly praised by critics that I was afraid of being disappointed. I was wrong!! It deserves all the praise it receives \ \ \\٩(｡•ω•｡)و // / /

PLOT: Porsche, a former taekwondo champion and bartender, takes odd jobs (and illegal fights with bets) to support his brother and cover his uncle's debts. One evening, he comes to help Kinn, the head of a major mafia gang, whose life is constantly in danger. Kinn eventually convinces Porsche to become his bodyguard. Initially very reluctant, Porsche eventually finds his footing and becomes Kinn's lover. Kim (Kinn's younger brother, a bit of an outsider) takes Chay (Porsche's younger brother) under his wing. But the Villains are working behind the scenes to seize power in the Main Branch. And Porsche discovers that his recruitment hides other secrets.

+++ The actors are ALL fantastic! Mile, Apo, Bible, Build, Tong, ... have brought to life complex, tormented, and moving characters. ꒒ ০ ⌵ ୧ ♡ ꒒ ০ ⌵ ୧ ♡
+++ The tone is violent and very dark. The direction is perfect, without downtime or flaws: lighting, framing, sets, action scenes, intimate scenes, costumes... everything is impeccably crafted.
+++ The storyline is coherent (mostly, I think), realistic, and intelligent. I don't know what the message of this series is, but it makes you question good/evil, family, loyalty, and more.

=> I now understand the enthusiasm surrounding this series, which will remain in our memories for a long time, and rightly so!

Mais les Villains œuvrent en coulisse pr prendre le pouvoir de la Main Branch. Et Porsche découvre que son recrutement cache d'autres secrets.

+++ Les acteurs sont fantastiques TOUS ! Mile, Apo, Bible, Build, Tong , ... ont donné vie à des personnages complexes, tourmentés, émouvants ꒒ ০ ⌵ ୧ ♡ ꒒ ০ ⌵ ୧ ♡
+++ Le ton est violent, très sombre. La réalisation est parfaite, sans temps mort, sans défaut : lumières, cadrages, décors, scènes d'action, scènes intimes, costumes, ... tout est impeccablement travaillé.
+++ La storyline est cohérente (ou presque), réaliste, intelligente. Je ne sais pas quel est le message de cette série, mais on se questionne sur le bien / le mal, la famille, la loyauté, ...

=> Je comprends maintenant l'engouement autour de cette série qui restera longtemps en mémoire, et à juste titre !

Come discover the magic of Poom/Up

BL Mystery Action with Poom & Up (and I ship them) ヽ(♡‿♡)ノ

PLOT: Joe, a stuntman, is Tong's stand-in, performing all his action scenes (and more). He begins an strange relationship with Ming (the young heir to a large group), Tong's future brother-in-law (and clearly also in love with Tong). But he painfully realizes he's just a stand-in for Ming. Ming, incited by Tong, causes an incident that leads to Joe losing his contracts. Joe leaves with a foreign stunt team and dies in an accident. He wakes up in the body of another Joe, who also has connections to the film industry.

+++ Poom and Up are fabulous actors, full of nuance and micro-expressions. Their chemistry is fantastic, and I've become a die-hard fan of this pairing :)
+++ The story is coherent (if you accept the soul transfer :))
+++ The direction is efficient and well-paced; the sets, costumes, props, etc., are all up to the project's standards. The action scenes are convincing and well-executed.

### Sol, played by Porsche, is not convincing (acting skills, costumes, lack of charisma), and he's not the one I'd get a SLS from :)
### The role of the agencies, producers, etc., is unclear. I know there's a lot of power, influence, and money involved in these circles, but here, it's particularly confusing. Joe's agency, especially, is completely useless!!
### I regret that Tong remains unpunished for what he did. He's a nasty piece of work, but he's forgiven everything because he's going to have a child :( :(

=> Almost a masterpiece (a few flaws) thanks to the magic of Poom-Up (´♡‿♡`) (´♡‿♡`)

PLOT: Joe, cascadeur, est la doublure de Tong dont il assure ttes les scènes d'action. Il entame 1 liaison avec Ming (jeune héritier d'1 gros gpe), futur beau-frère frère de Tong (et visiblement aussi amoureux de Tong). Mais il prend douloureusement conscience qu'il n'est qu'un remplaçant pour Ming. Ming, incité par Tong, provoque 1 incident qui fait perdre ses contrats à Joe. Celui-ci part avec 1 équipe étrangère faire des cascades et meurt ds 1 accident. Il se réveille ds le corps d'1 autre Joe, ayant aussi des liens avec les cercles de tournage.

