I was surprised that the webtoon became a drama!! Still don't know if I should torture myself again and watch the drama adaption... Back then the webtoon left a huge void in me and I felt so sad for several days... 🥲
I recommend the webtoon. 50 episodes that you will read in one go (ep 51 has extras and an epilogue but it's only on Naver webtoon). Unfortunately it's a daily pass on webtoon now.
btw, I recommend all of Ha Ilkwon's works on English webtoon (no spoilers): Annarasumanara (just beautiful, masterpiece), Taste of Illness (masterpiece), Be Still My Heart (silly but as always there is a message), God if Bath was my first read and it's rather silly)
OMG! I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!! In every single aspect! Feels like you wrote down all the things I felt about this drama and its characters. Damn, I thought I was the only one because my friends praised that drama a lot. The last eps were dragging so much. Especially the forced romance (no chemistry at all) was a killer. Plus that psychotic, childish female lead. One of the few occasions where I rooted for the 2nd female lead (happy about the guest role in the end. Please be happy, Soo Ah). I thought his steady feelings for his first love were so pure, so Sae Ro Yi-like to me. That was charming, haha.
If you've watched the Reply series and Prison Playbook it will hit you right away because of all the (sometimes just subtle) references and guest roles. Really looking forward to the second season.
(Fun fact: I recently found out that my mom also started to watch more Kdramas nowadays but she only watches the first few episodes and the ending (lol?!). I was surprised when she told me she already completed Hospital Playlist. She told me she finished every episode from beginning to ending so that means a lot. haha)
Familiar faces and amazing actors! Always happy to recognize familiar veteran actresses/actors. (except for Joey Albright. I totally forgot his face. Just checked and he had several guest roles in many dramas that I've watched. I only seem to remember David McInnis, Daniel Henney, Julien Kang... etc.
Oh, the nostalgia!! Some dramas from the list definitely marked several important "milestones" (or rather "new beginnings") during my KDrama journey. haha Don't remember my first drama since I started really early in my life (watched Vietnamese dubbed dramas, I use the comment by Victoria before me as a reference), only remember a few titles (e. g. "Winter Sonata"). After enrolling into school I stopped completely. When "Jewel in the Palace" was released it became famous all over Asia and my gran made me watch it when she visited us in Germany for a short time but we stopped watching after. I started again with "Boys over Flowers" (first drama with subtitles) at the end of High School (even convinced my German friend to watch it, haha). After a short hiatus I re-started with "You're beautiful" when I got into university (college) and the binge-watching started. haha Nowadays because of work I don't watch regularly but it became so natural to watch KDramas on Netflix (it's so easy to have legal access to dramas with subtitles nowadays).
There were really intense and thrilling scenes that I liked but at some point it was dragging a lot and I don't mean the "boring episodes" dragging type but more plot twists, repetitive mass fights and reversals and bad people... etc. There were like three different arcs in this season, lol. I just wanted it to end. However, the ending was satisfying. If they want to do a third season, then I will probably watch it though...
I already expected a tragic ending (I predicted all of their deaths) since I knew about the historical events but after growing fond of all the main characters and supporting roles, the ending still broke my heart. Watching all of them die one by one. Cruelty at its best. They didn't even let Ae Shin's maid and servant touch hands... Thought I could handle the ending, however, after watching the final 2 eps, I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night and Mr Sunshine came to my mind. Hit me subconsciuosly deeper than I thought...
Oh... It's really hard to decide... I think right now it's Kyoto (Fushimi Inari Taisha is on my bucket list and I wonder if I can make it to the top... XD)
How was 1994? Many say it was the weakest, but I love both 1988 and 1997 (1988 being my favorite) so much I am…
I wouldn't watch 1994 too soon after finishing 1988. IMO 1988 was the best on its own and you won't help to compare it and feel like the others are lacking. 1997 and 1994 were really similar (more focusing on the love lines) while 1988 was about family (which I loved).
Great. Worth watching for the comedy well mixed with the mystery. I wish they subbed the last 5 minutes! Obo is…
I watched it during a flight and everything was subbed but can't quite remember the ending... I think the assistant wanted to quit but the king said something and he had to continue working for him.

Actually I think 1997 was the worst. For me it was 1988 > 1994 > 1997 I couldn't get the hype around 1997 when it was aired so I wasn't keen to start 1994 but then I liked it a lot more. I still recommend to watch the series in order (there are cameos from its predecessors! :D). Edit: btw, I asked my Korean friends and they also said they didn't like 1997 as much (also calling it trash). So I think everybody should see the parts for themself. It's all about preference.
So I watched it to check out whether it's really bad or just downrated because of some scandal. Turns out…
Yeah, also felt it was too rushed! The movie was too short for such a complex topic. (take Inception, just looked it up, 148 min!) I even googled if scenes were deleted because of the scandal.
Wasted potential..... the topic is really interesting. Before watching this movie I read a newspaper article about lucid dreams so I was thrilled when the movie started and I realized what it was about (I avoid reading plots to avoid spoilers XD). In the end I was disappointed although I didn't regret watching it (cinematography was great though, acting was good (Yoochun's scenes were actually refreshing), there was a plot twist I didn't expect).
this is going to flop because of yoochun
well, unless they decide to refilm his scenes with another actor
We will never know what happened and I'm still unsure about the whole scandal.
What makes me wonder though is when everybody accused him (in Korea there was excessive media coverage right at the beginning, it felt like a witch hunt).
People were quickly judging him, people like you. Angry keyboard warriors who don't wait for the trial but are quick to judge.
Of course, rape is horrible, filthy, disgusting! I'm always angry myself when I hear about it and people protecting the culprits, blaming the victims! It's sickening.
So I spent a lot of time reading through all the reports and confessions by the victims of that case. Only a few covered them thought.
By now he was cleared of all charges, two of the victims facing charges (or are already convicted). However, this time Korean media totally ignored the outcome. The press that accused him, netizens who left comments like you, they all didn't correct themselves. Or at least added information.
You probably already forgot. A person's reputation and future was ruined but nobody cared.

I also liked that it was more about everyday life and the relationship between friends, family, lovers (Reply 1988 vibes); not the typical Kdrama plot (outragious plot twists, tragedy after tragedy = makjang) so I couldn't predict most of the series. (when some clichés were picked up, it was easier though. haha)
