I think it went both ways… I don’t think he truly loved her either, I think it was a marriage of convenience for him from the get go…. Maybe not intentionally but definitely at least on a subconscious level…. Or maybe it was intentional and he hid it too well…. But it was kinda probably the same for her, she wanted to relocate back to Korea and it would be easier to do so with a chaebol Korean family… so not so much money for her I spse, but more of power…. Coz she’s naturally ambitious….

Yea, a NYTimes critique noted it too, I think it’s the first, probably something Disney wants to try out, and likely why the budget/cost was so high…. I do think it makes the whole viewing experience more immersive and enjoyable…. esp with a plot like this….

I totally didn’t like her with KSH at all, he was too short for her and he has a high school kid look. Yea, the chemistry on that one was average at best.

But in Jirisan, there was basically no romantic plot…. I do think they both also look super amazing on screen, also visually really compatible… but for some reason Jirisan’s plot was more of uh…. I think the guy quietly admired her…. There was also no direct physical intimacy… a lot of things were like undertone, ah right… like Blood Free basically….

Did you watch any of her movies? She has amazing chemistry with Ha Jung Woo…. Like really intense and also natural but the entire movie they have 0 kiss scenes, lol, almost 0 intimate scenes either. lol, if I remember correctly it was a long hug at the end?? She did do a romance heavy one called Daisy which I watched, it was ultra romantic but again…. lol, the entire plot involved no physical contact. lol. I think same with Il Mare… lol, she did mention during Assasination’s promotion interview that she finds it quite bizarre on how she isn’t trying to intentionally avoid physical displays of affection on-screen, but somehow most of the scripts she pick just end up being that way….

I do think KDW is good looking but then…. lol… I was genuinely surprised when JJH was so explicit about it during the Disney press interview… so she literally said she has always been a fan of how he looks… but after this drama even more so his acting capabilities. Coz honestly a lot of Korean actors are really charming and physically attractive…. Instead, I find KDW charming and having perfect proportions, not like drop dead gorgeous…. For example, I find Won Bin drop dead gorgeous… 🤣🤣🤣

But I think this is also coz KDW is like very gentle with her in the drama…. Which makes it more relatable/acceptable in real life. lol… but KDW hardly does any romance genres. He only did some at the start of his career…. But then again, I truly think it’s coz of the bodyguard trope… lol, I for one am a sucker for it ever since watching The Bodyguard…

I know right…… sighs, for the proper closure bit I’m not so sure we will get it given there are only 4 episodes left…. Don’t know, it’s a 50-50 chance… I sure hope they do…. Coz Blood Free ended weirdly… and the feeling sucked when the drama ended…. I felt like I got conned big time… 🤣🤣🤣

I’m totally a victim….. I mean, I went into this not expecting much…. Coz honestly Jun Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho also looked super compatible on screen, basically both perfect looking people esp in that drama, but shitz. The chemistry was average and the plot wasn’t that great….

So I had no expectations…. But damns, I’ve watched certain parts of Ep 5 on repeat like a million times already….. 🤣🤣🤣 my jaw actually dropped when they kissed. lol. Her dramas + movies hardly have kiss scenes….. same goes for KDW…. Shitz…. Super duper sweeet though…. 🤣🤣🤣 I was like…. “Awwwwwwwww……”

Haha, so I have high hopes on the romantic side for the last 4 episodes….

But I watched their interviews, and apparently JJH has been waiting for years to work with KDW…. She said she accepted this drama primarily coz she is a fan of his, so hence I do think there is genuine admiration for him off screen…. Which makes the chemistry very natural…

I mean, seriously I actually realised there are a lot of guys like that in real life….. like they have so many secrets, and what you see is basically just a facade…… they keep their “true-self” hidden….

I mean with the whole mistress and illegitimate child thing I do question if he ever loved her….. or more of he just liked the idea of her standing beside him portraying some form of image as the perfect wife…. From her looks, to her career, to how poised she is when she speaks publicly etc…. Which the other girl is basically not right, she is just an average Jane….

Yeap, that inheritance thing is also damn weird…. Like if you add all these points up, as a normal person, wouldn’t you wonder like if you even know this person at all? That cross thing is uber weird man, esp when the mistress said she designed it…. So I totally agree with her when she went to her mother in law and said I would want to dig him up from his grave so that I could divorce him seriously……

I think they added it to further illustrate that she basically has no idea who he is….. and to make her question everything including the very beginning of the relationship…. Because she was initially super confident that he could never be a spy…. And she told her husband’s brother that he is fundamentally good.

But then I think she started to have doubts when her other security dude told her that he thinks her husband could be a spy after all before he was wheeled into surgery….

I mean, if I’m summarising things at it is now, I would even wonder if he ever loved the FL... Coz it pretty much looks like he lives a double life, and could also be living a double life as a spy…. I mean it could be anything coz until now I still don’t really understand why he gifted her that cross, and then forcefully removed it just before he died….