+++ Poom et Up sont des acteurs fabuleux, tout en nuances et micro-expressions. Leur alchimie est fantastique et je suis devenue une die-hard fan de ce couple :)
+++ Story cohérente (si on accepte le transfert d'âme :)
+++ Réalis° efficace, rythmée, les décors / costumes / accessoires / etc. sont à la hauteur du projet. Les scènes d'action sont convaincantes et bien travaillées.

### Sol, joué par Porsche, n'est pas convaincant (acting skills, costumes, manque de charisme) et ce n'est pas avec lui que j'aurai un SLS :)
### Le fctt des agences, producteurs, etc. n'est pas clair. Je sais qu'il y a bcp d'enjeu de pouvoir, d'influence, de finance, ... dans ces cercles-là, mais ici, c'est particulièrement confus. L'agence de Joe, en particulier, ne sert à rien !!
### Je regrette que Tong reste impuni pour ce qu'il a fait. C'est un sale type, mais tt lui est pardonné parce qu'il va avoir un enfant :( :(

A cute romance between Big and Park with a touch of fantasy

PLOT: Torn struggles with bad luck and odd jobs. He has a car accident that sends him to a parallel universe, inhabiting the body of Apo, a wealthy, arrogant, and "diva" heir, engaged to Suriya, the ML (a gay business marriage). Suriya quickly notices the differences because he can read the thoughts (like all the males in his family). Suriya will play along, teaching Torn how to play Apo, and ends up falling in love with Torn. But not everyone approves of this marriage...

+++ The CL Big & Park is intense, with incredible chemistry. As Virgievirgie noted in her review, their intimate scenes were so powerful that I felt like a voyeur ;) ;) Excellent! I wasn't familiar with them, but I'm going to watch Monster Next Door to see them together again.
+++ Effective direction: pacing, lighting, effects, framing... impeccable. The touch of humor pleasantly lightens the tone of the drama.
+++ The OSTs are not too intrusive and are really enjoyable.
+++ The story is relatively coherent, with a believable use of mindreading.

### Some of the characters' changes (ML's mother, ML's father) are too abrupt to be believable. The villain's ending is too rushed to be satisfying.

=> I've only recently started watching BL series, but shows of this quality make me want to see more :)

A cute romance beetween Big and Park with a touch of fantasy

PLOT: Torn, galère entre malchance et petits boulots. +++ Le CL Big & Park est intense, avec 1 alchimie d'enfer. Comme le notait Virgievirgie, leurs scènes intimes étaient tellement fortes que je me sentais voyeuse ;) ;) Excellents ! Je ne les connaissais pas mais je vais aller visionner Monster Next Door pr les revoir ensemble.
+++ Réalis° efficace : rythme, lumières, effets, cadrages, ... impeccables. La touche d'humour allège agréablement le ton du drama.
+++ OSTs pas trop intrusives et agréables.
+++ Story relativement cohérente, avec une utilisat° crédible du Mindreading.

### Certains revirements des personnages (ML's mother, ML's father) sont trop brusques pr être crédibles. La fin du Villain est trop rapide pr être satisfaisante.

She runs away and ends up with her yakuza boss (ML), moves in with him, and they eventually become a couple. However, ML is really the adopted son of a yakuza clan leader...

+++ Cute CL, subtle and very well acted by Totsuka Sotha and Konno Ayaka
+++ Lively direction and a coherent story. No Great Villain (or almost none).

### Too Japanese OST for me.
### Story with minimal violence, a bit "too soft", where the yakuza are polite, accept that people leave the clan, etc.

=> Light series, nice for spending an evening.

Cpdt, le ML est vraiment le fils adoptif d'un chef de clan yakuza ...

