The writing for Yeong-Rye’s romantic storyline is bad. She keeps overthinking it again and again, and whenever she finally finds the courage, something always happens to stop her.
But honestly, the writer behind Yeong-Rye’s romantic development must have wanted her to suffer — I can’t think of any other reason. Why is it that every time she finally decides to speak up about her feelings, something or someone always shows up to interrupt? And then she suddenly forgets what she wanted to say until the next episode. Like, come on. This is happening on purpose — just so the lawyer can have his chance.
Enough with this back-and-forth. Seriously, back off with the poor writing in this part.
PS: And what’s with the lawyer’s hair in the last 2 episodes? It literally looks like he’s wearing a wig.
Oh, I get it now… so he can have an excuse to visit Yeong-Rye’s hair salon for a cut! 🤦♂️
My new theory is that YR and her bro’s friend, will eventually end up together or an open-ending initiating…
Yeah, how convenient — suddenly Yeong-Rye just throws away all those years of feelings, when every time she wanted to confess, something always had to come up and ruin it. What great writing on this part so far, huh? (Seriously, the writing for Yeong-Rye’s romantic storyline is all over the place.)
And then, in the end, she ends up with the “you’re ugly” guy? Give me a break.
As I said in a previous comment — if Yeong-Rye suddenly ends up with the lawyer, it would feel rushed and completely unearned, especially with only a few episodes left. We’re eight episodes in, and there are still no real signs of genuine feelings from Yeong-Rye’s side. Love isn’t a switch you can just turn on and off. It takes time to heal and move on to someone new. And Yeong-Rye isn’t the kind of girl who replaces a man like changing a pair of jeans.
The lead actors are kim dami ,shin ye-eun and Heo nam-joon. Jung Hyun role is a support role to the female lead in the drama. Search for official sources , don't rely on what mydramalist decides. At first they categorised him on support role. Past week decided to make him as main role. Nope he's not. Sorry. But he's like a guardian to Yeong-rye. He gives her hope and solutions at difficult times. That's it. No romance from Yeong-rye's side.
The female lead usually ends up with the male lead, especially if the story builds emotional or narrative tension between them (like Yeong-Rye and Jaepil).
But sometimes, writers choose the support actor (like the lawyer here) to represent “a new beginning” or “a more mature love.” It’s less common, but it happens — usually when the show wants to subvert expectations or deliver a more realistic ending.
However, in “A Hundred Memories”, everything points emotionally toward Yeong-Rye and Jaepil — long history, hidden feelings, emotional flashbacks. If she suddenly ends up with the lawyer, it would feel rushed and unearned, especially with only a few episodes left.
My guy Jae-Pil, you BETTER do my girl Yeong Rye right and be less cold and show you interest in her more!Initially,…
Good observation when Yeong Rye was narrating at the end of episode 5, and said: ''Good bye my first crush, Farewell, my first love''. The narrations apparently are from their future self.
Apparently, everyone here has their own preferences when it comes to their favorite characters in this drama series. So, let’s unwrap how things have developed so far up to Episode 7:
Yeong-Rye has always had feelings for Jaepil — and for no one else. I repeat, no one else. Jaepil once had feelings for Jong-Hee, but after she disappeared for seven years, those feelings turned into memories. Over time, he stayed close with Yeong-Rye and gradually developed real feelings for her. He’s more mature now, and Yeong-Rye deserves the kind of serious relationship Jaepil can finally offer — something that wasn’t possible back then when they were both still immature.
The lawyer (yes, the “ugly” guy 😅) clearly has feelings for Yeong-Rye, but there has never been any sign of romantic interest from her side — only gratitude for his help in the past. Jong-Hee once liked Jaepil, but after vanishing for seven years, things have clearly changed. Personally, I believe she and Jaepil will remain friends.
So, to the Twitter and TikTok crowd who keep shipping Yeong-Rye with the “ugly” guy — there’s simply no indication that she likes him romantically, and I doubt that will suddenly change in just five remaining episodes.
I have nothing against the actor — I’m just stating the facts we’ve seen so far.
In the end, maybe no one ends up with anyone, and friendship turns out to be the real heart of this story. 💫
Also I'm not getting where people are seeing this big "emotional depth" between Jaepil and Jonghui. Their…
I agree about what you said about Jong-hui.
Because :
-Yeong-Rye went out at night to find the place called Giant just so she could find Jaepil.
-She ran all the way to buy medicine for him after the fight at Giant (but never had the courage to actually give it to him).
-She lied to her friend Jong-Hui, saying she didn't liked Jaepil and even gave her his phone number so Jong-Hui could have a chance with him.
-She regretted it, and later was the first to call him at home — but hung up because she felt too awkward.
-She went to his school and waited for him outside, at the same time Jaepil left to go meet Jong-Hui at Vivaldi.
-She tried to distance herself whenever Jong-Hui asked her to come along with Jaepil.
-At the picnic, she immediately tried to wipe Jaepil’s hand when it was burned by the ramen.
Yeong-Rye has done more than Jong-Hui, but because she lacks courage, she always ends up stepping back. Even at the end of Ep. 5, when she imagined being a couple with Jaepil, she still chose to let her first love go — for the sake of her friend Jong-Hui.
So if the story evolves for Yeong-Rye to be with Jaepil, I think she truly deserves it.
Cause i've seen on X other da-mi fan accounts shipping the lawyer with Yeong-Rye...... Ok , nope, ain't gonna happen. The "Ugly" saying guy is good for advice not a romantic trope .
Many eyes are on Yeong-Rye, but her eyes were always on Jaepil. I still believe they’ll end up together.
Even though Jong-Hui went on two dates with Jaepil, they haven’t shared a kiss on screen. And honestly, I don’t see Yeong-Rye suddenly developing feelings for the lawyer—sometimes the heart just doesn’t shift that way.
A small observation from Da-mi’s past works: in almost every drama or film, there’s always one co-star with whom her character shares a kiss. In One Hundred Memories, that person is Jaepil (even if it happened in a dream sequence).
It might not be proof, but it’s a pattern—and it makes me think the story will stay loyal to Yeong-Rye’s first love. 💜
I'm very much feeling and thinking the same 💯 way that you are – and I also wouldn't be mad for being wrong…
Yeong-rye ending up with a man that called you "Ugly" all the time? Like come on. Should i start calling girls ugly too ? maybe they fall in love with me.
wait why did Jong Hui run off after stabbing the boss guy 😭 i felt like that was so random and the time jump…
So Yeong-Rye took the blame to protect Jong-Hui. Yeong-Rye was already in trouble with the conductor, who held a grudge against her because of the strike, the insurance, and all that. So it was easier for her to take the blame than for Jong-Hui. Also, the conductor saw Jong-Hui before he passed out. It was an unexpected situation for both girls.
The time jump happened because Jong-Hui disappeared back then, and after 7 years she will reappear, as the Ep. 7 trailer shows.
Enough with this back-and-forth. Seriously, back off with the poor writing in this part.
