The fact that women are often pretty much only written for the sake of a romance also leads to the shallowness of their writing and why they face so much criticism. Plain old bias plays a part, sure, a cold man character might be seen as mysterious and sexy while the exact same type of woman character would be called a b*tch, but the fact that women are not allowed to exist outside of romance, whether being the object, love rival, or even some evil mother in law leads to objectification and poor writing. It's 2018, so why can't women be written as complex and cool without everything being about romance? And when was the last time you saw a lady in a significant role without being tied to romance in any way?
I want more women in relationships with each other and it's not like I dislike male/female romance I just wish it didn't so often come at the cost of focusing 90% of the effort into making the man fleshed out and attractive and the woman just his sidekick.
Women having absolutely no good relationships with other women like no friends, no siblings, no nothing. Just a really stereotypically b*tchy love rival. This isn't exclusive to kdramas but it's seriously way too common in them and only feeds into the bad cliche that women can't be friends. Women who empower and lift each other up are the best thing and seeing them reduced to just this bores me.
Looking forward to season 2! I've always loved seeing Jae Suk and Kwang Soo interact since Running Man, but this cast all had pretty good chemistry with each other which made it really fun to watch. Hope they keep the members at least mostly the same!
I'm still pissed Kwangsoo stole Sehun's answer in ep 8 HAHA
Yeah I'm a fan of LKS and while I know he's not the fairest person from all those years of Running Man, he usually never goes that far so it was pretty disappointing. I hope he apologized to Sehun later...RM antics should be kept to RM...
Just because a guy is cute, doesn't mean he can do no wrong and that he won't be rejected. To those saying she could be making it up: what good things come from speaking up about sexual abuse? Hmm? Is it the harassment and death threats from the fans of the person you accused? The articles calling you a liar? Millions of people now seeing you as "the one who was assaulted?" He and his agency have already admitted it. He needs to take responsibility. I hope he learns from this and rethinks how he treats women, handles rejection, and, of course, drinks knowing his own limits.
I hope Lee Kwang Soo gets more serious roles like this in the future that really show off his skills. He really did a good job. That said, everyone in this drama had an amazing performance. They were so good that I almost always started tearing up when someone onscreen was crying and got angry and happy with them, too. What an amazing job.
why is GAY in caps lmao you can just say gay it's okay
I am thirsty for dramas with LGBT characters so I will give it a shot, I just hope it won't be too fetishizy or have some annoying girl character that exists solely for female-bashing
Woman judge? Legal drama? Sign me up. I haven't watched anything with Go Ah Ra before, though I've heard plenty. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt though--fighting!! Acting is about improving with experience!
I am so thirsty for dramas with relationships between women that aren't just them fighting over a guy's romantic affection. I will definitely be watching this.
