I think at his core he just wanted to be able to take care of someone. When he got thrown into a family that is…
Indeed it seems like his feelings developed from a need to protect her - Oh boy! How wrong he was!!!
Your point about being an outsider is spot on - he is treated as the hired help rather than a member of her family, he is a tool to be used. He is not a member of the elite so his thoughts don't have value, even when he's right.

Enjoy the rest of rest of episode 3 when you get chance😊

Completely agree with your assessment. I have written something similar further down in the comments. And I'm…
My question with Hee-in actions is will she blame her diagnose for her initial change in behaviour rather than confronting and acknowledging her real feelings. In every instance today she managed to justify to herself what she was doing with her new behaviour.
Right now I'm more interested in the chaos of of their relationship and the dynamics of the their families, This is both fun and sad at the same time. The villains storyline is developing and I wonder if they are involved in her "diagnoses" Is this part of of the plot or just for comedic purposes? I guess time will tell!

This shocked me, truly. There are people out here who really think he WANTS her to die? Surely, his elation over…
It seems like he had moment of relief from the torment he has experienced whilst trapped in this gilded cage. I think deep down this is a very natural feeling, which many people will experience at some point in their life.
When judging any of the characters i think we should view them as a whole - the good and the bad, Based on some comments not everyone seems to view the ml that way.

As with many misunderstandings it really stems from a failure to communicate. It looks like now they are both fearful of being honest with themselves and then each other. They also reminded us again that there was misconceptions between them about their situations before they married. All this makes their interactions entertaining but also kind of real.

I imagine the scriptwriter assumed anyone watching this would be able to tell that Hyun-woo doesn't *actually*…
I'm sure your right! Personally i hope we move on from this point and focus on what has unfolded since.

I'm glad i'm not the only one! I don't think he should be defined by this one thought - he should be viewed in totality imo, in particular his instinctive actions since. Yet it appears not everyone see's him this way. I agree he is certainly not perfect but he is more real than many characters we see in drama's these days

Whilst I get the anger/hatred towards Baek Hyun Woo to a certain extent - the whole wanting his wife to die thing - but as i said last week i think this is bold by the scriptwriter and a brave choice by Kim Soo Hyun to take this role knowing he will receive criticism. I think he should be praised for not playing it safe.

Also this shouldn't be viewed in isolation as he did save her life in episode 3 and he is already very protective of her with Yoon Eun Seong sniffing around. This is not the behaviour of someone who really wants his wife to die and is more of an example of who he really is and how he truly feels.

So yes, he felt a sense of relief that his wife was dying which is not a good look, but lets not ignore his other actions/behaviour since then. To some extent isn't it natural to have conflicting feelings even if his relief was extreme?

Whilst this episode didn't grab me in the way the first two episodes did, this felt like an necessary step for the drama.

It softened the leads (personally I liked the twisted nature of their attitudes in last weeks ep although for many i get why they wouldn't) and with the flashback moments we witnessed two people who do love each other. It felt telling that both families were completely absent from these moments.

Right now it feels like they are grappling with a new reality, with both rather confused - which is incredibly relatable given the circumstances.

Hong Hae In is like an idiot savant at times - brilliant in her field of expertise, yet clueless in others - it makes her an interesting character as she has the most room to grow.

I think it gave us an insight at the very beginning, they both had misconceptions about who the person they were…
This is purely my guess, but they did fall in love at the beginning but it was based on flawed information, It seems like they failed to communicate and perhaps because she doesn't seem to trust anyone this created a divide between them. At some point he just seemed to give up and stopped trying. The question now is is this the real start of their marriage or is it truly the end??? Time will tell i guess.

I agree that they are changing up the tropes and cliches we're used to, but flawed characters (with "human frailties")…
I'm not sure what direction they will take as its too early to tell. I'm leaning towards a black-comedy that develops into a romantic drama but that's purely a guess . There seems to be a number of different directions they could take at this stage. Kim Soo Hyun's script selection is indeed exceptional so I will trust him with this choice!

episode 2 was hilariouuuus, really love the dark humour... pretty obvious she had to "become" like this and she's…
I think it gave us an insight at the very beginning, they both had misconceptions about who the person they were marrying really was.

