Need advice. I love Dilraba, i like Gong Ju and Liu Yu Ning. From trailers the story doesnt look that good. I…
I can only offer my opinion, but the male lead is many things he is not dull. I personally think the further you get into the episodes you get to appreciate him more. The overall story is good and whilst i had some issues with how the drama handled some episodes, again it definitely has gotten better and better. The chemistry between the ml and fl is a huge positive. You get to see different fazes of their relationship develop. I never felt this was a childhood sweethearts trope although obviously they were connected since childhood. Theirs is not traditional cute relationship, there is tragedy and a lot of angst. They do have some cute moments but isn't the main part of their chemistry.
I guess it comes down what you consider to be a nice story though. After some wobbly moments earlier in the drama I'm glad i stuck with it- Dilraba flirting is hilarious to watch she is sooo brazen, - a personal favourite in earlier episodes. Hope this helps!
Errrr...as a Utd fan we support all our players - Maguire is ............. sorry I'm searching for the right word.............ok, I might need to get back to you this
LOL fun fact: minhyun is actually the biggest manchester united fan ever so i bet he was like :( when he realized…
Thanks for sharing that! So, both lead actors now need to win every award possible! Before any cynics suggest that i have any bias - then you would be completely correct😂 ....Hmmm.....I wonder if I can start a petition on mdl????
A United fan - shout out to Mok Sol Hee she is an awesome character no matter what she does through out the rest of this drama! Not that I have any bias........
That was a good way to introduce a story in 1 episode, we got an insight into both leads without giving everything away... I like the air of mystery that combined comedy, yet with sense of menace that has only just started to be revealed.
Only criticism - Kim Do Ha - a Liverpool fan, seriously dude, anyone but them!!!
Unless I've missed the scene in an earlier episode, I've assumed that Wen Shuo is also unaware of his real identity. Based on his behaviour there's a connection towards DZY but he doesn't know what that connection is.
Its hard to judge his age in the drama, is he supposedly too young to recall his previous life? or is it some sort of PTSD and he is blocking the events out.?
Again I've made the assumption he was too young to remember but he looks a little too old now for this to necessarily be the case.
BTW did anyway else get a sense of dread watching every scene that Anning was in? Like from the moment she went to see HY in prison? It felt to me like a giant long goodbye to everyone...
This show has become so fast-paced. I was wondering how Hanye figured out so quickly that the Left Chancellor…
I think the leaps were necessary but it is slightly frustrating given -
Way to many episodes given to the Crown Princess selection Fake DZY has had a lot of unnecessary screentime - bath scenes seriously WTF Even the matriarch episode - was this entirely necessary
HY and DZY can't be together simply because they both feel there will always have this divide between them - The Di Family 80,000 soldiers etc and whilst this was not their fault this is a chasm they don't feel can be crossed. Just imagine a family dinner - awkward springs to mind! I somehow also can't ever see DZY calling the emperor dad!
Come on!.......your killing me! Not you too LMX! Finally the identity WS is out, but wait no it isn't!!! Pretty sure the directors, screenwriters and everyone involved in making this drama is now toying with me. I'm like a puppet on a string!
Whilst this is a tiny bit frustrating the way they have built up of this story line has been really crafted well. To heighten the anticipation when it is finally revealed. I say this through gritted teeth though!
LMX much respect! You might not have liked to admit it, but for first time it feels like emotionally he recognises he just can not compete with HY. I'm sure this admission was also through his own gritted teeth!
The send off "party" - awkward, joyful and yet sooooo bittersweet.
These two episodes felt like the calm before the storm in many respects, there was clearly attempts to pull storylines together and conclude others. Some leaps were taken to do this but with less than 10 episodes left this does make sense.
The only thing that bothered me a little - you have the princess of a hostile nation in your capital - do you not send a spy to watch her? Equally her brother just decides to meet up with her in the middle of the city for a chat?
