Help. Is it worth it? I was waiting for this series for some time, it looked interesting from the trailer, but…
I thought she was fine due to her background. I understood her naivete. I didn't find her annoying, if a little childish. But the recent ep had me like....>_>.

So, it varies with your patience I guess? Personally, at least where they are at right now, I don't think they fit as a couple. ML is just too advanced mentally and....FL is not.

I didn't mind Wu Shuang as a love interest until Ep. 14. That childish tantrum after the third(?) "no" of this engagement debacle was not cute. And she keeps making him feel bad for sticking to his beliefs...which isn't even a rejection or that he'll never marry. But her brain can't grasp that thinking.

Sorry, but her and Yun Qi, putting aside the politics of marriage and the Penta-sect, are incompatible. Their mentalities and maturity are on vast different levels. This guy needs a woman, not a petulant little girl. After 14 episodes, it's clear she's "special" and he likes her, but I still can't see why aside from the narrative making it so and possible attachment from childhood. Most of the time he talks to her, acts like, and is complacent like an older brother to a younger sister because she herself presents that temperament, which is what this relationship should be. She's not wife material.

Even if the romance progresses, the rest of the episodes will need to develop Wu Shuang and do an overhaul with her character for me to buy into this love they have. I can't see why a mature, capable, intelligent, and well-educated young man could fall for a kid (mentally). He has his quirks, but nothing like the FL. There is purity and innocence for females in dramas, sure, whatever, but I feel he's sometimes handling a 10 year old in this case.

Don't get me wrong. I like WS. But not for the ML so far.

Away from that though, LOVING the actual slow burn...which is Yun Song and Yun Qi becoming tsunderes for each other. It's adorable. Go on with your machismo.

And how the sects all love Yun Qi coughandtreathimliketheirfutureleadernomatterwhathesayscough. They literally said "we must protecc!". Same.

Watching up ep 8 so far, and I can see what some people have complained about wushuang. She shouldn't come with…
I thought it somewhat made sense in this scenario. At this point, whether any of them like to admit it or not, they are building a weird comradeship and they've been to the house. Wu Shuang is on good terms with the sister. The house isn't a one person home, so there are people around in and outside it. Pack that with the FL's naivete and own confidence in her strength, I can see it.

Jiu Tian's is actually a stupid one too. The workers at the entrance are literally there. They spotted her. Did he think no one would see it?

this drama actually have a good plot, only the pace is slow . For Xu Kai i will wait until finish :D
It's a dialogue heavy drama and it rides a lot on character interactions. For viewers looking for a quick or exciting fix, it might not be their thing. It's a different genre: drama, crime, mystery.

I'm catching up on the episodes.

Since someone mentioned that they "dragged" the dragon bone storyline, and I expected the worst...

I feel it's just a plot device. To me, it's like the backdrop to have these characters interact throughout the beginning episodes because, frankly, there are FAR more interesting things going on and little narrative build ups that overshadow the whole "dragon bone" schtick due to the interpersonal relationships and interactions of the cast. Which is what ultimately drives this drama because different factions are doing all these power plays and the ML is just involved in the middle of it all doing his own as well.

Maybe because I'm used to similar tones in shows and movies, but yeah, I didn’t see what the big commotion was with the dragon bones. I've yet to get the feeling they're genuinely that important in the first place for me to get invested, unless they are needed to open Kunlun or something. So I don't feel it dragged.

episode 9. She looks so hot and has very good chemistry with Xu Kai. I would ship them.
I'm finding it so hard not to ship them cause I know it won't happen. LOL.

My opinion so far is that this drama reminds me of what we Westerners refer to as noir films. Crime pretty much.

Which means it might not hit for some, I feel it'a a particular taste. I love old noir movies though, so the similar vibe and narrative is bringing me alive, lol.

Wish I could agree with you about great writing. I have known who the real bad guy was since the beginning. Also…
The whole China censorship thing is so stupid and frustrating. Especially since they seem to pick how they feel like at a whim. It has ruined so many good dramas >:c.

I wish they'd be gotten rid of.

How is the styling for this one?
The outfits look gorgeous on him, I'm just saying the patterns and some stylistic choices have a modern twist to them. Like that amazing white long coat.

How is the styling for this one?
I don't think it's that accurate considering some of Xu Kai's outfits are "Republican" but with a modern take.

Honestly, the reviews so far are on the shallower side (prettiness, pace, editing). And part of the drama is mystery. I'm just going to watch it on my own and decide for myself. I'm more for mood and story, so if the characters, acting, and narrative delivers and is ultimately coherent, then I don't see an issue.

How is ancient love poetry? Does it have many sad scenes or unhappy moments? I saw clippings and I need your advice.
I mean, what one finds sad or unhappy depends on the individual. There are sad and unhappy moments, the ML suffers a lot silently, but it's not...it ends well. You just have to watch. It's just angsty.

AMA definitely isn't light hearted drama. It's more a military drama and romance is not on the main spot. Patriotism…
LMAO.

Bruh, you need to take a chill pill.

This sounds like cringe CP fanfic written by creepy shippers lol
Man. You should look at those who ship Xu Kai with Cheng Xiao due to Falling Into Your Smile.

The utter delusion...

Being on my Xu Kai binge I guess, this was my next drama with him. His acting is still on point per usual, and Bai Lu also did good here, but the narrrative...yikes. Too many cuts, bad editing, time jumps, etc. made the drama incredibly disjointed. And I wonder why that was? What happened there...

Don't read further if you haven't finished.

I loved the CP, but I was under the impression that they were supposed to be strong (especially the ML, considering everyone was trying to kill him BECAUSE of the potential threat he posed, he was locked for a REASON by his own father, plus the Demon King seemed revered and strong based on his reputation...you would think his son with the most powerful sword in existence would...follow that path?). Yet both leads appeared severely weakened when going against opponents? That red haired punk shouldn't have gotten away with so much either. I did not feel anything for him with the end of his arc. He was an annoyance throughout the entire thing with his forceful and disrespectful pursuit of the FL, then him constantly aggravating the ML because he's just a jerk wad. I kind of feel like I was happy and cheered when ya know >.>. Hope the novel version of him wasn't this bad.

Based on the reviews, I read that in the novel, Chen Lan was near unstoppable (and FL remained very strong), which makes soooooo much more sense than whatever this drama showed in terms of ability. I get it. Sometimes if you have overpowered characters, the plot has to find an excuse to "debilitate" them so there's an actual sense of threat and to drag the story itself out. Xu Kai's Bai Jue in Ancient Love Poetry went through this twice or thrice I believe, lmao, otherwise that drama would've ended in 20 episodes. BUT. The difference between that and what happened in The Legends was that Bai Jue had badass moments and was still portrayed as stupid powerful and consistently treated as such by every character around him even when he was at 40%. They respected (and probably feared) him. He was the reason why most characters even survived. Lol. Unfortunately, they dropped the ball with Chen Lan here if he was supposed to be really strong. It was rather frustrating. His times to shine were limited in number.

Nonetheless, we had some decent episodes here and there and really hot kisses, so I appreciate that :3. The visuals and costumes were top notch.

For Xu Kai, this is for sure one of his weakest next to Dance of The Sky Empire for me (not acting wise, but general drama wise). Kind of sad because this had potential honestly. Great comcepts wasted.
