... I was crying when it ended. I want to see more. But the first episode was a fun ride, and I actually did crack up in some parts. My nugget is doing good as always.
This movie was stressful... I was stressed for all the characters. Like... !!!!!!??? And the camera work kind of hurt... me, personally. It's like, I get what they're trying to do, but I got motion sickness from it. If you don't take it seriously and just watch it to see how exhausting it might have been for the actors then... you've got a winner. If you have motion sickness, you might want to skip it. *shrugs*
This may just be me, but sometimes I feel that people that watch these movies see them through a western or non-South Korean lense and expect the police from a country that is not theirs to react the same way as the police from their country. Like... Are you all forgetting you're watching a South Korean thriller? Clearly the police and society as a whole, still doesn't know how to deal with people who have disabilities. This is such a big example of it. Whether it was fictional or not. Either way, I really loved this movie. I loved how despite having such a huge challenge of not being able to communicate with basically an ENTIRE society, the lead was amazing at trying to survive. The part where she was really trying to express herself to the killer, who clearly is not listening cause psycho piece of shit, almost made me cry. How frustrating it must be to have to live around people who don't even make an effort to communicate with you and think you're dumb for not being able to do so. Like the inconsiderate is too high on these folks. Also love how the villain here, once again, was just seen as some asshole who just kills. I don't give a fuck about his feelings. He's over here trying to kill everyone, including disabled people, that's like the lowest low you can go on any fucking scale of psychos. Aka- great job to the actor, he made that villain hateful. I was happy when they shot his ass down. Anyway, gave this 9.5 outta 10. I was really rooting for the lead. She deserved the good ending she got.
lol I shouldn't have read the comments before giving my take on the last episode... but okay.
I hate how people want to know the motives of a psycho in order to fulfill themselves with that... What do you call that shit that people have... Morbid fascination for this shit? This isn't one of those fucking desensitizing youtuber true crime stories. I don't want to know the motives of a psychopath. I just want them to be portrayed as the psycho they are and that's it. Clearly, this wasn't the story about that. If I wanted to watch a story about that I'll just go watch 'Strangers From Hell', 'The Guest', or something along those lines.
Whatever the case, and because it is very close to REAL, and the reactions of the characters are insanely real, and the whole premise is insanely fucking real[keeping in mind SOUTH KOREAN culture], I left this drama's score at 9.5, five points above its predecessor 'Beyond Evil'.
I feel like this is 'Beyond Evil' in softer tones and even more aesthetics, and also giving women, despite Dahyun's bad decisions, the chance to LIVE, aka- become survivors instead of just victims, or a skeleton found with some rings on their skeletal fingers, or fingers with pretty painted nails with crystals on them. I feel honestly if this drama would have shown the remains of children, I would have probably put it all the way down to a 5 outta 10.
But thankfully, the writer was sensitive in their depictions and the way this story was also directed was beautiful. Thank you to everyone who worked on this. The actors, the staff, the director, EVERYONE. I loved it. I appreciated it, and I am thankful for it.
Loved it.
P.S. I am with the MAJOR part of people who think 'Beyond Evil' is a masterpiece, because I AGREE. This story 'LINK', is not a 'Masterpiece' but I love the way this story treated its characters. That is important to me, personally.
THE END
P.P.S. I'm really going to miss watching it every Monday and Tuesday and getting excited for the crazy on repeat tweets made by fans. [I mean.... there's only so much of the same scene and same things I can see about this stuff, but I do like to dig out the gems every now and then. Yes, on Twitter. Tumblr is ... I don't know what the fuck happened to Tumblr[i still post on there, it's more like a private journal now. lol.] YouTube is also hard ... None of the stuff is usually subtitled, but I still watch it anyway.]
9.8 just cause Yeo Jin Goo is hot af and cries beautifully. The whole drama has him crying and... my goodness what an eyegasm. =) [well, i can't give it that, cause it's cut in increments of .5... but yeah. That's the highest score I shall give it. Just for Yeo Jin Goo and all his crying scenes which are beautiful.]
the way i was screaming at her to throw shiet at him omfgg.. fight for life woman ! when he was on the floor she…
Not everyone has the flight or fight response when being faced with situations like these. Sometimes the fear makes people just freeze. I think that's what happened to Dahyun, because when I was watching the scenes I too was screaming at her to do something, but... Then again, would I do something if I was in that situation? Whatever the case, I was about to take points off for this, but then I remember how everyone is different in their responses to threatening situations. Dahyun does not have that type of response. She just freezes in fear, that's her character, and throughout this series I learned to accept it.
