BL, in my books, is a fantasy genre where most if not all the male characters are gay yet they never accept the labelling and go the "I'm only attracted to you" way where bi/pansexuality doesn't exist, women are turned into jealous caricatures and some toxic tropes are romanticised.

BL is genre, Shoujo's a demography though? I mean many Shoujos are BLs and most BLs are Shoujos.

Another example of this was when I said BoF made Kdrama a huge thing in Asia even before BTS (again NOT related to how original it was or anything like that) and you again unnecessarily brought up how BoF is an adaptation of a manga and SK didn't come up with it as if I didn't already know that. I've no idea what you're talking about. Read my original comment, I never said Jdrama was popular I said people KNEW about it. You're the one who keeps insisting on it being completely unknown and blabla. Also using MDL comment section as indicative of popularity is a false dichotomy. MDL population doesn't encapsulates general population. And yes I know BoF was based on Jdrama, I didn't say it wasn't (I read the manga before the show myself). I said BoF is one of the first dramas to actually blow up the Kdrama industry in Asian regions.

Also no you're wrong about Korean industry because Kpop and Kdramas WERE indeed popular before 2014. Just because you lived in an area where no one bothered with it doesn't mean it wasn't popular everywhere else. Go and ask around South Asians, South East Asians about how popular Kdramas and Kpop was back in 2011-2012 and they'll tell you. And I brought up the Indian channel comment because it's relevant to this argument because those channels and shows were popular in NE India. In fact if you look at some Indian states like Mizoram, Sikkim etc. you'll find that Kpop and Kdramas have been trending in these regions as early as 2009 and they were widely known phenomenon among youngster. "Kpop style" was a very trendy way to style oneself and CD/DVDs of Kdramas were sold everywhere in these areas. And if you ask SEAsians you'll find out that some Kpop songs like 2NE1's I Don't Care were huge in regions like Philippines and all.

Disagree. Kpop was booming as early as 2011-2012. Heck we had shows in India that specifically catered to Kpop fans like Live Power Music and we even had Korean channels like KBS World and Arirang. Kdrama was flourishing as early as 2008-2009 in Asia (SEA, South Asia and Far East) due to Kdramas like BoF. Heck one could even argue that Winter Sonata, Autumn in My Heart and Stairway to Heaven are the Kdramas that truly started Hallyu wave esp in East Asia. It was a relation. If people know about anime, they'll know about Jdramas as well. My point was there's nothing random about stumbling into the Jdrama world.

Again you're circling back to this point. The idea behind Parasite plagiarising the Tamil movie has no basis. I've been telling you to watch that movie first before commenting on it. It's superficial, it's JUST the premise as both movie involves someone posing as someone else. And Bong Junho has never claimed originality about the premise. There's been numerous movies that makes usage of this premise/trope before. Tell me, when did Bong Junho claimed credit to coming up with this idea? The stories are entirely different in both the movies. And story is where the originality of something likes. Hence I made that LOTR-WoT reference. Both the books make use of popular Epic fantasy tropes and premise for e.g the good old good v evil moral trope, but the stories are entirely different. Using the logic that the makers of Minsara Kanna made, WoT is a direct plagiarism of LOTR. Trust me, once you watch the movie you'll find the whole plagiarism accusation very asinine and foolish.

Also that movie's a 1999 movie, it was nigh impossible to find that movie with Hindi subs/dubs, you really think Bong Junho found a Korean subbed version of that movie? I'm saying this from experience, it took me AGES to find a Hindi subbed version of this movie. It only started popping up after the producer of that movie made a big splash over it.

Bollywood is infact a globally famous industry though. Everyone knows that Bollywood exists and some of its actors/actresses are even known outside India like Priyanka Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan etc.

Stumbling upon a Kpop boy group in 2014 is nothing random. Kpop was exploding worldwide then. And Japanese culture esp animes have been worldwide famous for ages now. Bollywood is another culture that's popular worldwide, Tamil movie industry on the other hand is of much smaller scale.

Also have you seen the movie? The Tamil one? You should, the similarities are incredibly superficial. It's just the premise. Premises being similar is something most movies/tv series/books share with each other. It's like accusing the Wheel of Time for stealing from Tolkien books or accusing every romcom ever for stealing from each other.

Also if you think Korean industry steals from others. You should watch the Indian movie and music industry as a whole. There's almost no originality here. Heck if you browse the music library of this Indian producer called Pritam, you won't find any original songs. He blatantly steals from everyone and never credits anyone. He literally reuses the instrumentals from other industries and layers vocals over them.

Parasite was not plagiarised from a Tamil film. The similarity between the two films are superficial at best and mostly coincidental. Besides that, even most Indians (I am one) don't care about Tamil movies outside of the South Indian region, why'd anyone expect some random Korean writer to watch them even.

I'm not sold on ISH as Jane. I don't think she can portray someone like Jane well unless they change Jane's entire characterisation (which may ruin her character).

I'm sorry but I LOVE the pace of this show. It's soooooooo soothing, the focus on the dishes is such a huge plus for me as a foodie and a home cook myself + the way the two leads just get lost in each other's eyes is just sooo romantic.

Anyone expecting drama and grand romance and emotional roller coaster should not start this drama because it's not that type of drama.

I completely disagree about your view on Sugamone. Not all relationship needs to be an emotional roller coaster. Some relationships, especially the ones that last long, are like the one depicted here. There is emotions between the two and it's depicted through mutual respect and liking for each other. They connect through these conversations rather than through drama and angst. If you look at most couples who're together for a long time or have been married for long time, you'll see that they act like these two than the grand type of romance.
