Always a blessing to have an intelligent and bright child, though can be quite a headache to parents at times. I am lucky that all of my kids are very independent in their pursuits. I never really had to worry about their studies, applications, extra-curricular etc. They would bounce ideas off me but they always would go ahead and pursue what they want themselves. Sometimes, they would surprise me with what they had achieved; like the time when my son got a rather prestigious scholarship that I did not even know he had applied for! He was surprised himself when he got it; said he applied just for the sake of applying. That was years ago. I think my kids learned from me and hubby about hard work and independence. Not sure if it is a good or bad thing.

Came back last week from a month's leave. Went to HK for my daughter's wedding; to Japan for a week, and to Singapore before coming home to Aus. Slowly sifting through work and housework. Exhausted. And how about you? Life's been good and busy for you?

Hola Est. Como estas? I am interested to write for MDL but I must admit that I am not a frequent user here due to work commitments. Whenever I do stop by, I write reviews only. Contributing to a a few articles should not be a problem. My area of 'specialisation' is Taiwanese, Chinese and Hong Kong dramas and movies as I am an experienced subber for these languages. I do watch Korean and Japanese dramas, but I can see that you are not lacking writers in that area. Let me know if I can help.

Taiwanese/Chinese ones: you missed George Hu (he turned 30 this year), Kingone Wang, Ethan Ruan (turned 30 last month), Ming Dao, Wilber Pan, Peter Ho, Huang Xiao Ming, Yuan Hong, Hu Ge, Nicky Wu (he's in his 40s but hot -belongs to the same generation as Jimmy Lin), Wang Leehom (talented singer, composer, actor AND a major cutie!) and super-delicious and yummy Roy Qiu. There are quite a lot of mature (>30 yo) and super good looking MEN in the acting industry in China, Taiwan & Hong Kong. Can't name them all! As for the Korean ones, you left out two of my favourites, talented and VERY handsome - Jo Jin Moo and Jang Hyuk. :)

I can't believe there is only ONE Jdrama in here -.- Love shuffle deserves to be there..Hotaru no Hikaru and others…
Love Shuffle is one of my fav too. I have a few JDramas that I like but somehow, they never make it to the Top 5. I think the word here is 'impact'. The short and straightforward episodes of JDramas somehow affected the longevity of emotions the audience attach to it. The storylines are brilliant, but the emotional effect is not as 'wow!' as K,T & CDramas where you get couples with unbelievable chemistry, memorable scenes and comedy situations and bucket loads of tears. For example, when you mention Secret Garden, I would sigh and remember the emotions but when you mention Love Shuffle or Buzzer Beat, I would remember that they are good dramas with excellent storylines....one appeals to the emotional memory, another to the mind; hence the difference of impact. Ppl tend to attach more value to emotional memories. That's just my opinion.Feel free to disagree. :)

For me, it is not just about the looks and hotness factor, but also acting skills, the image and character of the person. There are many good lookers in the industry but are rotten to the core, spoilt or have bad behaviours, eg: playboy, addicted to sex, cheater, pretender etc. Those negatives totally turn me away from following these unworthy entertainers. However, you have a pretty decent list there - with a few of those hunks in there with questionable character, but everyone's entitled to their preference. Good job.

Bad boys = boyfriends. Good boys = husbands. Being with bad boys = exhilaration, youth, falling in love. Being with good boys = maturity, stability and being loved. Depending on which stage of life you are in, your preference differs. Most romantic Asian drama fans are young women, hence the ending almost always caters for this age group (bad boy + lead lady). If the drama is catered for an older and more matured audience, the good boy will almost always get the lady. My opinion: in reality, bad boys make bad husbands.

agreed. i believe that there is nothing wrong with sticking to simple and proven storylines but what make a successful drama different than the others is often always the unforgettable/interesting characters, the setting, the dialogue and the chemistry. :)

cool! just be warned that the middle part about office and business politics can be quite draggy. feel free to forward it, you will not miss much. essentially, the climax of the story is at the beginning and the end. :)
