Yeah, I figured it was the director's choice, but it felt wrong for all the characters to speak like that. Kotaro was at least a bit different, but that actor always seems to be a bit out there in both looks and personality. He always stands out to me ( and I mean that in a good way.)

1. This show was like eavesdropping on someone's life. I liked it.

2. You could see the relief in Yukio's face as Ayana was confessing her cheating to him. It's like, "Phew, I'm justified in breaking up with her."

3. Yukio basically did what Ayana did, which was confide in a coworker about their significant other. So that didn't feel like it came out of the blue to me.

4. She was right to break it off with her fellow writer. He needs to get his life together.

5. I'm glad Yukio told Ayana to never come back to his shop. I can't believe she had the chutzpah to try to start over with him.

6. I'm glad she remained friends with Kotaro. And I'm glad he knows where he stands. I think the things that were said "about him" that weren't about, turned out to be about him. Calming. Her rock.

7. If I had one conplaint about the show, it would be how slow everyone talked. Nobody takes that much time to complete a sentence in real life. And people talk over each other in real life. I felt like everyone in this show had the same speaking cadence. SLOW.

My thoughts on the final episode. I'll put it all behind a spoiler.

It's refreshing to watch a show where the characters have sex, like normal messy people. The lack of a sound track is also refreshing. It makes me feel like I'm eavesdropping on someone else's life.

The leads had no chemistry. The acting was very wooden, with too many pauses between conversations. And the dancing was practically non-existent.

40 EPISODES? 40? I watched the first episode and thought for sure it was going to be just 8 episodes. Then I looked ahead a little bit to see what was coming up. 40 EPISODES? I went to Google and spoiled the ending for myself so I don't have to wade through 40 episodes of bad acting.

A "contract marriage" with a royal prince? I get marrying up, but a "contract marriage?" What royal family is ever going to let a prince marry an illegitimate woman, or have a contract marriage. Surely they could have come up with a different scenario to get them together?

I don't get the plot at all. It sounds terrible. I love IU, but the plot sounds ridiculous.

Because "Being apart for months with no contact during the last episode" is a box on my K-drama BINGO card. It makes no sense to me, and every single K-drama I've watched has had this trope. Bugs the crap out of me.

I also didn't like the twist at the end where FL finds out her parents are still alive. And that she finds out from her boyfriend and not from her family. AND, that she goes off and we don't even get to see the big interaction with either of her parents.

I liked this show, but the leads annoyed me at the beginning. I also didn't understand why SML needed to move into ML's house, plotwise. I was expecting all 4 to run into each other in the kitchen wearing bathrobes after a night of whoopee and wonder why they were all in the same house, and of course nothing ever happened related to his moving in.

I'll put the rest of my disappointment behind a spoiler below. So DO NOT CLICK ON IT, if you haven't see the last episode. I don't want anyone bitching at me that I spoiled the ending for them, when I specifically put the ending in a spoiler comment so you won't accidentally see it.

I flipped between the two sets of subtitles after I read this thread. Which subtitles were better? I started with the English ADH and then switched to the English, but it still felt off.

I don't speak Korean, but I've watched enough Korean dramas to know when certain words aren't translated correctly.

Why are they speaking English when the subtitles say they are speaking German or Chinese? So confusing.

I actually liked both in this show, but yeah, SoJi Sub is a bit ahead of Seo In Guk. But I thought the BINGO card comment was funny, so it stays in. Haha.
