Let’s just say this is the slickest, most professional thing Star Hunter has ever produced. And so far, a very good letter of apology for subjecting us to Gen Y 2.

As for the reviewer who got exasperated with how long it took for Tawan to realize his bf was cheating on him, let me say just this: darling, I’ve met people who took longer than 8 episodes to realize their significant other was cheating on them.

This is very well-done cotton-candy fluff: charming characters, great rhythm, and lots of spot-on humor. It doesn’t aim at re-inventing the wheel. It’s old school tame kisses and naive characters but thank heavens it doesn’t take place at college. What it sets out to do, it does really well. It’s a solid soapie BL. Bonus: a killer dimple.

So far so very good. It’s the kind of over-the-top zaniness the Thai do really well (Bad Romance, My Engineer, YYY…). Top cast, production, direction. But if they try to sustain this plot for 6 or 7 more episodes, it will get tired and boring really fast. I mean, the whole Van Gogh misunderstanding in the age of Google is something we’re able to overlook because of the actors’ winning charms but there’s only so much Nuea-advances-Toh-recoils-and-advances-Sky-flirts-Jao-rebuffs you can get away with. I hope I’m wrong and they’ve got crazier subplots up their sleeves (Prao as a funny villain, Daisy as a basketball star, Som and Tor, a rival challenging Nuea for Toh’s affection, the possibilities are endless).

There are only two words to describe it: pure cringe.

Yes. If it’s actually based on his life, I’ve spent most of it experiencing flashbacks, he’s got memory issues (the finale of part 1 retconned in the beginning of part 2), he must have a hell of a beef with the real-life Non, and the real-life King crossed paths with a 14-year-old boy.

Valen’s ever-changing hair length really gets on my nerves. The way the writers treat Non is a perfect example of the word ‘sadistic’.

I guess it sets the record for most broken hearts per square mile in a single BL series.

The cast are at the top of their games but Pluem’s comic timing here is pure gold!

I guess if you’re into massive doses of bullying and masochism, this is for you. ‘People are complicated’ is repeated a lot on the comments. Yeah, they are, but it’s still 4 episodes of massive bullying and masochism, sorry.

I really like this show’s rhythm: the silence, the long pauses, the slow line delivery. It’s really soothing, different and I keep coming back for more. My only complaint is about the editing: the passage of time can be confusing sometimes so we end up having a hard time guessing what’s flashback or current events (Nuna’s affair was a storytelling mess). As for episode 10 (no spoilers), if the dialogue on that last scene was not ad-libbed, the acting was top-notch. Damn, even if the scene was entirely improvised, the final result was perfect!

I thought Viphob would flirt with Aek.

The show is a virgin’s dream: it’s episode 8 by now, not even a kiss but there’s already a love triangle!

The good thing about this botched out-of-nowhere finale (‘I’d applied to work abroad but I forgot, gee sorry’) — and let’s not even talk about the insensitivity of showing a couple’s make-up sex scene right after another couple’s painful breakup — is that they’ve got an excuse to make another version of A Tale of A Thousand Stars to be called The Legend of Pobleon.
