Yeah I will. I will agree with what you say, it excalty why I tend to drop dramas as result of subplot things overshadowing the main plot. I honestly loved CD for its cinematography and actors, but the plotline was rather weak imo so. Yeah same I never attack actors. Sometimes I even leave a drama than to rate it them give it a bad score cuz of my taste when others enjoy it.

with the length of our talks, no doubt itd be so large, especially yours π€£ I'll try to revisit some definitely, but some I know I won't even put my tip-toe back into it. I think I actually took 2 major cdramas breaks this year, the one after LOTDT and one after ADWAD before I return with a clearer mindset. Im a very picky watcher so if you can't impress me by the 6th or so episode, I'm out. I mostly avoid modern dramas at all costs, I only choose specifics that tend to not be idol-dramas, but I only tend to watch costume dramas. I'm open to all types of costume dramas whether its revenge, xianxia and so on. One thing this year that cdramas has done is kinda drained my love for romance with the silly SML obsession trope or the love quadrangles they add for no reason at all, so I have been watching dramas that have minimal romance for the past month or so, but hopefully I can get back into it. One thing I also dislike is when there's a bit too romance for me that it kinda overshadows the plot, like in Coroner's Diary, I felt it overshadowed the plot not to even mention how predictable that case solving was, it bored me out. But I'll resee what goes on in my droplist, not to even mention the ones I dropped last year π I dropped more than I've watched lmao.
also thanks for the tips, tho we rarely go out, its quite expensive to π but I do live by the ocean which I usually go in for a dip to feel the coolness of the water. Idk when I'll try to overcome it.

yeah I know the face your fear to overcome, but I really can't, I cannot even have water in my eyes, even I try to rub it out so people usually do, it makes it worse, am one not cut out for it xD. Yeah I know I've been in ocean water few times and always end up sleeping after getting home ofcourse after a shower. You're better than me, I dropped more than 20 this year but I'm thinking of revisiting some as I dropped some primarily due to me getting busy and not have the energy for cdramas, but we'll see, I have a month at home and have nothing better to do.

well tbf I was fairly new at the time to cdramas so I expected better, I find it hard to revisit past dramas as they are very long or look rather outdated. In Jan I make 2 years of watching cdramas, tho I have 28 dramas on my list, I've watched more than that. It may sound weird enough, but if I can't give it a rating of 8.5 or above and was disappointed in it, I remove it from list, before I get mad at the drama for absolutely wasting my time. I don't mind seeing blood nor zombies, I actually watched All of us are dead on Netflix before and enjoyed it lmao. Oh wow, I can't really swim so I don't bother to do those things, had an incident once of drowning at a younger age and just have that fear. Your last sentences are very humourous π€£ I understand.

NSLV are tags they put on shows "nudity" "sex" "language" "violence". It's one of the reasons I stopped watching them, my father watched Money Heist while I was around and the first ep was already begun with a sex scene, I ran out almost immediately lmao π€£. I don't understand why people even find that interesting, it's basically watching glorified p-word. Even since I switched to cdramas I've enjoyed it much better. There's no waiting for seasons 3 years after each other just to have 8 episodes per season. Its ridiculous. Yeah film industry is in its shackles due to short content social media, I mean I watch alot of insta and so on, but I still have my concentration abilities intact surprising somehow. I expected 2025 to be such a good year, but nope it ended being eh, I've become so picky due to it. Yeah same, I left after the 6th episode. Some people really try their best to like dramas mainly cuz of the actors in it, like idc if its my fav actor, if its arse I'm gone, waste 25h+ on something worthless to say you dislike it is insane. We'll see how next year goes, hopefully a bit better, tho I feel we gonna face the same troopy nonsense.
Am actually struggling with the whole ending. Too mismatched, from the parents arc to LQ and even the very end.…
Oh same, I have "Tear-shedding" Land onhold atm, yk I don't do well with moderns, so I'm taking rather slow, I'll continue watching when I'm in the mood again like I was on Wednesday. Yeah no I watched 9 eps so far and I'm already emotional drained, I cried too many times. π π I understand ya

I left that drama after the 24th ep, cuz I really wasn't gonna waste my time on something that is going downhill, its one of the reasons Im picky on my dramas, tho my PTW seems long, I doubt I'll manage to watch them all. I mean I had planned maybe like 40 dramas for 2025 and ended up watching like 13, I even completely left moderns cuz they are deadass boring , I only have a few I'm interested in. Yea I would do the same, its better to adapt the novel into script by the author themselves, tho some scriptwriters are good in, sometimes due to the restrictions, they have to make up new things on the basis of the novel. Like yesterday I completed a drama, and the last arx was so cut out due to the short time it had to complete itself, one of the reasons I'm glad the ep limit was lifted. Some novelists don't even dare to sell their rights. I believe thats the problem with one of CYs dramas "Hero Legend", the novelist seems to refuse to sell the rights since they flimed without their notice of their own novel. I'm just hoping we can see a revival for CDramas, they're my fav, and I don't even watch western series anymore, especially with their trends of having the "NSLV" tags almost everywhere.

Yeah I'm sure the novelists themselves also feels like that when novels are just used as basis. What you said I 100% agree with, the novelists themselves should be the one to adapt into a script. With original scripts, its either it was written so well by a good writer or a complete walk down in poop by someone from as you said "clown" university. Yeah changing of ending isn't good, some dramas I understand won't ultimately get a HE, but there's no need to change endings. I believe the hands in charge of film industry in China had made statements on how they plan to combat the drought its facing atm, and that begun with the removal of the 40 eps limit, but I haven't seen any new dramas besides Sword into Plowshares that have gone above 40 episodes. I just hope for the sakes they don't ruin this, I need proper buildups in dramas but also ones that don't drag on for eternity. I just hope that can be revival of the long dramas especially in this era of people that have short circuit brains, that can't even concentrate for 20 mins or so. One thing I feel is they should bring an end to short dramas, its a waste of money and effort they could be putting into long dramas, so many novels butchered to become so short. I still havent and wont ever fall for short dramas.

Yeah most of the novels they adapt seems to come from the late 2000s to early 2010s and for some or whatever reason all these novels tend to follow similar tropes and basis, which makes me wonder if it was just a trend at that point in time. I have spoken multiple to others on here that we really need something innovative and creative that doesn't rely on following troopy schemes. Yeah there is really a need for new scriptwriters and directors, and ones that actually look at the trends of what interests people to be invested into a drama, instead of wanting to have your own way and having the drama flop. Yeah its time they try new things out, especially since long dramas seem to be dying out. There are slim chances of its rival now.
Am actually struggling with the whole ending. Too mismatched, from the parents arc to LQ and even the very end.…
Yeah the last arc felt so condensed, everything just happened and continued to happen, I recollected my thoughts and thought but all the arca before this were amazing, if it weren't for restrictions of 40 eps limit, we probably could've gotten a better build up than everything being thrown at our faces. That said with the lift on the episode rule if im correct will definitely help dramas like this that need to be longer. Anyway whats your next drama destination Megi? π

π Its a bit hard since I love Chinese fantasy dramas, its either its good or its arse, no in-betweens, but honestly I just hope they'd stop rushing scripts to begin filming, cuz its horrible. Yeah I dropped it almost immediately after the plotline went haywire. Yea seems alots of deaths in this one. HE and CY in the same sentence doesn't seem to exist, but we'll have to see with this one.
