The writer of the novel seems to really enjoy toxic family dynamics for some reason. All 4 of the main characters are tied to such patronizing relatives that it makes me think if North's parents were still alive, they would also have been portrayed as horrible people. From the moment they revealed Tim's shady parents cowardly ran away from the debt, I knew they didn't care about the house and a huge chunk of the problem could've been avoided if it was sold from the beginning. As much as I understand these are all plot devices to "justify" Tim's scam, having him finally being honest to Pai in episode 11, after a 2 month time skip in the previous one, makes it not feel as genuine as I'd have hoped, and more out of pressure so Pai won't be swayed by anyone else, not just Kuea.

With one more episode remaining, and looking from the outside in, I feel like Tim hasn't fully earned his spot beside Pai. Tim acts too jealous and entitled at times while Pai has yet to learn to love himself more, which makes me doubt they'll last long term without professional help. I expect even more time skips since Pai said he wanted to take it slow. Even for romantic comedy standards, some of the resolutions feel like band-aid fixes to deeply rooted traumas. In many instances they seem to dance around the edge of drama with this couple and their surroundings, but not fully committing, almost as if there is a line they can't cross. Tim apologized quicker to his parents when he had no reason to faster than to Pai, whose life he turned upside down with his scam. Ultimately, it's Pai's decision. I may not like it but, if he's happy, then congratulations, I guess.

YuNorth saga, though, 10/10. No notes.

Pai needs a trip to the therapist asap. both his ex-bf and his family are treating him like shit and he's just...…
Indeed. Since the last chapter I've been thinking he should've been seeking therapy. It wouldn't be so bad if North hadn't immediately sided with Tim after the reception. I loved Pai as a character at first but now I can only see him as a pushover for his family and Tim. So in that sense, we are right back where we started since he's succumbing to both instead of setting boundaries or putting his foot down. It tells me he has very low sense of self-worth and it's just really sad.

Yu had got to be one of the most well-rounded characters I've seen in a long time and he turned out to be my favorite in the entire series and of Ohm's career so far. I love that he's far from perfect but he has proven to be not only exceptionally bright and honorable, but also emotionally intelligent. The fact that he is able to apologize, communicate and be vulnerable with North just shows that, even though he was raised by a monster like his mother, his real self has always been the completete opposite of hers. His arc led him exactly where I believe he deserves to be.

It's a shame that the same series also has one of the characters I dislike the most. TimPai became quite a disappointing aftermath to a build up of that proportion to me. I don't like how everything just conveniently fell into place, especially regarding such a toxic family dynamic so I gave up hoping for a meaningful conflict from a story-telling standpoint in that regard. Also the fact that Pai never had the upper hand over Tim since the reveal makes their relationship seem like there is a hierarchy instead of a balance. But if that's what makes Pai happy, so be it. I adore JuniorMark, and yet I might be fast forwarding their scenes here from now on.

I agree 100%. Tim has made zero sacrifices in order to win Pai back. Yu slept in a playpen, helped with North's…
I meant in the series, but it doesn't matter. At this point we should agree to disagree, we are just going in circles and honestly, I'm not gonna be as invested or expect much from TimPai story line in the upcoming episodes. I'm not gonna fully drop since I still look forward the YuNorth moments but again, personally, I am not satisfied with how the aftermath of the main scam progressed.

Tim's family abandoned him just like Yu's mother did with him. It's been what? 2 years and they might have just as well made a new life in China. They left him to handle the debt. What guarantee there is they will come back. Love is not gonna pay the bills. Providing a solution to a problem he caused is not enough to me particularly. Just because it's comedy doesn't mean it can't get real sometimes. See Your Love is a perfect example of that. Pai is still clearly hurt and there is still trauma. That's not gonna disappear overnight. How can you draw the line where the truth ends and the lie begins after that one year full of lies. It's just too easy. Everybody is mad at Pai for not forgiving Tim but nobody is mad at Tim for scamming Pai.

I agree 100%. Tim has made zero sacrifices in order to win Pai back. Yu slept in a playpen, helped with North's…
I did pay attention. I called that house stupid because it's still a material asset at the end of the day. Both Tim and Pai were completely strapped for cash and like Prem said, if he sold it he could have had half of his debt settled. It's also the same house his parents so easily abandoned along with his son, so he's holding onto something that was never real to begin with. Like I said, Yu is willing to sue his own flesh and blood to provide for them, and that wasn't easy either. He couldn't make the call himself, yet to protect North and have a chance to get some money back, he understood it had to be done and asked Prem to handle it.

