This is a story about the romance of a 35 year old hard working independent woman with a super cute guy 12 years her junior. The drama defies the traditional norm in a Chinese family and it is also shown in Qin Lan's mom's character, where she always worries about her daughter getting married and always pressure her to not focus on her career and instead find a husband, get married and become a traditional wife. Her mom also tried to matchmake Dylan Wang's character with her friends' daughter, which shows that she has a traditional Asian family values, where female's role in this world is to be a good wife and mother. The focus on this drama on the other hand shows a shift from traditional to modern society values, such as career woman, being single is okay and dating younger man is not a problem.

The drama is not very fast-paced, which is one of my biggest complaints about this show, that i got bored waiting for things to happen. But I still think it's one worth to watch. I like the story, character and the actors. The drama is more on the mature side and the romance is not fluffy, butterfly in your stomach relationship, but it's worth watching.

This is a sad but good movie.

I have watched the series version with Zheng Shuang and Ma Tian Yu and I really enjoyed watching the story as well.
Both the movie and series deal with a difficult and more mature issue, such as bullying, divorce and suicide (Not your typical c-drama romance topic). The actors and actresses I thought portrayed their roles well, especially the movie version. It's like you can feel her heartache and sorrow just by looking at her eyes.

This movie (and the series) are not for everyone, but if you like a "darker" drama theme, I would definitely recommend watching the movie and the series.

Every once in a while I enjoy a drama that's closer to life experiences and not your regular over the top things that "only happens in drama or movies". My Story For You is one that is true to life. It's actually loosely based on the author Tang Jia San Shao's personal life, his ups and downs and his true love story with his wife. There are some differences of course, but I think this is as real as you can get, considering the "entertainment value" for the viewers.

What I like about this drama is it's not solely about romance. It is about friendship and family and life values. The ML maybe one of the most unlucky person you met, but this drama taught you that perseverance and hard work can bring success in the end. Another thing that I like is the nostalgic feeling that I get from the earlier period, like the early days of the internet etc. I also like most of the characters, especially Zhang Yao Yao and Li Ning Feng. They're my favorites. I also like the character developments in this drama too, from being poor and single, to having a family of their own and how the characters faced difficulties and overcoming those difficulties.

This is a long drama, but when you are invested in the characters and their growth, it won't feel as long.

I was looking for a melodrama and stumbled upon this one. I've watched Hawick Lau's other drama and thought that I'd give this one a try, plus it's only 36 episodes, so it should be moving in a good pace. The drama started out strong and kept me interested and curious as to what's going to happen next. However, there are some inconsistencies which I don't know if it's because i wasn't paying attention towards the middle or it's just inconsistencies. For example, Hawick's character is deaf. Most movies or western series that I've watched, when the character is deaf, he or she doesn't speak well because they never heard how other people or themselves when they speak. So they speak in a mumbled or muffled sounds. Hawick's character speaks like a normal person without disabilities. Maybe he's not born with this disability or his hearing is only slightly impaired. He does wear a hearing aid in the first couple of episodes and later on when his disability is found. Another one is the character that i hate the most, Ying Ying. She's supposed to be this huge star and they did show that in the beginning, that she used a body double to escape her fans when she arrived at the airport. But other than that, she seemed to be going everywhere as a normal person would with no disguise and no fans lurking about. This is minor to the story, but kinda bugs me a little. The drama focuses more on the business, revenge and family angle with romance thrown in more like a sideline. So if you're looking for romance drama, this is not the one for you. Other than that, the drama is just so-so. I skipped many parts, so maybe that's why I might have missed Hawick's background story on his disability. Overall, this would not be a drama that I recommend.

I watched The Bloom at Ruyi's Pavilion first, which was not good in my opinion. But, to support Zhang Zhe Han, I'm giving this one a try. In short, I like this one better than Ruyi. The flow and storyline of this drama is more engaging and easier to follow. The characters that Zhang Zhe Han and Ju Jing Yi played here are also more likable, although it lacks the lovey-dovey romantic moments that Ruyi has. This drama is not romance focused. It does have some "awww" moments and the love story built into the flow, but the main storyline is the court politics and revenge. If you are looking for a lot of romance and "awww" scenes, this is not the drama for you. But if you like intrigues, politics and revenge with a bit of magic (the poisoned-army that reminds me of zombies in The Walking Dead), this would be your cup of tea. The pace is not too draggy to be able to enjoy the storyline and see character interaction and development. As for rewatch value, I might not put this on my re-watch list. Once is enough for me ;)

This is a feel good romance drama. The story is not new, may have been made into many dramas, but the cast and chemistry between the ML and FL makes it different. This is the first drama that I've seen both the FL and ML, but I'm impressed with them, particularly the FL. She is not over the top and she makes every episode enjoyable. I also like the gender reversal role in this drama. Contract marriage usually involves a richer male lead with an ordinary female lead, but in this drama, the role is reversed. The little kid who appear later in the drama is so cute.. With drama like this, there are of course some cliche and "huh" moments, but it's not too annoying that it takes away the enjoyment of watching the drama. Soundtrack for this drama is uplifting, ones that you can repeat while reminiscing about romantic parts of the drama, especially the way the ML looks at the FL. As for rewatch value: definitely! I will definitely watch this again in the future.

