I loved the anime too. The Taiwanese version really isn't terrible - You get used to Xiang Qin. Once you do, it's the best version. The korean is pretty terrible. >_> I never watched the original japanese one because fans of the series says it sucks, but the new remake is okay I guess.

Watched the two first episodes ages ago, didn't catch on. Tried the third not too long ago and it got me interested. Okay drama, you made your point. Off my dropped list you go.

No, Reply is not about about that. Lots of the characters don't even have interests in idols. It's just about people who look back at their life at an alumni meeting, and we get the story chronologically from the beginning. It's a brilliant watch, you should check it out some time.

You're way off on Siwon.<br />The whole point of the Siwon character was to show the way extreme fandom influences teens because of the idol industry. Siwon may not be at the top of her class, but she's witty and quick, and has good street smarts. She's passionate about her fanfiction writing because it captures her intrests, and her teacher uses that for her advantage. It was smart and clever, and it got her places. <br />The drama also showed how she evolved out of the teenage hysteria and how she grew up.

Also, let me emphasize that you chose one specific genre of drama to go after here (except Reply). In case you didn't notice most romcoms are about cheesy female leads falling for obnoxious flower boys (after hating each other for 5-6 episodes). If you don't like it, watch some melodramas instead and don't waste our time.
