This drama gets everything right.......

This drama gets everything right... that's what I thought till the last episode.
I mean this has a lot of things like overly sweet moments, I'll chase you by bringing you food everyday trope, no red flags just a green carpet (yes I love me some red flags), and just this cute couple vibe which is not my thing and yet, yet i liked watching it. I mean usually when a drama has stuff like this, I'd simply not watch it but this one made me stay.

Let's list all the things I liked (aka all the things THIS drama got right which others don't). Negatives, later.
1. First and foremost, the friendship. This is not a "got right" thing. I'm mentioning it here because love their friendship so so much. I love how the friends are so silly but when time calls for it, they can be mature. They are really supportive of their friends and always jump to e/o's defense. I love how even though they were shocked, they all supported Hao and Sun liking guys. (that scene where they try to read BL manhua was hilarious.. and them putting in this effort to understand Hao and Sun is also really nice).
2. I am not sure how to say this but there was this "weirdness" in this drama which I haven't seen in any dramas before. Actually the weirdness was the silly-ness of the characters. Especially Hao. The weird faces and sounds he made.. at first i thought "tf is he doing? this makes me uncomfortable" but then I realized that it does not make me 'uncomfortable'. It's just that I've seen such silly-ness in a drama for the first time. I've seen many high school dramas but none of them had this full of energy, silly characters.
3. Green flags. actually green flag because only Hao was green at first Sun was a red at first. My first impression of Hao was bad because he seemed to only care about fucking his gf and was ignorant towards her (which is true i think). But later on a lot of other things that he did made him a better character.
(on a side note, talking about characters, Li Si Yu had a very inconsistent character. In the beginning, even she was nonchalant towards her relationship with Hao. She was even trying to court Li Shi Gu while being with Hao. Then when Shi GU rejected her, she came back to Hao (wow talk about loyalty) which made me think she does not really love Hao. However later when Hao asked them to break up, she was crying and seemed really hurt. Like what is going on girl?)
4. About the break up. (this is when I started to feel euphoric that wow this show is getting everything right. This is where the line comes from) I love how Hao broke up with Li Si Yu and THEN started courting Li Shi Gu. In a lot of dramas i watch, this is a big problem. The ML keeps leading a girl on even though he knows he's fallen for someone else. But no, this drama got it right and made them break up first. (I've mentioned this below as well in time stamps)
5. Sweet moments. Let me be honest. I don't like them. If it's too much, most of the time I fin(I stopped in between coz I'm listening to unknown OST and I'm emotional) I find it 'cringe'. But I didn't find this drama cringe. Even if it is FILLED with sweet moments, I went on and watched it till the end.
6. Talking about the visuals, Hao didn't find him attractive in the first episode. But then he REELED me in. idk how I did not find him attractive in the first ep but loved him in the 2nd ep and throughout? Oh and his habit of slicking his hair behind ohh I'm down sir. also he is so seductive, his eyes in particular, the gaze he gave during steamy scenes (tho I'm not a fan of his lower register voice during those scenes (it's a personal intolerance))
And Chi Gang, man's a eye-candy, to simply put. Him in his gym clothes with that 'lookin down on you' gaze ahhh
7. Acting-wise, all did great especially Wayne Song (playing Hao) did an amazing job. I was especially amazed by the shift in his entire demeanor from chill, cool , loving, caring, silly in the first 9 episodes to heart broken, tired of living man in the last episode. Halfway through the episode I noticed that he carries some sadness with which he cannot let go of. Finally when it was revealed what happened, I realized so that's why he was sad. man did a phenomenal job> through his acting alone (even before it was revealed) I could feel that there is some sort of sadness.

Now the negatives
1. this is the first problem i found in this drama. Sun kissing CHI without consent. Even after being pushed away THREE TIMES he continues to kiss him (usually i love such red flags in dramas but for some reason I don't like it in this one. IDK why in this drama all my likes and dislikes are different than the usual. usual- hate lovey-dovey cute stuff. In this? love it... Usual= love red flags.. in this? hate it)
coming to Sun this guy is just a menace. Too controlling? even after being told not to bother him, he makes a fuss in his WORKPLACE?? He literally follows him and tells him to get out of the car (I didn't eve watch this scene. just skipped)
Honestly, i did not like the second couple. Since the beginning, I had problems with Sun's behavior due to which i ended up skipping most of their scenes. Even after they got together, i just mostly skipped through their cute couple moments. Wait, I just realised I skipped their cute moments but did not skip the cute moments (except in the ep 9) of the main couple. Meaning it's not the drama but the couple itself (maybe) which made me so whipped that i did not find 'em cringe??
2. THE ENDING . I had been pretty much professional in writing this review till now. But henceforth, i am about to be veryy unprofessional so i beg your pardon.
WHAT THE FUCK WAS that ending? just there for shockvalue (as another user said). Like seriously wtf was that and why was that? Why did they have to make shigu die. And that too they did not reveal till like mid way of the episode. i lost my mind speculating what happened. I eventually stuck to the theory that after ep 9 Hao had to go abroad for studies that is why this all was happening. But still i kept wondering where is Shi GU like why are they not showing him> then eventually they showed him in that cafe and i was like wow finally he is here. BUt then he mentions something about Hao's girl friend? my jaw literally dropped to the floor. I was just sitting there for like a solid minute processing what he just said. Is it a translation error? is he just teasing him? wth is going on? ohh okay so maybe they broke up because Hao had to go abroad. but no, they then drop the bomb that shigu is dead, died in an accident? what the fuck? what the living fuck are you saying? Then the rest of the episode is Hao trying to cope up with his loss, trying to move on.
Usually when they make dramas, one can pick up from a few episodes that the ending will be sad. But this? all 9 episodes were rainbows and sunshines then why make the last episode hysterical? why make it hurt so much? yes I cried alongside Hao.. I just seriously don't get why they had to do that? like why did you shigu the cute poofball had to die? makes no sense.
