I dislike Lee Min Ho, not necessarily as an actor but I tried to watch Heirs years ago and I absolutely hated…
Haha I have one actor that I don't like (I won't name him here ;D) at all and I don't even know why, but he always has very interesting roles and I'm always like: noo, why does he play that role, now the whole drama is ruined and I was looking forward to it. But about a year ago I watched a drama where he played the main role and that was the first time I really liked him, he played the role so well and he fit perfectly. Haven't seen him in any drama since but I'm curious what I will think of his next appearance :D
And now, what I initially wanted to get at... I know the feeling, I sometimes dislike actor becaue I really hated the character he/she played. My brain knows that the actor and the character are not the same, but still, sometimes it's hard to differentiate :D
I finished this not long ago and gosh, it was such a beautiful drama. Everything about it was beautiful - the story, the characters (and actors too :P), the music, the costumes. Everything. As a big fan of Scarlet Heart I just had to check this out because it's a similar storyline, yet not quite the same. I really loved it and was glued to my screen until the end. I was rooting for the main couple the whole time and let me tell you: that's pretty rare because I usually don't like romance that much but I wholeheartedly wanted 13th prince and Ming Wei to be together. Although some things infuriated me to no end (*cough* Ming Hui's end of the story *cough*) I enjoyed it tremendously and I can only recommend it.
I am trying to build up my nerve to watch flying dragon but the female lead just turns me off from the drama.
Please watch it. Even if you are not a fan of the love story, I think the love story is actually not that important in the drama. This drama is about so much more and there are so many interesting things going on and so many interesting characters that you won't get bored. One of the best K-dramas I've seen, I highly recommend giving it a chance (it also has the best swordfight scene I've seen until now, at least in my opinion) ... also, the music is amazing :D
I usually really like side characters/supporting characters the most when watching historical dramas, because sometimes the side characters/supporting charcters are way more interesting/awesome than the main cast. I also tend to like charcters who act in an unusual way.
Some examples:
Flowers of the Prison ... i really liked Sung Ji Hun ... he was a great help to their cause and had strong morals and helped without falling in love with the female lead (which I appreciate because in my opinion, many dramas tend to make the males fall in love with a woman and only help her because they are in love, which is stupid - why can't people help each other out of kindness?)
Jang Ok Jung ... I loved the king's uncle xD ... he was a fun character and really cared for the king (because usually royal relatives are all portrayed as ambitious and greedy for the throne)
Moon Lovers ... I loved prince Baek Ah because he had a really good personality and not a typical prince but really freedom-loving but still kind-hearted. He also really cared for the main lead and wasn't so quick to jude him as the other princes.
Queen Seon Deok ... Alcheon. Do I need to say more? Really admired his loyalty and strong character.
Dong Yi ... the empress. Usually in dramas the empress doesn't get along with the concubines or treats them inferiour (bec. of jealousy and/or arragonce I presume). But the empress in Dong Yi is really kind and is good friends with Dong Yi.
Oh and I've recently finished Handsome Siblings. My favourite characters were the Gambling Devil and Hei Zhizhu xD
Ugh, trying to stop myself from rewatching Goblin again as I've already done it a month or so ago. One of the…
I also liked it very much - it was one of the very few dramas that made me cry (at the end) and considering I'm not a person who cries easily for fictional characters I can definitely say they aced the emotions department :P
To me, all dramas are escapism as long as they are good. If I pick up an intresting drama that pulls me in, it literally pulls me in :D ... if I watch a drama that I like I get lost in it and don't mind reality at all.
Only straight forward time travel. So they got to get creative like the time travel happens when the person is…
That's so stupid though xD ... It's still time travel even if it's just a dream etc ... but I'm glad it is so easy to surpass censorship laws - it's advantageous to all people who love time-travel dramas :D
Chinese drama r very complicated with long episodes...why can't they just made the episodes short just like Korean…
I think that Korean drama episodes are longer ... most are about 60 minutes, but most Chinese shows I watch have episodes that are around 45 minutes (of course there are always exceptions) ... or do you mean that the Chinese dramas are longer as a whole because of the high episode count?
Actually, I like their comments, given that they may never have watched any Chinese historical dramas, let alone…
I am not from the US but from Europe and I have never seen a single Asian drama on TV, regardless of the channel. It doesn't matter if it's Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai etc. they are not really shown, which is a shame because I love dramas from those countries more than American or European shows (although there are some great shows out there and there are many European and American shows that I love). I guess I just love the fact that there is less sex in Asian shows, while some American shows force sex scenes into every single episode and every character sleeps with every other character throughout the show until everyone has slept with everyone. I don't know about other European countries, though. Maybe some countries do show Asian shows, but I wouldn't know. I only know that I haven't ever seen an Asian show airing on any channel on TV here.
