It's a controversial topic still. Autumn in My Heart despite its super high viewership was a very controversial drama in its time. The mindsets have changed in the last 2 decades but not by much. From what I've seen, romances between siblings (whether adopted or step) is still frowned upon there.
Noted. I'd recommend watching it, Autumn in My Heart and Winter Sonata are the two dramas that initiated the Hallyu wave and established the Kmelodrama genre. Autumn also started Song Seung Hoon, Won Bin, Song Hye Kyo, Moon Geun Young, and Han Chae Young's careers.
There's so many shippers if you watch Life with Derek (Canadian show) LMAO
I don't blame them, the show has a lot of subtext, and hints at attraction between Derek and Casey lmao I'd bet my life that if it wasn't a Family Channel/Disney show, they'd have hooked up.
One of the best movie adaptation of a Shonen manga tbh very faithful to the source, great CGI and the actors suit the role very well. Fukushi Sota makes an excellent Ichigo, could not have chosen a more suitable actor for that role and Hana was a great Rukia as well. I was skeptical of her casting before watching this movie, but colour me surprised and thoroughly impressed.
okay with what you said about CGI… but your “so far” literally consists of only 2 epi? idk how impressive…
That's why I said "so far" and didn't rate the drama. I didn't say the script isn't substantial, read again. I said acting cannot carry a drama without a substantial script, it was a statement not a criticism of the screenplay. The story so far is less than promising in my view, but I'll wait till mid-way through to rate the drama.
Step-sibling romance is not problematic imo And neither is adopted sibling romance.
Also how can you forget putting one of the most controversial adoptive sibling romance ever in a Kdrama - Autumn in My Heart. In that drama the ML and FL basically grow up considering each others as blood related sibling till their teens but fall in love as adult after being separated.
He is the man I love to hate... such good analysis material... it does not get much clearer than his behaviour.…
+1 to the analysis. Agreed fully. Also how the drama showcases the grandma as a strong, fully independent woman despite being in her late 70s (?). It subverts tropes we usually see in Kdramas. Which is a huge plus imo
Also it subverts the typical 2nd FL trope as well where the SFL in JBL is a genuinely nice woman who lacks any ill intention towards the FL and is a genuine friend toward the ML despite the disparity in wealth and circumstance.
The CGI is a huge turn off. It's supposed to be a big budget drama, where tf did all the money go then?? The writing so far has been less than impressive as well, acting alone cannot carry the drama without a substantial script. High 7s is being generous, I'd rate this the first two episodes just 6/10.

Indeed. He's someone I love to hate as well. Actually BoF is a drama I love to hate as a whole. There's so much toxicity in it, I could write an essay over it xD I think it's safe to say most people feel the same as us xD
I love JBL's portrayal of survivor's guilt so much. The drama hits very differently esp since I watched it not long after I lost my father. Into the Ring is a much lighter watch, I loved it for different reasons as well (direction, cinematography, characterisation and performances being the key factor). It's such a stylish show as a whole due to its usage of camera techniques that's mostly seen in Western movies. It reminds me of Amelie (the French movie).
To anyone who longs for healthy relationships in Kdrama, I'd HIGHLY recommend watching Into the Ring and Just Between Lovers. These 2 dramas have possibly the healthiest relationship between leads I've ever seen in a Kdrama period especially Into the Ring.
Also I'm 100% sure Gu Jun Pyo is universally hated these days. He's the epitome of a toxic, problematic, piece of trash.
Love 020 is 3/10 for me. You Are My Glory is 5/10.
Both are mediocre dramas bogged down by the unconvincing performances of the leads. Love 020 especially is beyond cringy (esp when everyone fangirls over YY's character for no reason).
Many people hate shits like these really, outside of the annoying fujoshis you'll find that not many people like these BLs that use toxic tropes esp Chinese BLs.
Lmao their ratings history shows bad their judgment in dramas really are. Be Melodramatic 1/10, CLOY 8.5/10, Girlfriend 9/10 etc. XD Talk about having terrible judgment.

It's one of the most stylishly shot Kdramas I've seen. The cinematographer for this knows their shit.