PLOT: Community life of neighbors (several families with their children) living around (and with) the canal.
Episodes 1-2: Childhood, Si-Yi's arrival and new boat
Episodes 2-20 : 2007, difficulties at the end of high school for everyone and their final year. Sale of the boat. Fenghua's modeling experience. Arrival of Si-Yi's brother, then the death of their grandmother.
Episodes 20-31: 2014 and beyond, work for everyone in Beijing in different sectors.
Episodes 31-38: Return to hometown

+++ Bai Lu (who even sports a boyish haircut and braces :) and Ou Hao, both fantastic.
+++ Superb cast (♡‿♡) that brings complex, endearing, and moving characters to life. Kudos!
+++ Realistic storyline, with excellent recreation of different eras (atmosphere, sets, props, etc.). Furthermore, the depiction of the life of working-class/poor families in Beijing is eye-opening!
+++ Flawless direction.

??? Some recurring elements in dramas never cease to amaze me:
1/ Mothers who abandon their children (Si Yi and her brother) without providing for them. And nobody seems to care??? How is the grandmother, poor, elderly, and ill, supposed to take care of the children? Aside from orphanages, there are no child welfare services?
2/ The "American-style" Chinese justice system (starting at the police station) where everything is negotiated between the parties, even the most serious offenses.

### Confucian culture where someone is sought to blame even in cases of accidents or unavoidable illness (‡▼益▼)
### I liked all the characters, except for two: Si Yi (sorry, I think her character lacks depth) and Xiao Hui (played by Chen Xin Xuan, who needs to improve her acting skills).

=> Nostalgic, moving, and realistic series. Well done !

Ep 1-2 : enfance, arrivée de Si-Yi et nouveau bateau
Ep 2 - 20 : année 2007, difficultés fin. pr tt le monde et dernière année de lycée. Vente de la péniche. Expérience de modeling de Fenghua. Arrivée du frère de SiYi puis mort de la gd-mère.
Ep 20 - 31 : année 2014 et suivantes, travail pr tous à Beijing ds différents secteurs.
Ep 31 - 38 : retour hometown

+++ Bai Lu (qui va jusqu'à la coupe garçonne et l'appareil dentaire :) et Ou Hao, fantastiques tous les deux.
+++ Superbe cast (´♡‿♡`) qui donne vie à des personnages complexes, attachants, émouvants. Kudos !

??? Certains faits récurrents ne cessent de m'étonner dans les dramas :
1/ Les mères qui abandonnent leur enfant (Si Yi et son frère) sans subvenir à leurs besoins. Et cela ne scandalise personne ??? Comment la gd-mère, pauvre, âgée, malade, est-elle censée prendre les enfants en charge ? A part les orphelinats, il n'y a aucun service d'aide aux enfants ?
2/ La justice chinoise "à l'américaine" (dès le commissariat de police) où tout se négocie entre les parties, même les faits les plus graves.
### Culture confucianiste où on cherche des responsables même en cas d'accident ou de maladie inévitable (‡▼益▼)

### J'ai aimé tous les personnages, sauf 2 : Si Yi (désolée, je pense que son personnage manque de profondeur) et Xiao Hui (joué par Chen Xin Xuan qui doit améliorer ses acting skills).

=> Série nostalgique, émouvante, réaliste. Bravo !

Fantastic job by the main leads !!

Series watched out of curiosity, due to its popularity.

PLOT: A young, poor, and lost ML (morality rather grey) is dumped by his (idiotic and greedy) girlfriend. He repeatedly crosses paths with ML2 (rich, gay/bisexual?, sploided, a snake lover, and with toxic behavior). Disheartened to see his ex-GF now flaunting herself with ML2, the ML decides to seduce him.

+++ The two main characters are fantastic and give their everything to make us believe in this story.
+++ The second romance is very cute and more mature.
+++ The budget is clearly limited, but the directors make good use of it. Excellent OSTs.

