This was a very strange mesh of genres that didn't go together at all. The first 7 or so episodes are pretty cute and while a good amount of cliches are avoided (such as how MinHyuk's family kind of disappears and we don't have to deal with "she's not good enough for the family" and "date this girl instead" tropes) this show promises girl power and doesn't entirely deliver (never going to be over MinHyuk hiding a tracking device in her necklace and never telling her, wth dude?!). From episode 8 on, I ended up skipping almost every scene except the ones involving our two leads being fluffy and cute because that's one thing this drama got right: rom-com cheesiness and good chemistry between MinHyuk and BongSoon.
I started all of these except Bride of the Century. I finished SUFBB and IOTL but the others I all dropped, some for discernible reasons and others because I think I just got bored. Anyway, I really enjoyed this post! It takes away some of that irrational guilt I feel when I don't like the 'popular' drama
I think the definite moment the storyline starts going from amazing to kinda meh is when the writer (of the drama not the comic) started using the tablet as a crutch. Before that, the plot was wonderfully constructed and tight, but then gaping plot holes started appearing and rather than thinking of a good way out they just used the magical-problem-solving tablet to write themselves out of every situation...which got pretty boring. BUT the first half was definitely mindblowingly good
Wow, I did not put together that she was Rachel in Heirs until just now! I knew I recognized her in DotS but I couldn't place it! she was definitely one of the better parts of Heirs!
I'm still dying over that scene where all the doctor's call moyeon on sijin's death day! that was hilarious, I literally choked on my laughter, oh my goodness, very cute finale, i love the humor in this drama!

lmao, that scene was hilarious, as was the one when the girls were talking about the guy they used to like, this show is at its best when its doing humor :D
Whether you're liking this show or not you've got to at least give them props for actually getting a guy with an american accent to play the american villain...it's always so funny as a viewer with english as a first language when some random accent shows up for an american or british character and you're just sitting there like....naw.... :P
But really, this drama features the most non-korean-actors and korean-actors-speaking-english that i've ever seen and for the most part I've been pretty impressed. Most of the foreign actors are doing an okay job when they're usually just horrible in dramas and I just love SJK slaying his english!
The characters in this version are maybe the best, especially Taliw, I love how strong and independent she is, not nearly as clingy/obsessive as other versions of Kotoko. And King...aigoo, definitely the most I've ever rooted for his character, I feel so bad for him, come on, give us a season two so we can see him finally getting the love he deserves! The pacing in the middle was really slow, I think they introduced both of TenTen's secondary love interests way too early, but other than that this version was adorable and I loved it!! I mean the chemistry between Mike and Aom, gah, it's right up there with Ariel and Joe's from ISWAK!
I really like this article for reminding us to think beyond what is presented to us in popculture- to not just accept stereotypes and ideals from tv shows. Just as with too many shows worldwide, women in dramas are too often presented as only being lovable if they look or act a certain way.

I will say that I know of a few dramas that have turned the stereotypes on their heads, like the ending with Dream High's secondary couple- and this drama also deals with how pressurised idols are to maintain ridiculous ideal when it comes to their figures. Another example is in My Lovely SamSoon, because while she is obsessed with her weight (which is barely above average, certainly still in the healthy range) he loves her completely, "imperfections" and all
I was unsure after episode one but now six eps in I can safely say i am really enjoying this drama-- and that little girl is just stealing the show aigoo so cute
Dream High was probably one of my first ten dramas but it was the very first one that burned me ship wise and I am still bitter about it 4 years later :P

Personally, I really loved this drama. It's the only family drama I've ever completed, so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but it's really adorable with four different love stories that keep the plot interesting through all 58 episodes :)
Aigoo, episode five though, like Togon, come on dude, you literally saw her without her shirt on and you still can't piece together that she's a woman?!
