Smile Dropped

I want to preface my review by saying, I know starting a drama after reading its plot and being prompted by the plot to go for it, you definitely watch the whole thing with certain expectations.
I expected this drama would be about a personality transformation. How the transformation would be presented and how it would unfold was the unknown.

That being said, I waited more than anything for ONE very huge moment, every new episode the ML and FL relationship was growing I was holding my breath for it and this is where I got the BLOW.
If you haven't guessed it , I was waiting for the first ...smile. The ML first smile. I mean the whole thing was about a SMILE!!!

It came, but it was not special , it didn't appear in a slow motion or a close up or unforgettable setting. I can't even tell when it happened. I just found myself seeing it appear more and more.
The first smile from the ML was drowned and was inserted somewhere convenient after some tense situation and a reunion that felt too rushed .

It felt like I watched the whole drama about someone who couldn't express himself emotionally and once they got "unblocked" and cured that part was not special anymore. It was ordinary.
Once he became unblocked all the new emotions appeared all at once so the transition just killed the drama for me.

I have to be honest after episode 30 , the show was over. I fast forwarded the last 4 just in case something special happened but I could have stopped and it would have been perfect.

The acting was good. Was it extraordinary ? Some parts yes, especially in the beginning for Lin Yi. Chemistry between the 2 actors didn't work for me. I would put them together as siblings or very good friends but their cute moments with the FL smiling for no reason all the time annoyed me a bit. She felt surprised most of the time by him kissing her, and it felt weird and unnatural to me. Lots of kissing but most fell flat or unnecessary.

This drama was very promising but the storyline got lost somewhere and the smile became irrelevant.
That was my disappointment.

Copy/ paste office drama and misery

First review ever!!!
This is not the most terrible drama on earth ever but it felt like a copy paste of so many other office dramas that I just stopped feeling the need to go on with it, because at some point it just felt like I could predict the whole story.

Even though dear and beloved Xu Kai was part of the cast, there was not one character that stood out for me.
Love triangle, obsession , sabotage , first love, enemy to lovers were all present but they didn't make much difference in the acting and storyilne.

I would say for the 27 episodes that I watched that the plot felt repetitive with the same pattern of problem and resolution coming and going almost at the same rythm.

I wanted to love the drama and root for at least one character or anything else, but ,that is a NO for me.
Don't bother , unless you are here for Xu Kai.

P.S :Also english is not my first language, so sorry for the poor grammar.

Long frost

A beautiful story… but with the wrong ingredients that’s how I would sum up what I think of The First Frost.
I started watching it with high hopes. I was expecting a slow progression, a soft and comforting vibe. But the storyline eventually kept moving in the same direction, over and over again.
The male lead seems to exist solely for the female lead. As for her, she feels trapped in an emotional ice tower, barely capable of feeling and expressing anything at all. Her portrayal was so detached that even when she stood up for herself, there was no real range or depth in her performance. It felt flat.
The flashbacks at the beginning were cute and provided meaningful context for the two leads’ story. But after the fifth flashback, watching the male lead repeatedly prove his devotion started to feel exhausting.
By episode ten, seeing him continuously pit himself out there for her with a falsely nonchalant attitude was no longer heartwarming or heart melting. Instead, it became disheartening.

I eventually stopped watching because the show felt heavy to sit through, despite its beautiful soundtrack and truly stunning cinematography.

Sweet but Stale

When you have two good actors but no chemistry to help them save the show—that’s exactly what happened with Ski into love.

This isn’t a heavy drama (IMO), even though it deals with a life-changing injury and a scandal. To me, it felt more like a series of light obstacles sprinkled throughout just to push the story forward a little.

Main downers:
Story, FL’s acting, and chemistry

Story:
A solid storyline can make up for a lot of annoying scenes and moments in a drama. When chemistry is lacking, a strong plot can still keep you hooked and make you want to see what's next. But after five episodes of unnecessary wardrobe changes in a wintry setting for the FL, lots of pouting, and endless flashbacks, the story just didn’t deliver. It felt like a series of random situations stitched together to make a drama. For me, that’s a big NO.

Acting and Chemistry:
I’m grouping these together to keep it short and sweet.
I’ve seen FL in LBFD and MJTY and she held her own really well there—her acting hit all the right notes. Unfortunately, in this drama, it came off as childish. I couldn’t connect with her character, and the lack of chemistry with the ML didn’t help.
Individually, they’re both capable actors. But this pairing just didn’t work, and their performance couldn’t patch the gaps left by the story.

So that’s it—I’ve decided to drop this one. I just can’t push myself to go further. It was meant to be sweet, but ended up feeling stale and hard to chew.
See you on the next one!

Cloudy and perfect

Love in the Clouds truly surprised me. I wasn’t familiar with the lead actor, the storyline intrigued me just enough but I also came with assumptions about how it would go… and wow, what a beautiful journey. I was hooked from beginning to end.

What initially seemed like just another battle-driven drama quickly turned into a masterpiece. Every note felt right, to the point that I was genuinely sad when it ended. I have been looking for a drama like this for a while. Perfectly sweet, perfectly heartwrenching, some fantasy and with a believable portrayal.

The two leads had exactly the right tone. Their chemistry was believable and natural, and each of them brought the necessary depth to their characters. Whether together or on their own, they fully did justice to their roles.
Not all the cast was as great and strong but it didn't drag it too mych down.

I especially appreciate shows that can evolve their storyline without losing momentum — and even more so when they add deeper layers without losing focus or compromising their essence. Love in the Clouds achieves that balance.

The story left me satisfied from beginning to end.
The soundtrack didn’t always live up to the overall quality of the show, but it’s certainly not enough to bring it down.

Overall: definitely worth watching. I mean Go for it!
