I don't disagree with anything you said (except YZ influence usually means less screentime for XK🙄).

BUT ... please let us experience our disappointment while being very happy for Xu Kai and this opportunity. They're not mutually exclusive. I came in with the preconceived notion that Xu Kai might actually -for once - get more screentime than he usually does. That he might have the opportunity to truly carry a project.

Not this time. And not likely with Spring of the Blade or Tiandu. Holding out hope for Fire Investigator.

That said, Eight Hundred is a great story with an outstanding cast. I look forward to each episode with anticipation and anxiety.

Is he really "the" villain? There are many more treacherous characters in this drama. Chen Hui's not a black-or-white character. He was a decent person driven to commit indecent acts to save a loved one.

More screentime should be devoted to Chen Hui because he is the central character to this story.

Is the case from decades ago just an excuse to give the dad more screentime? And the dead woman just happens to have been his fiancée? Humph.

Piggybacking on Xu Kai's currently running Eight Hundred is a wise move. They are completely different roles so I don't think we'll feel overwhelmed.

The Legend of Rosy Clouds wrapped October 2023, but they ran into some issues that caused the delay. Something about copyright issues?

Admittedly, Xu Kai's character did treat him badly, if I recall correctly. Somewhat abusive? But he chose to walk the path of corruption.

I was surprised the dad was so quick to suspect him, unless Chen Hui was a rule-breaker in the past. The blood was explained and he might have had money from the roller rink, important papers, even an engagement ring. I know Chen Hui didn't come up with a reason to justify it, but dad was overreacting to a statement by the car owner that is subjective. Maybe the lock was already weak/damaged.

Anyway, that bothered me a bit.

The condoms were a real surprise.

When there are only 20 episodes they need to stretch it out.

I'm assuming that's a great number? I really don't know (but it looks good).

It looks like iQiyi is preparing to launch the costume drama The Legend of Rosy Clouds at the same time as Spring of the Blade. Why would they do this?

It only wrapped last July so the wait really hasn't been that long.