Well spotted....In terms of the cough....This seems to happen rather a lot in these kinds of drama's - I've just…
Indeed! but then we couldn't witness the cough, followed by the customary blood splatter running down their chin!! Obviously the only way anyone knows its serious is because of the blood splatter! If only there were some sort of trained professionals that could tell us it was bad...... oh wait?
Some of the adjectives were misused to define him like weak, guilty, dull, bland and effeminate. He is an introvert…
I like how a character can be seen completely differently based on the same information! I just don't see the act of treason as being the same as the act of murder we just witnessed. I almost see it as the act treason is like bending the rules as an act of compassion. It is treason - yes but morally it is the right thing to do. Is this ruthless to me no. I think its more analytical
The act of murder, was like like taking a sledgehammer to everything we have been shown about him as a person. This act is morally questionable, if not completely satisfying to watch! I understand his reasoning behind what he did, ultimately this was an act to protect others. This was something I could imagine LMX doing for example.
HY to me, could almost be the most pitiful character in this drama, he unquestionable is always trying to do the right thing and its usually to his own detriment. He takes responsibility for others actions and doesn't hide away from anger misdirected towards him in particular from Anle and LMX . That's why I've had a problem when some have called him weak or passive etc. He has shown many fine qualities through this drama - on numerous occasions - the ruthlessness shown today has been absent. I can understand your well thought out reasoning, however I think we might have to agree to disagree on this point.
Completely agree on your author sentiments, if i had read a first draft of these characters I would definitely be pushing back!! For me, the drama is an adaptation of the novel not a like for like re - telling. It's impossible to satisfy everyone so I would have liked the scriptwriters to be a little braver and just fleshed out the characters i little more - again this is just my preference though.
So HY is locked up in prison and everyone turns up to visit him, yet nobody seems to wonder why his personal attendant…
Errr,,, He didn't tell LMX that WS had been kidnapped right? Does everyone already know? Did i miss a scene or something? Unless everything to do with WS has to be kept a secret, even when he's in danger.... Maybe there's a secret handshake required to share anything about WS???
Casual observations while watching ep# 29:1) Emperor started coughing again after at least three episodes.2) Han…
Well spotted....
In terms of the cough....
This seems to happen rather a lot in these kinds of drama's - I've just completed Destined and that had 2 emperors develop nasty cough's I believe - is there a coughing conspiracy that I'm not aware of?
Out of interest do you think there's a special school that actors can attended to learn the craft of said cough's? How would they be graded on the quality of their cough? The mind boggles....
"...its happening, its happening and then..... it doesn't.... come on HY tell someone, tell anyone,,,,,,please!"…
I think this is the Han's superpower - there ability to all keep a secret!
HY - Wen Shuo identity✅ Empress Dowager - The whole plotting of a massacre thing✅ Anning - hiding the fact she knew who was responsible for the massacre✅ Emperor - he gets a tick because you know he's got a shed load of secrets ✅
Some of the adjectives were misused to define him like weak, guilty, dull, bland and effeminate. He is an introvert…
I think saving a criminals son is less to about being ruthless and more to do with his humanity. The shock was the act he committed not necessarily him being concerned with the consequences. They are 2 separate things. His belief that he is morally right and he will deal with the consequences afterwards - this is consistent with what we've seen. Again i see him less as a gambler and more as someone who evaluates what is right and acts accordingly.
The absence of something for 29 episodes seems a be a stretch to say it was always there IMO. This may be more apparent in the novel though.
Again i loved this addition to HY character but the drama hasn't shown this side of his personality. It was as you said, a shocker which is kind of my point
Obviously in the area of the lack of flaws, who am i to argue with the author, I personally think this makes less rounded(realistic) as individuals but again this is just may take of them. - Anle not being honest with her feelings is pretty low key as flaws go..
The HY moment was a good direction to go, I just question the execution of it the context of the entire drama
The overall story is good and whilst i had some issues with how the drama handled some episodes, again it definitely has gotten better and better.