He thought she needed his protection

She thought that he was taken in by her beauty /intelligence.

They didn't really "know" each other from the very beginning so the foundation of their relationship was built on sand - given what followed its surprising that they lasted 3 years!!!

Yes! He is just misunderstood - cue sad music with tragic backstory! Even in My Dearest, which was epically good btw, it had the ml being misunderstood. With this drama they are not trying to hide the flaws of the characters. They have laid them out in the first episodes - Its a bold move!

Yeah, the rating on here doesn't really matter at all. What matters is the tvN rating and that's already going…
I often laugh at the ratings and even some of the reviews on MDL. Whilst its expected that opinions will differ but in some instances I'm left baffled by some of them.

I'm equally curious in what direction it takes, so far I've enjoyed what they are doing. Many (not all) of the K/drama I've watched particularly in the romance genre define character growth by simply falling in love - which is often sweet to watch but it also can give you cavities! Maybe I just find some a little too contrived. I think that I'm a little jaded with some of the K/drama I've watched recently simply because so many have lacked originality.

This is a pretty daring drama in some respects. For a drama that is pitched as a romance, to set its 2 main leads as morally and ethically questionable characters is a bold move.

This certainly won't be a popular choice with everyone but credit to all those involved in this drama for actually trying to be different. So many drama just stick to the same old cute and fluffy tropes.

It perhaps explains the wide range of comments on this drama and the drop in rating (not that this should be used as a barometer of quality in my opinion)

The leads are not clean-cut "good guys" they are damaged, jaded and have genuine human frailties. This makes them actually interesting to watch.

Not every drama needs the cool CEO with a heart of gold or the poor beauty who likes everything and everyone.

This drama is at least trying to be different and that deserves credit in my opinion.

of course , we love this ... because we all are fuc*ed up with same storyline where everything is perfect as long…
Exactly! - Watching messed up people in a messed up situation makes this fun.

Is it wrong to like this drama because its kind of a twisted romance?

This one of those times where the misunderstanding between the leads is kind of perfect.

I actually think focusing on the rights and wrongs of each characters behaviour or motives isn't that important . To me, what's important is the the journey of how they resolve this misunderstanding and how their true feelings are revealed.

I'm hoping for more drama, some dark humour and progression of each characters real motives and feelings.

So I enjoyed this episode far more than the previous episodes, the focus on telling the story with emotions at the forefront was powerful and kind of heart-breaking. Which in part adds to my frustration, I was left feeling that this episode just didn't entirely fit with the previous episodes. By and large this drama has focused its self as more romantic comedy so this drama filled episode felt slightly out of place. Despite this, this was strong episode that highlighted what this drama can be at its best in my opinion.

Apologies in advance for my slight rant -

I've seen "It's just a rom-com" mentioned as a justification when I've been critical of this drama. I've said previously, that whilst don't hate this drama its been pretty average in my opinion and hasn't lived up to my expectations.

Great romantic comedies should be smart, funny, moving and even sexy - and at least try to be slightly original. The recent surprising success of the movie "Anyone But You" kind of highlights this. This drama has shown glimpse's of some of these elements but too often its fallen into somewhat tired cliches. Which is why its been average viewing for me. I find it kind of frustrating that "It's just a rom-com" is used as some sort free pass and any kind of criticism or makes you a hater.

My opinions are based on my own viewing experience rather any bias towards the cast or the drama its self. I'm glad others have enjoyed this drama more than I have.

Again apologies for my rant!

Chaos and Dysfunction can be fun.... watching the early unfolding aspects of the different relationship was certainly entertaining.

This was like watching Cinderella after the wedding - instead of the happy ending with Prince Charming we got a nightmare where Prince Charming is actually a jerk....

I enjoyed how both leads are complete opposites and in particular that the FL is cold and distant and the ML being far more emotional.

I liked that this felt original -after watching so many drama's full of cliches it's nice to watch something that feels fresh.

I have early suspicions of the direction of this drama but after 1 episode I'm fascinated where is does go.
