Whd is known for his micro expressions as dfqc. There is a reason why this character exploded in china. It wasn't just cool bking character but multiple different roles all in one. And if you have watched guardians of the dafeng then that last arc was especially elevated by his acting. It was so good that rednote was filled with people crying their eyes out for days especially male audience and young boys. Most cdramas are watched by fangirls these days and cnetz/general public are not interested in their domestic dramas but dafeng despite being smeared managed to find audience outside of fancircles. Male audience are especially harsh because they don't have fangirls biased filter on or not blinded by beauty of actors. They even roasted some actors this year as foundation general. But whd's character as xu qian wasn't a pretty boy but more ordinary rough rebellious character & when hate campaign was going on, it was the male audience who was the loudest in defending his acting against those who didn't even watch the dramas but shitting on him. Now the drama is getting s2 and the drama has many loyal audience who aren't even his fans but always come defending his character. I really hope he can also prove everyone wrong as xjx cuz I seriously think his acting is great and not appreciated enough here cuz of his visuals

Novel is harem so he has several love interest. He married Lin an in the novel but had a child with grand princess and also Duchess was the one he loved most deeply and there is also a concubine fu xiang who he met in brothel & few more other love interest. This can be considered problematic for female audience so drama changed all of that & made Lin an his one true love

Dw not everyone noticed all those small details including me ahaha. Some people are just good at analyzing plus the drama's marketing team kinda spoiled a bit and gave hints about QS & Xm connection so some guessed it. I personally didn't think of their connection much myself but I at least felt she was hiding something from RFX. Her face always looked guilty towards him but I was hoping that maybe she just has some sad past & not actually involved in the murder but she was which made me so sad. I shipped them hard too so definitely this ending was very tragic so I get you 😭

It didn't even do well in terms of views cuz this is S+ drama on dual platform so reaching 20m something means only 10-13m on each platform which is lackluster honestly. It only did well in terms of advertisement but even that was mostly sold pre airing cuz of all the reuters hype but actual drama failed to meet that expectation

Ohh I get you and kinda agree with convoluted part. I remember when the show was airing and in ep 2 or 3, when RFX came to her apartment and the expressions she gave had many of us suspicious of her. Then some bloggers in china noticed that when RFX goes to her bathroom, there were bras of different sizes hanging so people guessed she is living with some other girl & some even guessed that she might know xm cuz we didn't see her dead body. Obviously none of us completely knew the full context but major criticism was that plot twist was actually kinda predicable but still all the details of what led to it was good. I think when you are watching something when it's airing, you notice a lot of these small details and has more time to be suspicious of everyone for example Wu shanlong dying scene and when she deliberately shouts where is the exit was also suspicious or in ep 21 or 22 when RFX had his final dinner with her, her face looked soooo guilty that I was sure by that point that she is involved in something but I am glad she wasn't the one who actually killed him at least even tho she did hide xm identity and didn't turn herself to police so she went against his wishes but I still kinda felt sad for her. It's soo tragic how RFX saw xm before dying and realizing the person he was fighting for all this time is the criminal who ended his life but what makes it more tragic is how that psycho was wearing QS dress so he might think she is also involved with xm and told her that he found out so xm is now killing him to silent him. Like it makes me so sad to think that he might not know the full truth before dying 😭

Not really. A lot of us guessed the plot twist when it was airing and I think most of it makes sense and there were some foreshadowing for it too early on. If you can specify what you are talking about then maybe I can help you highlight all the buildup for this ending but I don't want to say too much in fear I might spoil you accidentally

Possibly. Some melon said last year that he is looking for modern script. He very rarely does historical dramas back to back but he has already done live long and prosper & empress reborn back to back so jumping this to directly is less likely. Just my guessing but either he will take short 3 month modern script after he is free from variety show and other events on Oct and then join s2 early next year or he will most likely won't join any drama crew this year after ER since he is busy with variety show and concert and brand events + he usually takes 3 months of gap in between so might join s2 early next year directly

It was such a nice wrap up. Mzy fans also bought a flower banquet for Didi. He also told fans to not worry about him & to just support the drama. I know he was hurt when nobody send a single flower to him during booting ceremony because they were all angry and boycotting this drama but thankfully now everyone came to support and he got teary eyed

Nope idk why people trust sooo many misinformation when it comes to Wang hedi. He is first billed simply to attract investors and this is why you are seeing so many quality costumes & high budget production otherwise this drama wouldn't get S+ budget. His screentime is less than mzy like if mzy is 60% then his will be 40% and mostly they are following novel closely except few changes which might not suit well for drama audience of now since this novel is kinda old and has some outdated tropes or cuz of censorship they might have to change few aspects of the story. Overall, we are just getting some added scenes of xjx to explore his character a bit more but story is still centered around sm getting her revenge and xjx being her ally. In fact the drama has changed a very big xjx highlight in the novel to shen miao highlight because it is her story and his fans have no problem with this so it's definitely still female centric