That debt can also be a danger to Pai in the long run. The debt collector in MRS might not be nice and hot like First in CFC. Before he even tries to force a romance, Tim has to work on himself too. It's not like he doesn't know what to do either, when he was the one who advised Yu how to make it right with North. I think he should give Pai space. Here we have Pai going on dates the same day the divorce was finalized and now he's kissed his ex again? It's way too rushed. A relationship has to be EARNED. The REAL Tim hasn't yet and Pai shouldn't have to compromise just because he wants to be loved. He needs to love himself and right now I don't believe he does. To me Tim already betrayed Pai's trust again by setting up a fake profile to meet him.

Even if they get back together, the stigma of that relationship isn't going away. They both need therapy. Couples therapy if that's what it'll take to heal. I want to root for Tim, I really do, but he's not worthy of Pai's affections at this point in my opinion. He has no career, no money, owes loan sharks and has yet to apologize sincerely. I know they will end up together, but it's weird seeing Yu take so many steps to show his love for North while Tim can just say a few cute words and achieve the same goal. I understand it might not be the resolution I would have liked to see but it all still feels very forced.

As much as i love Yu's redemption arc like how he didn't suddenly get rich but instead he is helping north standup…
I agree 100%. Tim has made zero sacrifices in order to win Pai back. Yu slept in a playpen, helped with North's bakery, returned the dowry money, granted the divorce by himself, took legal action against his own mother, accepted Grandpa's terms to provide more for him and North, is teaching North how to be more independent so they can both thrive. Meanwhile Tim is "tHe PeN iS oUt Of InK". He still has that stupid house, the car, and is whining his way back onto Pai's good side. I don't find any of that romantic, cute, or deserving. The Tim Pai loved died during that reception. Pai shouldn't even be going out on dates with anyone at this time. He needs therapy, to gather his thoughts and rebuild his self-esteem. This forced proximity trope didn't grant us even a chance to breathe. I'm beyond disappointed in Pai, because he does not need to settle for an obnoxious scammer drowning in debt. If they are back together this quickly, then the divorce was completely pointless.

I feel like I'm missing something. Does Pai really want a man throwing a tantrum whenever he's rejected? And am I supposed to believe a few clothes and a small talk at the mall is enough to make up for one year of lies and deceit? Unfortunately I can't say this is unrealistic because real people take lying, cheating partners back all the time. Doesn't make this any less unsatisfying, though. At this point I'm watching this series for YuNorth. I truly enjoy their visuals, chemistry, healthy relationship and communication.

Junior just said there's going to be a competitor for Tim coming soon... 👀. He said they'll make fans satisfied…
Please not P'Great again. Usually I find jealousy tricks overdone, but I can totally get it if the ML is insecure around Great, because I mean, c'mon. If he's in MRS too, Imma have to call P'Bright to come get his man.

I don't wanna say many negative things because I do get most of the reasoning for why the characters are acting…
Also, it's not like Tim doesn't know what he has to do. He advised Yu and it worked out so why is he being so nonchalant about the whole thing? The real Yu turned out to be so much better than the fake Yu, yet the real Tim so far is a massive downgrade from the Tim Pai fell for. He seems completely remorseless, arrogant and financially irresponsible. Please Tim, give me a reason to want you and Pai back together. Kuea already gave the land deed back to Pai, so if Tim doesn't treat him right, at some point Pai is gonna leave and all Tim will have is that empty house his parents so quickly abandoned. Get your priorities straight, man.

I'm sorry, but Tim at this point is still unforgivable. And he keeps doing things that can harm Pai in the future. Taking out a loan on the car when they are still married? We have Yu granting North the divorce, returning the money and willing to take legal action against his own mother to provide for them all while Tim is making jokes about letting Pai live rent free? When he's the reason they are all in this predicament? If he really loves Pai, he would've sold the house and gotten a smaller place for them all, that house is way too big for the 4 of them, not to mention the taxes on that lot must be so high.

I know this is a rom com, but we definitely needed a better conflict between Tim and Pai. North helping out Tim annoys me a bit as well since a couple of episodes back he made a big deal about not being able to trust a scammer, how it would never work between him and Yu, and yet he keeps pushing Pai to forgive him when Yu and Tim are nowhere near comparable. I just don't see Tim doing anything to redeem himself. He's more of a liability than an asset right now, especially after getting hurt for not taking care of the house like Pai told him to.

Ok hear me out: I had a hard time getting into this. I’m sure part of it was getting used to Ohm/Poom; I didn’t…
OhmPoon's disadvantage at first was the debut with a series where their characters meet and marry on the first episode, instead of a slow burn courtship or a palpable sexual tension. So for many, that relationship didn't feel organic or natural, but that's just the show's format. They are only able to display their full chemistry when their characters are completely honest with each other and I was sure they would not disappoint.

