Crossing The Line & Trapped's fans say no to what you said based on the rating on this site, though Right or Wrong…
Personally, I couldn't care less about what BL fans think. After years of seeing them defend r*pe scenes and glorifying assault as some kind of romantic gesture I have no care for their opinions.
Trapped and Crossing the Line were like fantasy shows. Esp Trapped where while the pairings were cute to watch (I adore the supporting couple in it), the story as a whole fell super flat and had very small substance which was amplified by the fact that it ran for 20 frigging episodes.
Crossing the Lines wasn't bad though, it was short and sweet. Not great, not bad, just in the middle. The lack of development for the stepbros in Crossing the Line pulled it back from being great for me. If only those two characters had some development and the show invested in their story more, it could've been really good.
The only thing I like about this is Ah Jun Peng as Ye Xing Si. He's an adorable looking guy. Everything else is falling flat. The fujoshi girl is a toxic asshat and I wanna delete her existence. Li Cheng is an idiot. And the stalker is just... yeah self explanatory. So disappointing they butchered the stepbro story. I love stepbro romances, but this one just feels so off and flat.
Honestly looking back, the only good show in this franchise is Right or Wrong. It was well written and had commentary.
For my part I didn't like almost all popular dramas... IOTNBO, Itaewon class, The Heirs and Dots (the worst for…
Hi5. I don't like IOTNBO and DotS. I dislike the Heirs and I find Itaewon Class stupid.
Some of my fave dramas of the last few years are the ones that break the mould like Into the Ring, Be Melodramatic, Diary of a Prosecutor, Just Between Lovers etc.
SAME! The Untamed bored me to hell and I dropped it around episode 10 because it was so badly paced. It wasn't bad per se, but it was so slow that if you stripped away the unnecessary scenes the show probably would've been 14-16 episodes long only.
Surprisingly, I dropped cloy and goblin after the first half.. don’t know why.. i’m not sure if this is a…
I'm in the same boat. The first half of CLOY IMO was laugh worthy, full of cringy, ridiculous, over the top moments (especially the parachute scene in episode 4 IIRC, it reminded me of Bollywood movies) that I couldn't take it seriously even a bit. The show got a bit better near the end but it was full of filler BS still.
I'm with you both about Goblin though. The only good thing about that drama imo was the soundtrack and the bromance. Everything else fell so flat. I'm in my late 20s and shows like Goblin do nothing for me anymore.
MDL ratings are something I take with a grain of salt. Most of the top rated dramas here are quite mediocre if you ask me (viz CLOY, Goblin etc.). So I couldn't care less about the ratings. I try to watch things myself instead of looking at what others are rating.
Which two? I'm curious. I know they discussed coming out, but what is the other one?
I was referring to only Chinese BLs.
Good list. Especially Gaya Si Pelikula, which is the best Asian gay show I've seen in 2020. These types of show, I actually do not like calling "BL" s because they have so much more depth than the BL genre can provide.
I'd add this one there too because it's definitely a satire and a commentary on the BL genre. Another Thai Gay show which could've turned out great was My Ride as it provides a lot of commentary as well, sadly the series seems to have been cancelled. The novel for that was written by a gay man so it's not aimed towards fujotshis.
Great nominations! Chloe Zhao is obviously going to win, hoping for a Youn Yuh-jung win as well! She definitely…
Yep. BAFTA and SAGs voters make up most of AMPAS voters. If she wins either of these ESPECIALLY SAGs, she's unlikely to lose. Zhao is likely to win director as well, gotta wait for DGA.
On another note, she's guaranteed to win this by award gurus. The movie is unlike to win in other categories. Gotta look for the SAGs, WGA, PGA and DGA wins for confirmation.

1. Consent 2. Coming out at ones own pace
And it's not really a LGBT issue per se but it's a Thai BL issue. If you've seen Thai (and Chinese) BLs or have read them you should know that they LOVE to glamourise and glorify rape and sexual assault as some kind of intimate act where the rapist/offender is showing their love for the victim. It's absolutely disgusting to see/read. This show's basically exposing these problematic shows/books for what they are - problematic garbage.
Coming out is also a major issue in Thai and Chinese BLs where people say shit like "I'm not gay, I just love you" or have stereotypical view of things like how gay guys are feminine etc. etc.
Episode 4 was very filler-ish tbh I skimmed most of it but big thumbs up about the added stress on consent. It's so refreshing to see a Thai BL that prioritises consent instead of rape. And more thumbs up on the scene with Gene and his friends needling him about his sexuality. It's basically exposing the bad side of Thai BLs and I'm here for it.
Is Victoria doing good in China? I mean is she a popular actress there? I still stan F(x) and I was always more…
Yes. She's doing very well. Most of her dramas have been big hits in China and she's ranked in celeb power list consistently. I've also been MeU since their debut, I follow all of their solo works as well.