WOW (‡▼益▼) (‡▼益▼)
### Silly, poorly constructed storyline. The misogyny (ex GF is a pest) and homophobia are blatant!!
### The characters have inconsistent, illogical reasoning. They want us to believe that gay people don't think like everyone else...
### In this type of drama, all the men (or almost all) are gay. I'm aware that people mostly hang out with their own community, but here, it's too obvious. IRL, sexual orientation is more varied :)

+++ The storyline improves once the two couples are established. We return to the usual twists we can watch in heterosexual dramas, with consistent behavior, and then, we become attached to the characters.

=> I don't know how this drama got past the censorship, but kudos to the actors who are fantastic!!

N'étant pas une fan de BL, j'ai regardée cette série par curiosité, en raison de sa popularité

PLOT: 1 jeune ML, pauvre et paumé (moralité plutôt grey) est plaqué par sa petite amie (idiote et cupide). Il croise à plusieurs reprises le chemin du ML2 (riche, gay / bisexuel ?, sploided, aimant les serpents, au comportement toxique). Le ML, dépité de voir que son ex GF s'affiche désormais avec le ML2, décide de séduire celui-ci.

+++ Les 2 ML sont fantastiques et donnent tout pour nous faire croire à cette histoire.
+++ La 2e romance est très cute et plus mature.
+++ Le budget est visiblement limité, mais les réalisateurs en font un bon usage. Les OSTs sont excellentes.

### Storyline idiote, mal construite. La misogynie (ex GF est 1 peste) et l'homophobie sont évidentes !!

+++ La storyline s'améliore quand les 2 couples sont établis. On en revient aux twists habituels dans les séries hétéro et à des comportements cohérents et on s'attache aux personnages.

A very good Xianxia series, creative (a bit too much for my taste?)

Xianxia & Fantasy Series with Xu Kai and Tian Xi Wei ＼(＾▽＾)／

PLOT: The FL, a royal princess by day and a Demon Cat Lord by night, meets the ML, an incognito Taoist master who is searching for the cause of his parents' death. She is frivolous and cheerful, while he is austere. These two worlds collide. As events unfold, they fall in love and marry, despite their romantic rivals and their secrets.

+++ Super cute CL [Xu Kai and Tian Xi Wei] with beautiful chemistry.
+++ Dynamic direction and superb cinematography (sets, costumes, fight scenes, landscapes, framing and lighting, etc.).
+++ The actors are all talented and bring complex, well-developed characters to life.
+++ OSTs that accompany/support the emotions: epic, creepy, moving...
+++ I really like the ending, especially the scenes after the credits.

### A twisty story where you get a bit lost in the twists and turns, with unexpected/inconsistent character changes [Villain friend].

=> A very good Xianxia series, creative (a bit too much for my taste?)

Elle est frivole et enjouée, tandis que lui est austère. Ce sont 2 mondes qui se côtoient. Au fil des évènements, ils vont s'aimer, se marier malgré les rivaux amoureux et leurs secrets.

+++ Super cute CL [Xu Kai et Tian Xi Wei] avec une belle alchimie.
+++ Réalis° dynamique et une superbe cinématographie (décors, costumes, scènes de fight, paysages, cadrages et lumières, ...).
+++ Les acteurs sont tous talentueux et donnent vie à des personnages complexes, bien développés.
+++ OSTs qui accompagnent / soutiennent les émotions : épiques, flippantes, émouvantes.

A pleasant journey into 1926 Japan, but I won't be visiting again.

An investigative FL/ML duo in 1926 Japan

PLOT: The FL, born with a lie detector ability , leaves for the city to escape discrimination (against her "monster" side). She is taken in by the ML, a detective, and becomes his assistant.

++ Very good actors, warm and endearing characters.
++ Well-suited OSTs
++ Good recreation of the period (sets, costumes, cars, etc.). The clothes and accessories are really well-done and nice.

### Low-budget series (sets that feel a bit like a sitcom)
### Drama not addictive, even if it is enjoyable.
### What "ideal" image of women do Japanese scriptwriters want to convey? Here we again find the "shy little thing" stereotype, lacking in self-confidence, hardworking, good housekeeper, submissive, ... even though she has a superpower :). She's willing to assist the ML for the rest of her life, expecting nothing in return, not even a little romance :( :(

=> A pleasant journey into 1926 Japan, but I won't be visiting again.

