The tonal shift between the first and second half of this drama doesn't make sense. And all these heavy-handed feminist messages feel like the scriptwriter, who is a man, is ticking off issues from a list.
Ep.16: if this was a story about the mother, I'd probably be more interested. Her "friendship" with the Consort and her own lover are more interesting and layered than FL.
Finished 6 eps. The leads definitely have more depth to them than appears at first. The plot and background get expanded, including revealing the war demon tribe.
Ep.6: we finally get a good serious conversation between the two leads. It's easy to see why Yuan Zhong falls for her. That kind of candid personality is so rare.
"I'll stay with you till your hair turns grey, your teeth all fall out, and you die of old age." I'm pretty sure this is not how love declarations go😂 The sincere way she says it makes it funnier yet touching.
