I think the writer wanted to show the complex mentality of any person,, so many people commit crimes and think they are on the right side horrible fact but it's a fact No person is 100% mentally stable or on the right side of everything Human psychology comes from their experiences in life,, when he did that mistake and ruined his brother's future to take revenge he was a teenager right ?? he was treated horribly from his father, brother and stepmother get me a sane teenager who can endure such injustice and be the most ethical person in life I'm not saying he's right on what he did but I can understand revenge, I can understand fighting back with the only power he has feeling wronged so many times causes fury that can't be suppressed especially for a kid
