On this day and age, are BL writers still using the rape trope (yeah, that thing in episode 3 was rape) under the excuse that it’s dark blah blah blah? It’s not bold, it’s cliched.
This is actually… really good? I also like the small details like the very discreet make-up. In an era of AI slop series propping up impossible beauty standards, it’s really refreshing to see actual human beings and the blemishes on their skin instead of caked-up faces without pores.
PS: if you’ve been put off by the amount of misery or the sometimes confusing intersecting stories in episode 1, be patient. Episode 2 has the plot down and running and offers some glimmers of hope.
After all the embarrassing or boring shows Domundi has put James through, they’ve finally given him something decent, he’s nailing the hell out of the evil bitch. And he brings a touch of class to the character. It’s his best role yet.
It's a good thing Be On Cloud gave up trying because there's no way they can top this.
Swooning, sexy, heartbreaking, sophisticated, tense, funny, slick. Up there with I Told Sunset About You in the sense that this is the high bar every other BL has to be measured against.

Love Destiny and Don’t Be Too Emotional: two series that started strong, not necessarily original but engaging, had great production values, nice leads, and all the elements in place to end nicely. Then, on an act of self-sabotage, they decided to fumble big time in the last two episodes. They had EVERYTHING right THERE to wrap it up but decided to make a mess: rushed plots, mishandled characters, you name it. Why? Was there no therapist in the house?
Er, that backstory the writers gave to Dan out of nowhere in the last episode (why?) actually made Big Jane look like a jerk again. And nobody discusses the topic after that! It’s really weird. The way they just discard the character leaves a really bad taste in what was supposed to be a happy ending. Again, why did they do that???
The other episodes were great but the writing in episode 9 is all over the wall: Gael swearing eternal love, knowing how much Dech loves him, and then asking for Dech to perform the dark spell again so he can leave is totally bonkers and off character.
That ending was cuteness overload! When Ongsa started singing, I melted. The Matrix scene was really funny and the father-son moment in jail was great. Loved this show: great lakorn, lots of crying, melodramatic with all the tropes and cliches they could fit, engaging, everybody was great. Thanks to everyone involved!
Btw, Nine is a great example of smart people doing really dumb stuff.
