As a gay guy, I found it deeply uncomfortable to watch. The awkwardness was exhausting, the conversations often felt flat, and the whole season had this heavy, strained energy that made it painful to watch.
The reshoot is a huge part of the problem. I feel like some contestants returned with emotional baggage and prior history already hanging over everything. You could feel that imbalance the whole time, especially for the newer contestants.
Instead of feeling affirming or heartfelt, it often felt like people were being pushed through emotional pressure for the sake of a show. Not uplifting. Not fun... Rooting for every single one of the guys, though, and hoping they will all find meaningful connections outside of the show.
Toxin Films must seriously believe that all they have to do to keep an audience watching one of their series is…
Yes! Their content is highly problematic, and I'll go as far as to call it smut. The acting is beyond lacklustre, and has the resemblance of an ill-produced high school musical at best. I’m uncomfortable with how often these shows sexualise teen-coded characters and youthfulness. Even if the cast are adults, the presentation can feel exploitative. Cartz Udal (Ursula) has been the latest, annoying, one-dimensional addition to this rubbish. Anyhoo, thanks for the vent!