I think they really dropped the ball on the emotional confrontation. SO much more could've been done in terms…
Maybe I watched too many Mexican telenovelas growing up, but I genuinely thought Pai would've been the one to crash out during the reception and destroyed the stuff after the revelation, not the women. It feels disjointed that the victims are being portrayed as the evil ones when Tim himself has yet to face any consequences for any of that one year scheme. At this point, Yu has gone through worse and he's done not even one tenth of what Tim has, and the preview for the next episode doesn't fill me with confidence he will in a fair manner. Because I really don't want Pai to end up like a doormat of a character after everything over stuff like geckos. Granted it's funny, and it's a rom-com but it doesn't feel proportionate to the deceit. We'll see.

wow really wasn’t expecting negative comments but I do understand the need for more time with Pai mad at Tim.…
Pai's character is very much explosive. The lengths he went to sue and try to get Yu arrested the moment he learned about him. Not to mention he tried to actually punch Yu immediately after he didn't agree to divorce North. He was much angrier about it than his own cousin. I get it's different when he learned he had been a target as well given how long Tim built this image of perfect boyfriend, but the way he was with Yu for so many episodes created an expectation that Pai would be sadder and avoid Tim for much longer even though he's disowned by the family now. Like if he stayed with Kuea instead for instance. We were just so prepared for a level of angst that seemed over halfway through. There are still quite a few things to be revealed about the scam though, like Tim's mounting debt, his connections, who threw the bottle during the commotion. But I'm also still enjoying the series despite my mixed feelings over this episode.

Yeah but then telling Pai's parents they aren't allowed to help their own son? That sounds a bit tyrannical. I do think Pai should've played the game until Grandpa died so he could make his own decisions about his life but really? Not even a "Are you okay?" towards Pai after that turmoil during the wedding?

i don't get the hate for grandpa. Pai gets disowned from the family himself, willingly takes the responsibility…
My distaste for Grandfather is that he prioritizes the family business way too much. North lost his parents at a young age, and the family, while providing him materially, didn't give any emotional support for him growing up. Pai was made incumbent by Grandpa of taking care North so that forced him to grow up quickly and it shattered any chance of them having a normal cousin relationship. And even though Pai is strict, North never saw him as an authority figure. That led North to have an extremely sheltered lifestyle, completely alienated by the sheer fortune he had at his disposal while Pai had to deal with the pressure of inheriting everything. I mean the scammers themselves proved to care more about Pai and North's feelings than the rest of the family.

He never slept with those women that’s canon one of them said so herself he only met with them went out to eat…
Oh, thanks for clarifying that. I still consider cheating meeting women behind Pai's back over money like that. I get he was in a predicament, but it's much more humiliating than what Yu "did".

I wasn't expecting any of what happened this episode after the big reveal. And I don't know if that's a good thing. I know this is comedy, but I was hoping for Tim to at least get hauled out of the reception by security or the police. He would've spent one or a couple of nights in jail before Pai asks his toxic Grandfather to drop the charges and gets disowned. Unlike Yu, Tim actually cheated Pai with those women, and that is actually so dangerous, especially with how sexually active they were being.
I still don't understand how falling for Pai would've disrupted Tim's plans. "Oh poor me, forced to have awesome sex with my gorgeous billionaire husband that I love." But it's the plot so I'll save my final judgement for the last episode. There are still knots remaining that I want to see tied and I'm living for the OhmPoon moments. They are absolutely adorable.

Wait back up a second you think Mac’s character has psychopathic vibes 😧 I just see him as a spoiled boy…
Could be. Again, I'm just basing on his vibes. It's episode 6 and I haven't seen a single emotional reaction from him while his mother has sudden outbursts over the most trivial stuff. I might be over-analyzing his character, and it's no way a jab at Mac's acting, since to me he's hitting the psychopathy traits masterfully. Lack of empathy, constant need for stimulation, emotional detachment... I'd enjoy if he is one indeed because they are around us. This series does a good job at showcasing mental issues, traumas and societal pressure even through comedy so I wonder what is in for his character. I could be wrong though, he could turn out to be a good guy and that would also be fine by me.

I've been so excited to see Ohm and Poon together, and this whole thing is base on a lie. I don't know if I can…
This is more of a redemption arc and character growth trope than a conventional romance. And I think it's been done pretty well so far because the characters are all fascinating in their own ways. But I understand it might not be for everybody. OhmPoon have another series coming, though.
