It is supposed to be based off the French novel from the 18th century. He likes his peer and only chases the younger girl at the behest of her friend. Basically she tells him to ruin the younger girl's reputation and then you can have me and love me. Hope that clarifies it. So, you are right. He cares for Shi Hyun ;)

Cruel Intentions is based off the book and is a very, very poor version of it. Please do yourself a favor and watch the movie adaptation from the early 90s starring John Malkovich, Glenn Close, & Uma Thurman. Fantastic movie!

Did we watch the same movie? The ML was an absolute terrible person. Yes, it takes two to tango, yet in this case, he was not a worthy guy and I'm a guy saying this. I'm not saying she was a perfect person either. Just that his 'bad' trumps hers all the way to the bank.

That's funny ... there are 10 #s. If you break it down like it is a school grade with a 9-10 being and a 1-2 is an F, then that is why I say a 7 is strong rating. It's like a B- to a B, depending on which side of the fence you are on. Average is "middle", so 5-6. Really easy peezy.

There was a lot said without any words in that closing sequence. Sometimes no dialogue at all can be just as effective and in this scene, at least to me, it was. She was soul searching and perhaps finally found serenity in the knowledge she would be content on her own. The most important thing this film did was not to lead the audience and let them have their own feelings and thoughts about the film. To each their own.

It got a 7 out of you at least. Pretty strong rating on a 1-10 scale. As for relationships, you never can tell who will be attracted to who and for what reasons. The movie made it very plausible imho.

I see ratings go to stuff very liberally that often don't deserve it. If you want something different and NOT cookie cutter material, then watch this film.
