I started this drama for Wu Shiguangābut what they did to his character is nothing short of disappointing. Wu Shiguang is the Tenth Dragon. By every logic in the story, the power and throne of the Dragon Deity should belong to him. He should have been the one to inherit that role. Instead, the entire narrative sidelines him and revolves around Ji Ling and Lu Wuyi, who are somehow portrayed as more powerful than the Tenth Dragon himselfāhandling responsibilities and wielding powers that were clearly meant for Wu Shiguang. He was supposed to receive the final Dragon Deity power from Han Ba and use it to bring rain, saving the mortal world from drought. That was his purpose. That was his arc. Yet the drama completely abandons it. Instead, Lu Wuyi prioritizes saving Ji Ling, while the suffering of the mortal world is treated as an afterthought. And the biggest issue? The screen time. Zheng Shunxi and Chen Duling were promoted as main leadsāthe second couple meant to carry significant weight in the story. But from the very beginning, their screen time was limited, and after episode 16/17, itās reduced to barely 2ā3 minutes. Thatās not just poor writingāthatās outright misleading. If this drama was always meant to center around Ji Ling and Lu Wuyi, then it should have been marketed that way. Labeling Zheng Shunxi and Chen Duling as main leads just to attract viewers feels like a deliberate bait. At this point, Wu Shiguangās character feels completely unnecessary. If Lu Wuyi and Ji Ling can solve every conflict and even wield the Dragon Deityās power themselves, then what was the point of introducing the Tenth Dragon at all? If they were only meant to be supporting characters, they should have been introduced as such. Calling them main leads without giving them the narrative importance or screen time they deserve isnāt just disappointingāitās deceptive. On top of that, it feels like the director deliberately used Zheng Shunxi and Chen Dulingās hype and fanbase to make the drama successfulāwhich honestly comes across as a betrayal to the audience. And in the end, it just makes me feel like my time was wasted.

Veil of Shadows ā My Honest Thoughts Chi Wenās original plan was to awaken and control Jiu Yingās power, not destroy it. He gave the Dragon Scale to Yuan Wu Hou so everything could move in a controlled way. His goal was to use different dragons and powers step by step, keeping everything under his control.
Later, everything changed when Ji Ling accidentally consumed the Dragon Scale. The power became unstable and Chi Wenās plan started to fall apart. So he created a 10th Dragon as a backup plan and was even ready to sacrifice himself so Jiu Ying could be sealed or destroyed in the end.
But even after all the sacrifices of Chi Wen and the other eight dragons, Jiu Ying was not fully destroyed. So it still feels questionable whether their sacrifices truly achieved the final goal.
On the other hand, Ji Ling, who is just an ordinary fox, is shown as the character who made the greatest sacrifice. His loneliness is highlighted as a major emotional sacrifice, but it raises questions about the logic of his long lifespan and importance.
Chi Wen never forced this responsibility on Ji Lingāhe chose it himself. But because of Lu Wuyi, he failed to complete his duty.
The 10th Dragon was also portrayed very weak, which created confusion in the story. Meanwhile, Ji Ling was shown as extremely powerful through the ringās power.
The screen time distribution also felt uneven. After the Star Stone illusion, Wu Shiguang and Wu Wangyan were almost pushed to the background with only a few minutes of screen time, even less than guest roles.
In the middle episodes, too much focus on Ji Ling and Lu Wuyi made the story feel boring. Instead of focusing on their mission, they spent most of the time saving each other.
After the illusion, Wu Wangyanās character lost her playful charm completely, and the chemistry between Wu Shiguang and Wu Wangyan also disappeared.
In the final episodes, Wu Shiguang was shown again, but in a very weak way.
Wu Shiguangās character was also not properly developed. Even when he first met his brother Chi Wen, he didnāt even hug him, and there was no emotional bonding shown between them. Their brotherly relationship was never properly established on screen.
So the biggest question remains: if Ji Ling was meant to deliver the final blow to Jiu Ying, then what was the real purpose of the 10th Dragon?
I am not talking about any actor or actress personally. I am only discussing the characters and the overall story of the drama. I am not hating on anyone; I am just pointing out the issues and inconsistencies in the plot. If these problems were not there, the drama would have been much more enjoyable to watch.
