I intentionally waited for this series to be complete before leaving my comment, and now that I have binge watched the entire thing in less than 24 hours, if I didn’t know it before, I know it now, that the people on the Internet, half of them do not use their entire brain to think, and the other half have a serious lack of sense of humour.
First of all, to those saying that they made him funny to excuse his red flags, did you watch the first episodes with me or did all that humour just fly over your head? You could tell that he was a fun person, and there were jokes and humorous expressions right from the first episode. Yes it was contained, but they were there. If anything, the so-called funny part when he was drunk was very cringe, and I skipped most of it. I couldn’t bring myself to complete those because they were so exaggerated, and not at all what fits his personality - or hers. I guess that’s what made people think it was some kind of plot to excuse the red flags.
Secondly, to everyone calling him a red flag, I hope you’re calling her a red flag as well. She cooked up an entire background, out of love yes, but it was still deceit, and in the same vein, He learnt of the background, covered it up out of love, but used it to his advantage - still deceit. I mean… from the first episode, my girl lied to him, he played along for a while, then exposed her, that should have told you everything you needed to know 🚶♀️🚶♀️
Excusing the fact that she came from a place of lack of affection from her family should be enough for you to also excuse where he’s coming from as well. Imagine if you were someone of his financial status, and this person that you thought was it for you had made up majority of who they were, surely you’d be hurt. We saw through out the movie how he protected her - even when her lies were about to be exposed -, and how he always fought for her in secret. She literally said she thought someone was helping her! You could call it anything you want, but the way I saw it, It was his form of expressing his love.
It was a very terrible thing of him to say ‘if there’s anything that would make us unhappy, don’t say it’, but at the end of the day, we are only human, and sometimes we want to hide, or run away from our problems. You need to understand that he was also trying to protect that bubble of pure love and romance, the very same way she tried to with her lies.
I could go on and on, but at the end of the day, he’s a good man Savannah, and so is she.
I love that this was quite realistic. It wasn’t all rainbows and happy ending. It showed that the presence of good intentions does not negate bad results, and actions have lasting effects. She loved him, and wanted to be with him, but she lied. He loved her and wanted to protect what they had, but he used her.
This is a definite watch for anyone who is interested. I quite loved the chemistry between them. Zhao Lusi is my girl for sure, and William Chen played his role well. Although I would have loved if his hair was a little longer. She didn’t lie when she said what she said about his hair 😂😂