People hate being reminded of their truth. They hate others holding up a mirror to them and making them see their reflection. This entire episode reflected on why it's hard trusting people sometimes or most of the times. You may see someone every day and think they got your back, but at the least expected moment and you may be in need, they will turn their back on you and leave you behind.
I think that's what's most hearbreaking. This particular episode really broke my heart. I was especially sad when I saw poor Gyeyoung asking people for help and they didn't. Asking the kidnapper to just let her go, and he didn't. It's things like these that a lot of people all over the world go through[and probably in much worse ways], and most of us the privileged who never go through shit like this, think it's so boring, and it's so nonsensical, and we want it to go back to fiction and happiness and stuff that will not remind us of our own faults.
We claim that none of that shit is real and people wouldn't act like that in real life. If you really do think that way, then it must be nice to have so much privilege. The writer's message here was so clear, it left me breathless. It was so hard to take, I had to take a few hours to calm down and process it all.
I'm still very heartbroken, because when you reflect this on real life, you know and realize it's so so much worse.
As I had said from the beginning, this drama was written to reflect real life, despite its whimsical feel from some of the earlier episodes and every now and then, that LINK situation that still happens to both Gyehoon and Dahyun. The writer really is reflecting real life, and it's heartbreaking, but also bold. If this has a happy ending, it might be a little off putting.... But I guess to calm the masses of people who like happy endings you gotta give them what they want. I personally wouldn't be surprised if it ended on a bad note and or bittersweet note. It would make a lot of sense, given the way things started turning out in the last few episodes.
I also feel there might have been script changes, because I feel there was set up for a lot more to go down, but perhaps the writer had to change some things due to ratings and or whatever was going down behind the scenes, we never know.
Whatever the case may be, I'm still wondering what will happen in the last two episodes. i'm already stressed with the trailer, cause Dahyun is once again in trouble, but... When is this woman not in trouble? I had said it already, she stresses the fuck out of me for being so bold in such a fucked up neighborhood, but... There are people like that in real life, believe it or not. Even if some of you think it's ridiculous, there are people who will run around in crazy ass neighborhoods not minding their surroundings and well.... inviting trouble over to them. It's also heartbreaking to think about.
I did find it strange that she was included in all of the promotional activity and posters. Honestly, it could…
That would be so tricky to pull off, but I would be so happy too! Imagine she really is that lady cop and just managed to fool everyone for ages that she was missing. And the actress Lee Bom Sori does make sense as Yeo Jin Goo's twin sister here, even if fraternal. But yeah that would be so amazing and it would save the drama, for me personally. This last episode broke my heart so much for Gyeyoung.
I liked Flower of Evil, as a matter of fact, and I am waiting around for to watch When The Camelia Blooms.
Let me skip to the last part where you asked, should we be surrounded by positive opinions, then? Of course, not. When media is put out like this, it's still going to get criticized. Some people are going to like it, some are not. The thing is, just like you have the right to say you don't like something, someone else, out there is going to give you a very practical solution, stop interacting with it. While it may sound very off putting, especially if you've taken the time to engage with whatever piece of media you may be into at that time, or referring to, it's something that's going to happen.
Yes, to some people, when someone forces themselves to watch something they don't like, and then come back and criticize it because of that very reason, it seems a bit too much? So they go with their first logical [or illogical depending on your pov] answer to that, and that's usually 'WELL DON'T WATCH IT! DON'T ENGAGE WITH IT! IGNORE IT!'
While that in itself is a good way to avoid your own headaches.... it's probably not what you will choose to do, right? Like you said, you had time, and you wanted to continue in hopes that you would find something amazing about it.
Welcome to the club. I have that kind of opinion about a lot of dramas too. I stayed and I regretted it. Either way, and in conclusion, we can agree to disagree on LINK. I feel it's very sweetly written, while you feel it's not. And that's fine. Hope you find a good drama soon to watch that does meet your expectations. Thank goodness there's tons of those to go around. =)
Giant (60 episodes), all episodes are interesting and there are no unnecessary episodes. But all the episodes…
I guess we'll agree to disagree on that. I think the writer was trying and had a lot more to say, and probably needed a lot more episodes to tell their story. I still give them kudos for trying to make this quirky plot into a multi genre type story. The only thing I can criticize about it, is that ... Aside from Gyehoon explaining why the LINK phenomenon was happening to him [or trying] at the beginning, it still hasn't explained well why he feels Dahyun and Dahyun every now and then feels him, when it was something he very strictly shared with his twin sister, whom up to this point, we all think is dead, or is dead.
