I also hate the "I need to go away and study for 2 years and throughout that time period we will have absolutely no contact" plot twist. haven't they heard of phone calls and budget flights? ESPECIALLY when one of the characters is supposedly a chaebol and can obviously afford a plane ticket -- or at least, WIFI connection.
