idk if it's cause I've read (and enjoyed!) an bunch of transmigration/rebirth novels based in the 70's, but I'm really loving this show so far. I like how each of the characters seem to have very specific goals and personalities (even the secondary or minor characters) and don't feel like generic background/side characters that are only there to push the plot for the mains only. Like I can totally see how they have their own stuff going on, even when they're not tied to what the mains are doing. It feels like a breath of fresh air too among all the modern or fantasy dramas that I typically will see. Great attention to details about the era too!
Oh wow I'm literally reading through the novel right now! Had no clue this was coming. Looking forward to this drama, Shen Miao as a character is awesome, super cool and sneaky too haha. I think I'll like Meng Zi Yi as Shen Miao, she's got the "I'm innocent/wasn't me" face imo, and Shen Miao uses that quite a bit in the novel. Hope the filming goes smoothly, much luck to the cast and crew!

Totally agree! I have my gripes w/the male characters, but I think the family dynamic of the Li mother and sisters, as well all the 'slice of life' scenes are excellent. The set pieces and costumes feel genuine and look like care and thought went into making everything look appropriate for that time and not modern stuff made to look period authentic. I like the show less for the romance and more to watch the Li family living their life lol
In the second photo with only women there are seven ladies, who are the other two beside the 5 Li daughters?
the top left is the foster daughter, she doesn't get counted as part of the "5 Li sisters" but is treated as part of the family, is part of major decisions, etc.. The girl just below her (2 hair buns) is the maid of the family.
