Finally finished season 1 and anticipating season 2... Do we have an airdate yet?
I theorize that ChaeOk is definitely practically immortal after being infected by the Najin. But I wonder if they will take into account her Najin has been mutated into account. Since the General Kato mentioned that her mother was given the Najin first before further mutating due to some serum. The Najin that her mother therefore gave her would've already been mutated. Since in the trailer ChaeOk still maintains a human form, I assume the Najin inside her further evolved somehow to allow for this.

Not sure how TaeSong is still alive. Either HoJae is a reincarnation, or at some point TaeSong was caught by a vengeful Maeda and experimented on.

The reason why they may not seem to recognize each other could be due to time wearing away their memories or for TaeSong whatever experiment was done to him, and for ChaeOk, reviving from the dead...

Title The Atypical Family Spoiler
Don't stress yourself mate ,some people refuse to think. It was a cleary open ending.
I think "free will" is an illusion for this entire drama.

Just like ML can travel to the past but never actually change the present or future, his son is only retrieving things that were already lost to begin with because he used his powers to retrieve them in the past.

Those with time-related powers never actually change anything. What's meant to happen will always happen.

Also, there was one thing that hasn't happened yet.

DDH mentioned during one of their dates that a future BGJ visited and is looking better than ever. I think this might be from a future after they've reunited.

BGJ returning long-term wouldn't affect the future because it was always meant to happen.

It's definitely a happy ending... albeit a last minute happy ending.

They were already hinting at his survival with his mom's prophetic dreams regarding a "special guest" and the reveal of his son's powers gave the explanation to how he survived

Title The Atypical Family Spoiler
Regarding the time-related superpowers, my theory is that time can't actually be changed. Whatever happens will still happen. Even taking time-travel into account.

That's why we always saw BGJ's firefighter senior turn his head as if responding to something before running back into the burning building. He was reacting to the BGJ that learned to interact with the past.

So his mother's dream of burying an empty casket was always going to happen because he himself was lost in the past.

They mentioned how it's possible for powers to mutate or evolve but potentially with a price.

So my theory is that when BGJ managed to fully interact with the past it became harder to return to the present. Or the chaos just caused him to be unable to fully control his ability.

Ofc now with his son's powers being revealed we can say he was always meant to be stuck in the past to be saved by his son's ability to retrieve lost items from the past.

(Tho we can also say those items were lost due to his powers in the first place. Since he grabbed them from the past, during the period between retrieving it from the past and presenting in the present the item of course is "lost". Same goes for his father. Which is why he's in the same clothes as when he saved DDH.)

All in all, 100% happy ending! :)

The mother even dreamt of the "special guest" reunion!
