Fair enough, looking at it from a general perspective... but I guess Goblin and TOTNT received a lot of hype when they aired and a lot of people enjoy the fantasy/mythical genre on the whole...
Indeed they wouldn't be aware, although that can be said for any newer viewers of most actors and actresses but if their interest is sparked enough, a couple minutes of research will soon broaden their horizons.
I think it was the phrasing you used in your original comment that was misleading, in particular these words "While they have been good, a man of his caliber needs more diverse projects!"
The fact is, whether he takes the role in Divorce Insurance or not, he already has a lot of diverse projects and anyone who bothers to look up his filmography or even just his name will instantly come to know this. The issue lies in people bothering to do so.
On another note, My Girl was actually the very first drama of his I watched waaaaaay back in the day and was when I first became a fan~
Would be great to see him in such a role - somewhere down the line I feel he has been become typecasted into roles…
After Goblin in 2016, he also acted as a righteous doctor in Life (2018), a psycho killer in Strangers from Hell (2019), an upright lawyer in Touch Your Heart (2019), then after Tale of the Nine Tailed, he acted as a corrupt cop in Bad and Crazy (2021), as someone else mentioned, a single writer in Single in Seoul and most recently an ex-mercenary in A Shop For Killer's (2024)... there's also the current drama he is busy filming - Good Man (which according to the synopsis seems like it will be about a family of gangsters)... that seems pretty diverse to me. I mean, 2 mythical-like roles (Grimreaper and Gumiho) compared to all that... doesn't seem like he has become type-casted.