Entertaining but not the best

Finished watching season 2 of this drama. Disappointed with the ending. The first season was good. Really entertaining, many funny moments that made me laughed. This drama is simple, not many complicated plots, so it's good if you want to watch something entertaining that you don't have to think too much. I like the OST, especially the ending theme song and the song that Zhao Lu Si sang. Costume and design is also so-so, kinda shows that this drama is made with a low budget. The best part is the characters, they are fun to watch. I hate the ending though :)

Fun and easy to watch

Just one word: funny. I laughed on almost every episode for this drama. This is so entertaining to watch, especially when you're just stranded at home in this pandemic and can't go out. Every episode is only about 20 minutes (minus the opening and closing theme song), so it's easy to binge watch the drama. I initially watch this drama because of Xiao Zhan, but ended up liking many of the characters. My first Zhao Lu Si drama and she is so funny in most scenes that she's in. The story is about time travel, similar to Scarlett Heart and The Eternal Love, but this one is more entertaining and easier to digest. I like the ending theme as well, so I never skip the songs.

Fluffy enjoyable drama

After watching The Bad Kids which is super good but very dark, I need to find something that's light and romantic and doesn't haunt me even after I have finished watching the drama. When I saw that the last day to watch this drama on Netflix is July 31st, I gave it a try. I went in without any expectation, I only want to see Roy Chiu's handsome face.

But the story pulled me in from the first place. It's nothing unique, an heir of a department store who is a spoiled brat through and through has to start from the bottom of the company for him to inherit the company. Along the way he meets a staff from the operations department who is able to change him from a spoiled brat to a responsible person. I have to say I really enjoyed the transformation and the chemistry between Roy Chiu and the female lead. There are also some funny moments. The other cast members are also fun to watch, although sometimes they can be really silly.

What irritates me the most is for Zheng Kai Er not getting a bad ending that she deserved. I really hate her and i wished the writer would give her a bad ending, instead of giving a materialistic bitch another heir to marry. Arrrghhh not happy with this.. Otherwise I would have given this drama a 9 or 9.5 rating. This really irritates me.

Funny at the beginning but too draggy

When I started this series, I really like it, especially because I like the handsome Wallace Huo. The first half of the series is interesting and there are some funny moments that make me laugh. Wallace and Tiffany has great chemistry in this drama. The story is nothing special, but I thought it was light and funny. Somehow towards the second half of the drama it became draggy and the FL and ML storyline started to be weird. However, I'm not one that drops drama midway, so I continue to watch, but not seriously watching, only looking at Wallace Huo's scenes. Overall, this is not a drama that I would recommend. There are better ones to spend your drama watching time on. If you like Wallace Huo or Tiffany Tang, you can watch the first half, it's funny, but really wouldn't recommend.

Too long...

Overall this is an interesting story and I have to be honest that the reason I watch this was because of Chris Wang. The first 1/3 of the series are pretty good but it sort of dragged on in the middle and I sort of lost interest along the way. But I managed to finish it. What I like about this drama is that it's light, there's no one villain that really irritates you and makes you want to throw things to your television. It's light and has some warm and funny moments. However, 84 episodes is just too long :) The music is great. I love the OST. As for rewatch value, i wouldn't want to rewatch this. Re-watching 84 episodes takes too much time and I don't have any particular likings to the character.

Love the chemistry

This is the third installment of The Eternal Love. Similar storyline but this time there is gender role reversal, where the king is a woman and women have more power and domineering over men, for example, women take male concubine, male do the cooking etc. I thought it's funny that way and adds a new twist to the story. Most of the major cast from seasons 1 and 2 are still here. They keep the same female and male lead which I think gives continuation to the series. I have watched several c-drama sequels with different cast and somehow that feels like a new drama and I find myself comparing them to the previous actress/actor. The chemistry between the two leads are still there and what I enjoyed most about The Eternal Love series and frankly what made me watch this straight away. They are so cute and funny together. And I have to give special mention to the kissing scenes. There is aplenty and those who shipped this couple will definitely enjoy it. As for me, it's just a bit much, but i think it's the most kissing scenes that I've seen in any c-drama :)

The same music from seasons 1 and 2 is still there (with a couple of new ones) and I like them. As for re-watch value, maybe further down the road when I need something light and funny.

What a Thrill!

When I found out this drama is made by the same director as The Bad Kids, I immediately move it up the top of my to watch list. I like suspense, thriller drama and there's not a lot of them in cdrama. This has the same style as The Bad Kids, although i think the story telling in here is slower, but every bit of the drama is important in the story. The director unveils the story bit by bit and a lot of the episodes kept you at the edge of your seat. I thought this is another excellent drama with an excellent acting from the cast.

A breath of fresh air

New Life Begins is A Breath of Fresh Air for me. This is different from a lot of the cdrama that I've watched. New Life Begins highlights and put more focus on the women characters. To me, this is more of a "feminist" type of cdrama, different from the traditional male dominance (especially for costume drama), which is a welcome change. I really enjoyed watching this drama from the beginning. The characters are interesting and funny. I used to see Bai Jing Ting as a boy since he looks so young, but he looks mature in this drama and very cool! Despite this being a light and fluffy drama, there is also some "drama" or conflict with antagonistic character and I like that. It's not just funny haha, kiss kiss, happy all the time kind of drama. I would definitely recommend this drama.

This unexpectedly becomes one of my favorite

To comply with the government regulation, Love Like A Galaxy is divided into two parts, to keep episodes below 40. The total episodes for the whole parts is 56. I'm glad they did not just cut here and there to keep the drama to just 40 episodes. It would not be as good otherwise. They divided the drama really well. Part 1 deals mostly with the character introductions and background. You get to see some character development, especially the FL and ML. Cheng Shao Shang started out as a rebellious girl that was left by her parents since she was a baby, to the care of her "evil-lish", annoying, materialistic, selfish grandmother and second aunt. The first part is about Shao Shang's life outside of the palace, and more about her family. This is an unexpectedly good drama, one that i will put on my favorites and will re-watch in the future, time permitted.