My heart and my entire being totally melted, especially with the uber hot speed boat escape scene prior…….. the way he hugs her so that his body envelopes hers….. then the close up intense staring during the hair wash was just…… omg…..

and actually it’s not only that, they look really compatible on screen. Like they are very visually compatible, like perfect physical proportions… for one Jun Ji Hyun is pretty tall…. And Gang Dong Won not only is tall, but he actually has a really small face….. and damns, they have very good chemistry!!!

My gosh, their chemistry, and they both look so good in the drama……. Like they are just visually very compatible…. Damns, both Jun Ji Hyun and Gang Dong Won hardly do romance genres, and there are even kiss scenes here!!! I totally melted in Episode 5….

But honestly, even those blood related to her didn’t treat her any better…. They never sided with her, neither did they offer assistance…. They only did the bare minimum of not intentionally/explicitly trying to harm her….

Episode 13 was uber intense…. WTH man…..

I’ve only ever seen him in Blood of Youth…. And I thought he totally looked the part. Lol.

He defo is very annoying here…. But I thought he was also rather amusing..

lol but his natural gaze is kinda….. sharp/piercing? lol, a little too sharp to be a protagonist… I might find it a little odd if he acts all innocent and good from the get go…. Probably might downplay his strengths… this role was perfect for him coz it makes one guess which side he’s on…. So more of a grey role? Or an anti-hero… also whenever he smiles I just think he’s up to no good. 🤣🤣🤣

I think he should play more ambiguous roles…. And defo some romance too! lol.

Zhuge Kong Yun is actually my favourite character. lol. I think the actor did a very good job…

lol, I’m SOOOO glad I didn’t come on MDL prior watching. Usually I would for all the dramas I’m really into… but I was never invested or hooked by the drama, so once I saw that all the episodes was released I just randomly clicked on one of the last few episodes, coz I was curious as to who Yesha was….

Actually not only him, like certain twists of the main plot also surprised me…. For example, the first 20 episodes or so. I kept wondering what on Earth is up with Xiao BeiMing being poisoned… I mean him being poison ok, it’s fine, feels cliche, but sure…, lol, but the way he was poisoned made me quite confused about the genre of this drama as well. I was like…. Right, so romance is a main theme as well? But how is it possible that FL’s reflex response is to NOT trust him? That’s so illogical, they grew up together. He isn’t some random dude…. Then as the plot progressed, I was like, romance is basically almost non-existent… like wth…. I’m so confused. It’s only towards the end then I was like ahhhh…. So the poisoning is related to the main plot. Ok…. Right…. The could have introduced this story better… damns….

LOL! you spoilt it…. Awwww, I feel your pain….. but seriously, I think the final arc, or the main plot is really well-written…. And this isn’t based on any novel/webtoon…

Like it’s quite unique and different from most of the Cdramas of this genre. Frankly speaking, just based off my memory, I can’t remember any that gave me a real shock at the end. I mean, there are those which I guess the culprit wrongly, or just couldn’t guess at all…. But defo none that is like ultra shocking, not that I can remember of….. 🤔

I analysed it, and I think for this case, it’s also partially due to this actor. I wouldn’t say he’s a super good actor, but I think it’s more of his natural face and also his passable acting…. If otherwise I think more people could have guessed correctly….

lol, I kinda paused/dropped it after episode 20…. coz I never quite got attached to it, and didn’t have the urge to continue,…. This is my favourite genre, mystery+thriller….. so I just decided to binge watch the remaining episodes since it ended out of curiosity on who the main culprit is, I ended up fast forwarding a lot…..

I’m seriously considering to watch it properly this weekend….

This one is in the minority of Cdramas whereby the plot got better and more surprising/thrilling towards the end….. honestly I wasn’t that into it from the start because there are some bits of the subplot that was kinda weird and it felt very random/forced…. But it all came together and converged in the last 10-12 episodes… I loved how they disclosed a lot of the finer details.

Honestly the main plot is very interesting, quite intricate and also pretty smart. The unfortunate bit is how the entire thing was kicked off from the start. The execution of it and perhaps the editing or the overall production of it……? anyways, it had a very shaky and inconsistent first half… some bits made sense, some bits made me roll my eyes, the camaraderie here isn’t the best either, felt kinda out of place at times and makes you kinda forget about them instead of getting attached to the characters….

I know some of the MDL-ers guessed the culprit, but I was defo caught off guard…. lol.
Think the MDL score should be a bit higher…. 8.2 to 8.3….

The last couple of episodes were defo disappointing. It started from like a thriller, realistic reflection of the landscape in Mainland like 15-20 yrs ago to….. something uber cliche… and it became kinda weird towards the end actually….
