My point was that the novel is actually rated higher so script is most likely good and which is why maybe whd might take this if the script and story is good. If it's highly rated then surely there must be something good about it?? That was my point to bring douban rating cuz that site is really harsh with rating stuff and again no one is saying that he will prioritize other xyz rumored dramas over dafeng s2. You have to understand that for a sequel to happen, you need all the cast available at the same time and all the drama team free from their other work so it's not just on whd. If he has free schedule then ofc he might take some other drama in between. Do you want him to wait months doing nothing if dafeng s2 doesn't start soon due to any reason?? Gotd writer has said that it isn't happening that soon and you can see that sequels take time in china to start. Jol s3 was announced even before dafeng s2 but there is still no news of when it will start. And as you said, only whd is announced so we don't know when other cast will be free and available for s2. Again, it's not like whd doesn't care and him doing some other drama doesn't mean he isn't prioritizing dafeng s2. If he really does any drama before dafeng s2 then it likely means he had free schedule so he chose to work. If he doesn't choose any other drama then maybe he will be busy with NBA or concert or vs etc so might do dafeng s2 directly instead of doing some other drama on between. Whatever he chooses, I am open to it and trust his choices

Maybe try few eps & see if it captures your interest. It's the type of drama which mostly give answers at the end but you can guess stuff on your own based on the hints

All his dramas take more than a year usually so I am guessing this will air next year summer season. The last whd drama which aired quicker was ofl but quality was shit so I am okay waiting as long as they give us quality content

Sure if you like thriller slice of life crime drama

The director of dafeng s2 has started shooting another drama this month and it's a period drama so will take 4-5 months for him to be free. If it wraps up on Feb then the fastest we can get dafeng s2 is March or April. Whd has plenty of time to shoot a short modern drama in between and ngl I also thought this modern one is fake & absurd cuz of multiple fake melons but all the reliable melon accounts have recently also posted this one and they all were also right about whd taking xjx role. This novel is also highly rated on douban like 7.6 (dafeng novel is 6.7) and many novel fans are saying this story is all about ML highlights. He is a very complex and beloved character & they all cried a lot after finishing it (tragic romance). It also has alot of gun action and rich hot bad boi trope which might have appeal to whd. The only thing I am worried about is that director is someone unknown and I hope they remove Ukraine thing and make some fictional country or setting to avoid censorship problems. Real life setting can result in drama taking long time to pass censorship and all the political propaganda can be messy so best to avoid it. It's still a melon tho and nothing is confirmed. I also prefer luoshui melon more but Wu lei name is recently linked to it on the same day this whd melon appeared so not sure what's going on but he will be busy with WT s2 on Nov anyway so let's wait & see

Yeah the harem elements are removed from the novel and male lead doesn't have too many love interest. There are some arcs which got rushed or skipped (will be in s2) so they kinda changed the order of arcs and ended it in a big climax arc for xqa. The drama added many comedic elements and made FL role more (Lin an). The whole romance subplot is basically drama original cuz Lin an in the novel barely has any screentime and she wasn't that 1 main fl (novel has many girls xqa has relationship with)

He is basically a very good liar and sometimes lies for his benefit with other characters for fun about his identity to get into their cult/sect and get information out of them as a guardian. But his identity is well known among all main characters including female lead. It's just with a certain sect he hides and doesn't show his real identity. He lies to them who he is to gain trust from them so they tell him their identity and they help each other out without truly knowing who he actually is (it's mostly fun) so basically doing networking for guardians. Also female lead has a whole arc initially where he misunderstood her as someone else and she took advantage of that and lied to him that she is actually who he thinks she is to recruit him for herself and get him to help her win a poetry contest so he didn't know her identity for many eps and overall he is intelligent but got fooled by her so both has that dynamic of lying and taking advantage of others so yeah it's all mostly funny subplot 😂

Yes xqa hides his identity from others a lot but it's more of a fun subplot

Not like reset & no time travel. More like different eras & time skip. 1997, 2002 & 2015 are three time jumps & they are solving one case for 18 years basically so even if there is a bad end in one time skip, we will still see how or what led to that conclusion in later eps

He is the type of actor who gets immersed in his characters & more of a method actor so he always takes time between his projects to prepare well instead of jumping on dramas back to back. Also ever since he blew up, he gets a lot of attention & scrutiny so he is careful with what projects to take. He signed ofl before lbfad and got hate for acting in such a drama. Now he always takes quality projects and something unique instead of same genre in repeat. The type of person who focuses on quality over quantity from the start of his career. Other A list actors are same who don't just release 3-4 dramas in a year. They take time cuz their value is high & scripts comes to them first so they can decide what next project to take whereas you will notice a lot of nugu actors in china do 3-4 dramas in a year non stop cuz they will be irrelevant if they are not much active so they can't afford to take breaks like top stars can. Another thing is that whd projects all takes long time to shoot. Even his movie paaa took 5 months when movies shoots in 2 months in china mostly & his projects also takes long time to come out or don't get license quickly for example live long and prosper started shooting last year may and wrapped up in Sept. Zlh drama overdo and dyx drama the road to splendor were both also shooting around the same time and wrapped up later but overdo already released during july summer break and dyx drama also aired in Aug but llap is still waiting for the license and confirmed release date (rumors is Oct end or early Nov) so we have to wait 1.5 months for it as compare to other dramas shooting around the same time. In fact other dramas like txw "where the mask ends" and tiger sniff the rose (mzy lyr) both were wrapped up just this year (April xiwei drama & Jan mzy drama)and both releasing in Oct now (less than a year wait after wrap up). They might air even before llap. Similarly his thriller drama LTTN took 2 whole years to come out because it didn't pass censorship easily and we got the license late after 2 years so yeah it's culmination of many things

Latest rumors are either 25th Oct or 3rd Nov (around this time most likely it can release but no confirmation yet). About the cast, they all are VERY good. Liqin is a senior so we don't even have to worry about her acting. She is known in china as a very good senior actress. I have watched Zhang yaqin in flourished peony and she was exceptional. Rong zishan also earned critical praise for his performance in the hit drama the bad kids at a very young age. Wang duo is also a very underrated but great actor and ofc Wang hedi is also known for playing such roles well so all in all cast is very strong

There is someone in his past life but overall it's mostly characters having feelings but no end game cp after rebirth. But that doesn't mean there are no shippable moments. I heard from a novel fan that they ship many characters with each other cuz of their dynamic & bond
