OK, for those who are arriving now, let's get it out of the system: this is NOT BL. There is a gay couple here (more on that later) but they're just one part of the plot. And I don't know if it was a good idea to have it as an installment in the Close Friend franchise.
Having said that, this is a great series. I came onboard having seen the trailer and thinking 'meh.' My expectations were very low and I was pleasantly surprised.
It's the basic booze-blackout comedy setup: a group of characters drink a lot and wake up the next day in a strange place knowing nothing about the events that led them there. Here it's five Thai guys who are trying their luck as members of a boy band in South Korea. As usual, we know as much as the characters and the fun lies in finding out what happened along with them. And of course there's all sort of bonkers (and sweet) stuff. The gay couple remains a mystery for most of the series. The writers take their time teasing and making us guess who they are, and that's it.
So if you're looking for a BL comedy and won't accept anything else, walk straight ahead to two adorable Japanese shows: Although I Love You, and You? and I Became the Main Role of a BL Drama. For the rest of us, Soju Bomb is great, unpretentious fun. The actors do a great job, the characters are engaging, directing is ace, and the soundtrack is snappy. Go ahead and laugh at me but I think this is one of the great shows of 2024 so far. But c'mon, how many other shows out there this year have got this level of chaotic energy?
The new Kiseki series is also on GagaOOLala. I gave up Viki. It seems they gave up BL series and are just re-hashing GMMTV series everybody’s already seen on YouTube.
How is he a home wrecker when Shin has been single for years and was never even in a relationship before. He made…
That was in jest. Apparently I don’t take this as seriously as you. I said Peach was a home wrecker because Oab was all happy fantasising about having Shin for himself until Peach arrived. And after Peach started working in the bakery, Guy left, a friendship ended, and a heart was broken. Also, I found Guide and Poom to have great chemistry together. Just that.
GMMTV's handling of the whole international rights mess is really baffling considering that 1) they've got lawyers to oversee this contract; 2) this is not the first time they've adapted foreign source material; 3) it had already happened when they released the first trailer of the series some months ago.

Plus: sorry but I'm Team Guy through and through.