PLOT: La FL, ayant un détecteur de mensonge, part en ville pr échapper à la discriminat°. Elle est accueillie par le ML, détective, dont elle devient l'assistante.

+++ Très bons acteurs, personnages chaleureux et attachants.
+++ OSTs bien adaptés
+++ Bonne reconstitut° de l'époque (décors, costumes, voitures, etc.). Les costumes et accessoires sont très beaux.

### Série low-budget (décors qui font un peu sit-com)
### Drama pas addictif, même s'il est agréable.
### Quelle image "idéale" de la femme les scénaristes japonais veulent-ils transmettre ? On retrouve encore ici la "petite souris", timide, qui manque de confiance en elle, travailleuse, bonne ménagère, soumise, ... bien qu'elle ait un super pouvoir :). Elle est prête à assister le ML toute sa vie, sans rien attendre en retour, même pas une petite romance :( :(

=> Agréable plongée dans le Japon de 1926, mais je ne re-visiterai pas pour autant.

Dense, complex Xianxia with all the trappings of the genre

PLOT: Two princes fight to seize the throne of the dying emperor. Simultaneously, several powerful sects coexist, with hidden conflicts.

1st arc [eps. 1-7]: 10 years earlier, the LF, a powerful, nonconformist warrior, welcomed the ML into her sect. He is the Prince Ping's son "trained" to become the next Demon Lord (and serve his father). The LF (Qing Ge) does everything to prevent Yi Shui (the ML) from taking the demonic path, but it's complicated. She then decides to take the demonic power in her body and sacrifice herself.

2nd arc [eps. 8-21]: Qing Ge (now Ran Ran) is reborn too early from the tree of reincarnation. Yi Shui takes her on as an apprentice to remove the chain of heart that binds her to her evil sister, Ran Wu. Ran Wu is reborn in turn and decides to pretend to be Qing Ge, whom she has always been jealous of.

3rd Arc [22 to 30]: Ran Ran and Yi Shui work together and become a couple.

4th Arc [31 to 40]: Return of the Great Villain, powering up to the great final battle.

+++ Deng Wei is excellent and majestic as ML, and I really like the pairing he forms with Julia Xiang.
+++ Magnificent opening sequences, OSTs.
+++ Very beautiful cinematography: fight scenes, CGI, costumes, sets, etc. Perfect!
+++ Lively direction, without any dull moments.
+++ The actors are talented, convincing, and they bring complex and well-developed characters to life.

### The multitude of characters and twists makes the storyline difficult to follow at times.

Xianxia dense, complexe avec tous les ressorts du genre

PLOT: 2 princes s'affrontent pr prendre le trône de l'empereur mourant. Simultanément, plusieurs sectes puissantes (dites "célestes" et "démoniaques") cohabitent avec des conflits larvés.

1e arc narratif [ép 1 à 7]: 10 ans + tôt, la FL, puissante guerrière non conformiste a accueilli ds sa secte le ML, fils "dressé" par le Prince Ping pr devenir le prochain Seigneur Démon (et le servir). La FL (Qing Ge) fait tt pr que Yi Shui (le ML) ne prenne pas la voie démoniaque mais c'est compliqué. Elle décide alors de prendre s/ elle tte la puissance démoniaque et de se sacrifier.

2e arc narratif [ép 8 à 21] : Qing Ge (now RanRan) est re-née trop tôt de l'arbre de réincarnat°. Yi Shui la prend comme apprentie pr enlever la chaine du coeur qui la lie à sa Evil sœur, Ran Wu. Ran Wu renait à s/ tour, et décide de se faire passer pr Qing Ge, qu'elle jalouse depuis tjs.

3e arc [22 à 30] : RanRan & Yi Shui travaillent ensemble et deviennent un couple.

4e arc [31 à 40 ] : retour du Great Villain, montée en puissance jusqu'à la gde bataille finale.

+++ Deng Wei est excellent en ML majestueux, et j'aime bcp le couple qu'il forme avec Julia Xiang.
+++ Magnifique générique, OSTs.
+++ Très belle cinématographie : scènes de fight, CGI, costumes, sets, etc. Parfait !

