One of the best in 2025 so far!
ADWAD doesn’t disappoint! It’s sooooo much fun!Starting with the actors/actresses themselves: Liu Yu Ning and Li Yi Tong should get awards for this. They gave top performances and the characters feel like real people (well…as real as can be). Also, The fact that they acted several versions of the same scene but were able to convey their different characters , just deserves applause.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Li Yi Tong being able to change her voice and expressions as naive Song Yi Meng from the OG script vs Song Xiao Yu trapped playing Song Yi Meng is amazing. Liu Yu Ning is very authentic displaying his sorrow, anger, hurt, and his love as protagonist, Nan Heng. The man is a beautiful crier and really shines in the drama’s saddest scenes.
As for the characters:
ML, Nan Heng, is one of the best ML in a Cdrama! He doesn’t start off that way but he steals the show and wins over everyone’s heart before the drama is halfway through. If you like tortured heroes, he’s THE ONE! A 10/10 character for me.
FL, Song Yi Meng, started off very promising but kinda fell off during the middle of the story. Her character development became stagnant and, as a viewer, it was frustrating…..but she finds her way again in the last 2/3 of the drama and becomes the strong, heroic FL we knew all along was inside her. 8/10 character for me
The Support characters were very good. Most had backstories or were going through things independent from the main couple to make them feel real. The villains were villaining…if their only purpose is to incite hate in the audience, then they get 10/10. Character Chu Guihong definitely takes the cake, played wonderfully by
Wang You Shao.
Ending:
There are some loose threads but overall, the ending is a TRUE and one of the better happy endings. The drama took its time to wrap up everyone’s storyline in a satisfactory way and your heart will be happy. Definitely worth watching at least once if anyone is one the fence.
I’ll likely be watching it several times.

Recommended Emotional rollercoaster
Great drama if you are in the mood for a good cry but don’t worry…our couple has a happy ending. If you’re on the fence, give it a go….just have tissues ready.Synapsis: : Please stick with it!!!! without spoiling it too much, it’s about 2 immortals and their cycles of love and hate. It’s about sacrifice, regret, revenge, forgiveness, new beginnings, and old grudges. I say give it until ep 24!!!! I know it’s only 32 episodes and watching 24 episodes is more than halfway and a big chunk of time..but If you aren’t fully invested by ep 24, then drop the remaining 8..but like most viewers, you’ll become obsessed! It can be confusing because the story alternates between Past and present but for the most part, everything comes together.
Characters:
FL : Hua Ruyue is righteous and strong willed. She goes through hell and comes out stronger than ever. You will definitely cry with and for her. There were so many times I just wanted to give her a hug. Honestly, I felt she deserved MORE than what she got in the end but I’m just happy she ended up with our ML in the finale. Not only is Bailu beautiful but does such a great job acting-wise!!! She really is in the top of her game!👏🏼
ML: Bai Jusui is orderly, intelligent, and cold but you can see in his eyes his heartbreak, loyalty, and love for our FL. He breaks our FL’s heart over and over again so I get why she’s angry and hates him. He’s probably just a tragic as the FL, some would say even more so, but despite him hurting her and being the cause of what she went through, I very happy that he gets a happy ending with the FL too. *also, omfg. Joseph Zeng is just gorgeous with white hair. Minimal makeup and styling just made him more regal! Def looking forward to more of his dramas😍
Side characters were mostly done well. Some were annoying but overall, they didn’t overwhelm the main couples journey and they also had engaging storylines. If you watch, you’ll understand.
I’m so sad this drama is over. It definitely was a journey and not for the weak. Very likely to rewatch again. Although it had some hiccups, I still give it a 10/10 because it hit my heart in all the right places.
