I love the two side couples so much-- JiAh and GwiNam could seriously have their own drama, the storyline would be fantastic with a miser leading male instead of the typical throwing-money-around-like-its-trash chaebol.
I just need them to have a bunch more scenes in the final episodes.
Okay, yes this is a seemingly predictable workplace romance drama-- but dang are they good at subverting cliches-- I will give an extra point alone if the writer follows through with having MiSo staying at her position and not going off to "find herself" in the final episode. I hate that trope so so so much because the girls never do anything but travel around in a montage and then come running back to the boys. Instead, MiSo is owning her position at work, one that she has worked incredibly hard at, and that she is amazingly adept at. Just overall some real props to this drama because I was completely prepared for (and bored of) the "find myself" storyline and now I'm just super excited about the drama all over again.
I'm currently on ep6 and I have to say that i have never disliked a "likable" second lead more. This dude is so cringy and creepy. He makes fun of the other lawyer lady's looks all the time and is so weird about his crush on SooKyung. He uses his position as her boss to punish her for not liking him back- even taking away her bonus and having her do menial tasks in order to spite her. He is the epitome of horrible.
Anyways I just had to come on here and rant about how horrible he is. I love everyone else in this drama. I also need to get myself to a Korean restaurant stat.
I stopped watching the American version season 2 please someone tell me that Donna and Harvey become a thing.
The drag out of that relationship is beyond ridiculous (I also stopped watching a couple seasons ago). I'm all for slow burn couples, but the writers have really messed up with delaying Harvey/Donna as long as they have. I'm tempted to watch this remake just because I'm hoping the typical one season format guarantees they're together by the end :P
This is a soft drama with a sweet romance at its center. Though there are elements of makjang, it effects the drama very minimally--what this drama does a great job at is subverting cliches, I was surprised over and over at the maturity shown by our leads and their ability to avoid big misunderstandings by talking and listening to one another (what a novel idea!). Overall a really great watch that I loved waiting for week to week, 8/10
All throughout episode 14 I kept hoping they'd pull a ditch day and go have some cute couple time at a beach (what can I say, I love that drama cliche).
While reading some posts for currently airing dramas, I've noticed that many comments are becoming more and more…
I actually just came back to dramaland a couple months ago after a long hiatus, and I noticed the same thing! Especially the critiques to just about every female lead's acting. I know for a fact that I am a lot more lenient with my male actors and I *think* that this is true for a lot of others, even if they don't want to admit it. I've seen so many people praising various male leads for "acting with their eyes" while tearing down the female leads for having no facial expressions....
Honestly, she's only 18 and she's already got one of the longest list of kdrama roles I've seen--to many more years and many more dramas with this extremely talented actress!
Are there weird awkward kiss scenes like bring it on ghost because of her age?
There actually not bad. Not as stiff as some kdrama kisses, not as passionate as others. I personally love the two leads chemistry so that makes up for any stiffness her managers/directors have forced into their kiss scenes.
I am positively surprised by a seriously good writing in episode 13. :) I really liked Lee, he was so honest and…
I agree with everything you said, especially the part about Ji Soo Ho. I know a lot of people have been saying he acts to possessive (which, side note, not uncommon in dramaland, not saying its okay, but come on, we've all learned to deal with it), but I loved that we really got to see the psychological growth he's gone through. He truly trusts GeuRim and waits for her to come and speak to him when she's ready, rather than having him running around in a jealous unnecessary-love-triangley-rage.
22 years later and this drama still holds up. Not many dramas age well but this one had me hooked from episode one! The dialogue in this drama is incredibly strong- there are so many scenes throughout this drama that most shows would have glossed over, giving you an ellipse to commercials just as important things are being said. But this drama actually lets its main characters talk to one another, fight and misunderstand but also forgive, move on, and have a stronger relationship for it. Its soooo refreshing.
I was sooo annoyed in episode 11 when TaeRi was yelling at GeuRim, and when GeuRim was about to stand up for herself, PD pulls hers away to "protect" her (and then yells at her for not standing up for herself, but I digress) and then I was so annoyed in ep 12 that the same thing was happening, except this time it was SooHo trying to pull GeuRim away and "protect" her-- EXCEPT the drama turned things on its head and let the female lead pull away from SooHo like, "excuse me, I was about to talk back some smack to this psycho" and actually let her stand up for herself (instead of having to rely on the male leads to fight her battles for her, as is typical)!!!
I know some people have not been liking this drama, but I am personally loving it. Yes, I think TaeRi and the mom are super annoying, but every kdrama has its villains so I'm not going to complain about their presence. I do think that as villains they have some dynamic that is not usually lent to female villains in dramaland-- TaeRi is attempting to claw her way back to fame and she's made her peace with sacrificing her dignity to do so (not that its okay, and while I'm not sympathetic I at least see her reasoning-- and its so much more refreshing than the typical "i'm just hella in love with you i refuse to let you go no matter what!!!" reasoning) and the mom has lived in a hellish marriage probably for decades (this causes our male lead to sympathize with her and while i think she's ridiculously evil i also understand his years of messed up loyalty, he had two terrible parental figures but she was the better, or at least more present, of the two).
I've only watched through episode 11 (not sure if I'm going to finish...) but the thing that bothers me most about the female lead is that she apparently does just fine fending off all the monsters craving her blood for 15 years (or something), but as soon as she sees Son OhGong again she becomes helpless and in constant need of rescuing. That fault lies not on the actress, but squarely on the script writers- if you're going to lead with a badass female character, you can't drop-kick her personality after episode 2.
Okay, I know we still have the home stretch of episodes left (typically when the most misunderstandings happen) but so far this drama gets major points for having its leads actually talk to one another and work things out instead of making drama out of anthills
The "Oh my, I had forgotten but we were each others first loves!" is a trope that is beyond corny and improbable but I love it every time- any flashback to meeting as children usually gets me in that stupid "ah its truly fated" kind of way :P
I just need them to have a bunch more scenes in the final episodes.
*deep breath*
totally.....
*beginning to shake*
completely
*starting to rock back and forth in desperation*
fine!
