I think that bit is just to show us how the eunuchs started to spread the rumor and sow discord between lanya wang vs the king to force the king to kill him.

Add in earlier too, the head eunuch informed the king that it was lanya wang that destroyed the shadow sect which kind of makes it seem like lanya wang is a power hungry man now which is different from his usual personality.

In BoY XiaoSe told the king about how the situation wasn't that serious and that it wasn't necessary to reach that point of killing Lanya Wang that quickly, so I guess we are seeing the behind the scenes work of what causes all that.

the hardest imo isn't the age but realising that some characters don't exist or show up in Blood of Youth. I personally like to try predict the plot so I'm guessing who gets killed off etc.

I think it's a combination of the production crew needing to cut scenes out where that actor's role got reduced significantly, plenty of plot scenes seem to just happen for the reason of happening without build up (this drama was filmed before the 40-episode rule). With most historic dramas they are around 80 episodes (see three kingdoms and kings war), I'd imagine this was around 70 pre-cut/shortening.

Her role was a spy for the yuan dynasty people sending intel over to them, she wasn't allowed to go back because she was a war captive getting the royal treatment. She was able to go back in the end because she was basically the king's babysitter for most his life so she was friendly with him?

respectfully... I think you have the wrong drama, I watched the first 5 minutes and see no women actor with a major role.

liHanYi is around 17 at the end of Dashing Youth and in Blood of youth is 12 years later so between 17-30, I'm guessing most of the young characters are around that age if that helps?

The guy is the future CEO of a whole Taoist sect! Aint no scholar got the money to compare to that. Imagine the income from daily offerings alone!

I can kind of predict what happened to make SCH go evil, all the sects probably still hate AnHe so no one wants to do business/cooperate with him which makes him feel like the world is against him, he then realises that another short cut to getting power/rising up the social ladder is supporting the future emperor, there is a job that has opened up via the shadow sect getting PK'd and that is how he joins the royals.

realistically at the end of TBOY SMY just did a screw it SCH's plan didn't work out, lets just do my original plan. The plan he had for his gang was exactly what he told SCH earlier on about what they wanted to after the sect leader dies.

the drama could also be even sadder if you add in what happened to BaliDongJun and YueYao (from the information we know from blood of youth).

if upto episode 4 is meh for you then imo it will stay the same. I found the first few episodes exciting and full of action.

After watching this drama and noticing the gap between Dashing Youth and Blood of Youth is 12 years.

The guys in Blood of Youth should still be young/under 40, but all of them look like uncles already!

The only guys who looked after their body was SumuYu and white haired deity, his purple friend also glowed down big time.

While watching blood river, I wished they added a SuMuYu and LiChangSheng arc too!!!!

note that this is also an 8 episode drama. I'm guessing in terms of timeline their older characters will have a larger role than the younger characters and they were picked for their older character parts but also have to do a quick youthful cameo.

I don't know the age of their characters, but it could easily be the king gave birth to the prince when he was 20ish, so because of the king living a long time the prince is too by default also older than usual. But yeah Peter Ho is past playing 20 year olds.

Episode 6, they actually had the audacity to have Peter Ho choose from left or right path... PTSD from his XiangYu days.

TBH you're right who is he even going to use his powers against, realistically the wilderness war has nothing to do with him plot wise so "that man" vs muyung sheng isnt happening. Chen Yue guy maybe? maybe the Chen Yue guy gets what he wants and kills Panxi which ends up with MuyungSheng going off the cliff crazy. We know hanjiang ends up killing him and a sane Muyung Sheng is no target for Hanjaing to kill.

heck I need to read the book to see how this ends if they aren't going to do season 2.
