We're talking about different things. As a viewer and a human being, I agree with you. As a writer, a character must have a certain characteristics and a pillar to build around. His has been justice for his family and by extension to others who face the same tragedy, but he wavers a lot during the first 6 episodes. It's shoddy writing on part of the scriptwriter.

Of course. But I am talking in the context of his characterization in the drama, not as our empathy with him as viewers. This is probably why some viewers find him annoying. He's not consistent in his actions/beliefs.
Han Da On's behaviour is erratic. I can't figure out if he wants to protect the innocent and uphold the law or if he's going vigilante. Justitita's court rulings at least have the flimsy excuse of legal procedures on her side, but he seems like a trauma victim more than a detective.
