Is Ae Sun's stepdad a good person? I am watching first episode and have some weird vibes about him.
He is a good person. But he, as well as his new wife, and their kids (Aesun's half-siblings), are no longer around Aesun's life from her teenage time onwards.
oii can someone pls explain how a sun's mom died it was like she knew was gonna die was she sick or smt i didnt…
We can only guess since it's not clearly explained -- but it seems that Aesun's mom knows she's dying. Maybe she can feel that her lungs got weaker when doing the diving as a hanyeo.
In the later episodes, there is a flashback when she tells her mother-in-law (Aesun's grandmother) that she's dying, and asks grandma to help Aesun if she needs. Grandma promised and told Aesun's mom to die in peace. So both of them knew that she was dying.
As a result of the promise -- the grandma decided to help Aesun with the money for them to buy their own boat.
love love park bogum and IU’s acting in here. However, I think make up, costume and choice of actors are a bit…
Yes, got confused in episode 7. I think the choice to cast Moon Sori there is too early. They should cast IU for that specific timeline (the one she gets to be the village chief) and make her a bit older (makeup, hair, clothes etc). But yeah ik it might clash with her being casted as the daughter (Geum-myeong).
I find episodes 7-8 less interesting than the first 6 episodes. Not too sure why. I guess similar to Pachinko, I am more interested in their past lives instead of their near-present lives.
But overall, this drama is still a 9.5/10 for me. I am still looking forward to watch the next episodes next week and the week after. Bring them on!
Yes, because the storytelling method always switching between the past and near-present throughout the drama. He had less presence in episodes 7-8 though.
Even Aesun's mom, and younger version of Aesun, came back again several times on episodes 7-8.
I am at the beginning of episode 7. It's funny to see Aesun ageing well (portrayed by Moon Sori) while that chief and all the hanyeos still look the same. :)
Is the young actress portraying teen Geum-myeong Yoon Seo-Yeon, the same actress that portrays teen Aesun together with Moon Woojin at the market scene? Her acting is so good!
Gwansik - dad
Aesun - mom
Geum-myeong - first child (daughter)
Eun-myeong - second child (son)
Dong-myeong - third child (son) - deceased

As a result of the promise -- the grandma decided to help Aesun with the money for them to buy their own boat.
Not too sure on EP9 onwards since the storytelling method is to keep on switching between past and near-present timelines.
And the daughter was Gong Yoo's daughter in Train to Busan.
