Amm... the mysterious energy they're talking about is the omen relics/murder bamboo slip (this can be revealed on the later ep) it can possess any living thing and do its bidding like to kill someone/do some cruel crimes depending on the chinese character its holding. Like in this first crime, its "knife". And its an old myth or tale that these 7 relics spread crimes to the country.

Amm... actually in the novel, Cao Yanhau reasoning made a lot of sense where it should be a couple of days later after they meet. In his pickpocket job, he was caught and imprisoned by the police then all of his subordinates betrayed him and left him behind that's why he decided to follow Mu dai since she owe him and wanted to be her disciple.

After watching the trailer for ep1-3. Omg hahahaha, they make it more modern than I imagine. Since in the novel its more old chinese setting with phone and internet while the adaptation is full blown modern tech. Its good though cause its more relatable

Agree with these that "even without her, the reference drama is still a disappointment". I'm a reader of that novel and I'm already accepted that there is no kissing scenes but there are chemistry bet. LHC and WAY yet some scenes are not well rewritten and edited to the point that we can tell that there is lacking. Yet, some of the commenters here just ignored the fact that this is different drama and bring unconventional hate to the actress (not you though cause I see your point).

I hope you will give this all a try, its really good without focusing much on your biases.

Yow, I think Liu hao cun is really suitable to be Mu dai, and I hope people won't judge the series based on her past performance from "Be Passionately in Love". We can't put all the blame on her just because she was selected to portrayed that role, there are also the casting director and the staffs who are to blame.

Set aside of all the hate comments regarding to the fl. But as another teaser drop, I'M EXCITED... As currently reader of the novel I see a lot of references and how much effort they make to do this series.

Actually the actress is really good based on her past dramas. And in here, its supposed to be her character where she really can't connect to her emotions. It started when her mother died and their life turned into chaos then she suppressed all of her emotions specially anger (and she can't cry even if she wanted to).