A really cute CL (Puff Kuo & Fandy Fan) for a hard love story

PLOT: The FL loses everything during her honeymoon: the wedding, her father (suicide after bankruptcy and debts), her wealthy lifestyle. RoFan-Sci-Fi series, quite funny and very well acted.

PLOT: The FL, an ordinary unemployed woman (somewhat neglected by her family in favor of her more beautiful and brilliant sister), receives a "filter" bracelet one evening of despair, allowing her to change her appearance. The FL takes advantage of this to get recruited into the company of the ML (a man who is unsociable and isolated due to his vision problems - her former high school crush). The FL will prove herself at work, but her relationship with the ML is complicated (he falls in love with all of her "filtered characters").

+++ A bunch of great actors (all the main leads), but especially Tan Jian Ci (his performance is amazing) ♡ඩ⌔ඩ♡
+++ Really good production with high-quality CGI (It was necessary :)
+++ OSTs well suited to the atmosphere (funny, light, sweet)
+++ The message is aimed at women (Asian women place excessive importance on their appearance, a cultural constraint): "Love yourself, be yourself." The second romance, very cute, questions relationships and marriage. It's fresh!! Too bad it's linked to childhood trauma...

### The plot is very wacky, but the storyline is relatively coherent. However, you have to accept some VERY excessive twists, especially in the last part...

La FL en profite pr se faire recruter ds la Cie du ML (homme peu sociable et isolé en raison de ses pbs de vue - son ancien crush de lycée). La FL fera ses preuves au travail, mais les relat° avec le ML sont compliqués (il tombe amoureux de tous ses "personnages filtrés").

A very funny romantic comedy starring Xing Zhao Lin

PLOT: The resourceful and mischievous FL, who works odd jobs, leaves a poor rating for a 5☆ luxury hotel. She is eventually recruited by the ML, the Director, as a tester, then, given the improvements made, as an intern. She will highlight the hotel's issues and propose solutions that are not in line with the existing rules and rigor.

+++ An energetic, funny CL, with intense interactions. The actors (all very convincing) must have had a lot of fun filming this series :)
+++ Dynamic direction, with very successful effects (visual and audio). The tone is clearly Comedy (OST, gags, etc.)
+++ Well-written story, with "British humor" dialogue. No deep theme, but very funny and well-done.

### A few incongruous details: the fathers' gray hair :( house abandoned for 10 years, dust-free but with green plants, etc.

=> A very good watch, light and funny, with an All-Green-Flag ML, to rewatch when you need comfort (* ^ ω ^)

PLOT: ML, with hearing-impaired parents and brother, is overwhelmed by the burden and escapes by secretly playing guitar in a group. One day, in despair, he sells his guitar to a "viva la vida" store, which takes him back to the time when his father, a 10th-grade high school student, didn't have a disability (but had a crush on the haughty goddess from the neighboring high school, mother of FL, and didn't even see his future wife, FL2). ML will try to prevent his father's accident, to set him up with FL2, ... with the help of FL (the "goodess' daughter, also brought to this time out of desperation).

PLOT: Le ML, doté de parents et d'1 frère malentendants, croule sous le fardeau et s'échappe en faisant secrètement de la guitare ds un gpe. Un jour de désespoir, il va vendre sa guitare dans 1 magasin "viva la vida" qui le propulse à l'époque où son père, lycéen en 1e, n'avait pas de handicap (mais avait 1 crush s/ la déesse hautaine du lycée voisin, mère de la FL, et ne voyait mm pas sa future femme, FL2). Le ML va tenter d'empêcher l'accident de son père, de le mettre en couple avec la FL2, ... avec l'aide de la FL (fille de la "déesse", elle aussi, arrivée à cette époque par désespoir).

+++ Un quator d'acteurs magique : Ryeo Un, Choi Hyun Wook, Seol In Ah, Shin Eun Soo. La performance père / fils restera dans les annales !! Deux romances émouvantes, poignantes, adorables.

It's so nice to see these characters we LOVED again... and to see how much the (wonderful) actors invested themselves in their roles.
I had such a hard time letting go of these characters when the drama ended... (that I rewatched it several times :)
I know there can't be a sequel to this story, but I would love to see this couple on screen again!!
