I think the comparison should be to She and Her Perfect Husband. For very different reasons, both characters are introverts and internal their feelings, which makes them a challenge to play.

In SaHPH, the ML was indeed lost among the multitude of subplots. If you just watched Xu Kai's scenes, you could get through it in an afternoon.

Do you really think he chose Sword and Fairy or Snow Eagle Lord? Or were the scripts revised after he signed up? If he really had the freedom you think he does, why hasn't he re-signed with Yu Zheng?

I have absolutely no idea, but I'm gonna guess the head of Changxi Palace. No idea what his motive would be.
