A lot of people have watched thousands of romance before that's why this was already doomed from the beginning because of the weird main couple relationships. If this drama wasn't based on romance then this has the potential to be one of the best xianxia. They could've played politics in this, adventures like the blood of youth in those backgrounds, or a killing each other types of drama, a big survival one. That would be perfect.
My ratings with some context: - The Universe : 8/10 (different from the usual Immortal realms which is good but badly explain or forgotten especially the void where the villain come from, the tree's origins etc..) - The Story: 6/10 (interesting enough with little intrigue and twist, too many overused romance, staring ...) - The Characters: 5/10 (There are good characters and well portrayed like the beauty and the beast couple but the rest are just fillers and their story meaningless) - The Cast: 9/10 (wonderfull performance by Gong Jun playing the loverboy and Chen Du Lin for playing the damsel in distress full of tricks, the rest are good enough given the poor script they were given) - The Cinematography : 7/10 (too many screenshoot of Tushan tree but very few other locations) - The OST : 6/10 (very few) - The CGI and fight scenes: 9/10 (very cool looking animals, butterflies and others, all weapons were well crafted with details like the director's sword, DFYC's sword; Magic fight was short but very good respecting their level of power and abilities ) - Rewatch Value : 4/10 - My Overall Rating : 7/10
Since i'm not into romance I didn't get disappointed by the lack of chemistry. I came for the wuxia/xianxia elements but still they manage to disappoint me by not bringing enough of it, only towards the end which is so lame. Good luck for the other 2
After the episode with the king, I can't move on from Li lianhua. I tried to be mad but I simply can't 😂 . I'll gladly rewatch this masterpiece one of these days.