This is one of those types of shows which has no FILLERS as some more impatient people around here are calling…
I want to watch that, actually. I'm already in love with the FL just with bits and pieces alone i have seen here and there on the internet. And as for LINK, I hope you enjoy it, if you decide to go back to it. =)
I think the deal is character design. I feel that JooWon is from a very posh background, even before he became…
Yeah it's a very normal style going on, nowadays. I still insist that YJG as Gyehoon looks so snuggly in those clothes. Makes them look a thousand times cuter for some reason. Yes, he doesn't look smolderingly sexy like JooWon does [because who are we kidding, Joo Won is... to be quite honest sex on feet.... but...that's a story for many many fanfics out there. lol] BUT, I appreciate teddy bear Gyehoon. lol. Needs improvement on them pants, but that's ok.
Most correct observation I have seen... on the internet... IN YEARS. lol. yeah, people nowadays have the attention…
lol .... I just pointed out in another comment if these people actually read books? None of the shit is revealed so fast, and everything happens with insane attention to details, even of the most mundane things. I feel this series/drama is like a book. It is being told patiently, detailed, and everything has a reason for being there or happening.
I just have one criticism, but not of the drama itself. The drama itself is doing fine. Hell, I have even gotten used to Dahyun being brave [albeit in a very stressful way for me], and going out there to find answers for herself... But... For the watchers/audience that are so impatient.
.............. Ya'll should read a book. Really, if you are annoyed with insane details, even of the mundane type, ya'll probably don't read.
How do you expect this writer to fit a whole ass detailed story in only 16 episodes, but you want EVERYTHING revealed right away? lol. Like... no. Ya'll would have hated the korean dramas of back then. Even Yeo Jin Goo was in some of those.
These dramas were running about 128 episodes or more, or even 40, or 50 or more at exactly one hour PLUS some minutes! The writers back then had a lot to say. Nowadays, they can't say much, and if they do say much, their works are called draggy and or boring and or 'not fun or romantic' enough. lol.
I also insist some of you did not look at the teaser posters or hell even the teasers for this drama. While you all were probably too busy thinking you wanted a romantical type thing, the teasers were saying noooooo we are going to include some murder in there, some comedy, some documentary, [documentary cause... I remember that stupid part which had me screaming where Gyehoon takes Dahyun to homeplus and they're all... yeah. lol. ] just a lot of things. It's one of those genre mixing things. I loved doing that with my own writing back in the day. But now that I see writers actually doing it in the real world, it makes me happy!
And even if you all get mad... Just don't watch it. Just leave it. Go on to something more short and fast, just like the videos on Tiki ti toki ti, or Vines... Wait, I hear Vine is obsolete now. lol. See? Even that is obsolete now!? ya'll are too much in a hurry nowadays. What are you running for? What are you running from? What is the hurry?
Anyway... yeah... Calm yourselves.
... Next time I'll do what you all do. I'll go into the drama page of the dramas I disliked the most and just talk about them and why I find them BORING. While I know I have the right, it just doesn't feel fun. Like yeah yeah, I hated them, but why give time to something I hate, when I can sit here and talk for hours about something I love, or am loving, instead?
P.S. EPISODE 13 had me screaming... I especially loved the scene where they all gathered to eat 'A FEAST' as they called it. Also, very high key was thinking, WOW Dahyun's grandma and mom are gonna have so much delicious food for the rest of the week, or even weeks! .......... How yummy. lol.
sad i can't get into this. watched all 12 episodes while skipping, just never really got my attention; the mystery…
This is one of those types of shows which has no FILLERS as some more impatient people around here are calling the supposed useless episodes. The writing is very subtle, and little things reveal big things, gestures mean a lot, it's just one of those types of dramas. Kind of makes me want to go rewatch 'Beyond Evil', because that drama was the same. Every single episode revealed something important, and if you blinked, you would miss it. It's exciting, to me personally. That's the kind of stuff I'm into. Too bad you can't get into it.
I hate how people want to know the motives of a psycho in order to fulfill themselves with that... What do you call that shit that people have... Morbid fascination for this shit?
