I read this book in my teens that described two types of strong people: the first can attack and win a war, while the second one can withstand the deadliest siege. FL is the latter.

Sang Yang is the older brother of the FL of Hidden Love (Sang Zhi). And one of the best friends of Sang Yang is the ML of Hidden Love (Duan Jia Xu). The timelines in The 1st Frost are not exact to the novel nor Hidden Love, e.g Sang Zhi is younger in this drama.

Something lovely about this drama is the continuous use of main theme from the BSO in different context. Some eerie and suspenseful versions inside the doors, happy and light versions when they have resolved a problem or sad version at the death of someone dear. I feel decieved. I guess something is wrong with me because everyone loves this drama. I was expecting a political driven plot inside palace, and it ended up with an overpowered ML (or a not powered ML that still fights the biggies, which made no sense) trying to uncover his mother history, jumping through the hoops everyone made for him and being given star-stickers for it. TBH, I dont understand nor stand all the poligamy, it just seems so forced: one look from the ML, and true love and emotional attachment are born.....3 times???. There is also the hipocresy cause what happened with every life counts (its okey sometimes and sometimes not?. I feel the emotional arch of the ML was one of the few good thins on this show. However my biggest problems are the plotholes. I just don't why it has a 9 with so many of them. Like 7.5, or even 8 I would understand, but a nine?? Speccially considering how rating for Chinese dramas works in MDL. I wouldn't be so dissapointed if I thought from the start that this drama was a medium quality romance-fantasy 😭😭).ITE, another "rise of the phoenix".
First 50 chapters were nice: the actors were really good and the plot had a good rhythm, but it only went downhill afterwards. The story was hurried on, there were loopholes and missing info, way-to-late-introduced characters in the last ten episodes, etc. I am sad that such a good series went haywire.
