That's how it was in the Thai movie and skin whitening is huge in Thailand. It's just weird that this version…
Color-aside, the vibe I got from the Thai movie is that she's not really ugly, she's just awkward and puberty have hit her hard until she blossomed to a beautiful lady. Believe it or not, most SE asian kids really starts with dark skin and eventually gets lighter skin either from whitening products or just by really avoiding sun as they get older.

sorry but this drama jus screams CLICHE ! ugly girl falls in love with popular boy and gets a transformation.…
Seems cliche but my fave part in the Thai movie is when they separate ways, got successful, and eventually met each other again on TV. Watch it, its really good.

I like it. I really hope there is a time jump early on and the ending isn’t them getting together as adults…
I recall watching that part in the Thai movie and it was so weird to see them fast forward to the future in like the last 10 mins of the movie.

Is no one else bothered by the fact that they tried to make the female lead unattractive by giving her darker…
That's how it was in the Thai movie and skin whitening is huge in Thailand. It's just weird that this version decided to adapt that part since Chinese aren't really dark skin to begin with unless they are active in outdoors or sports or something.

Well, since these are two people shoved into jobs they were neither interested in nor even knowledgeable about,…
This was based in the Japanese drama titled Jimi ni Sugoi, and believe it or not, it was really written that way where FL's way of proofreading is by going to the source itself. Unusual it may be, but let's not forget that this is also from a manga so some scenes can be unrealistic.

I found it quite slow paced and a little on the boring side. The focus was more on their jobs than their relationship…
Considering that this is based from Jimi ni Sugoi, then don't hope for any full on romance but more on career and self development

Just drop it and go watch AMA!
AMA would have been good but they decided to stick with the military whatever genre, and almost all of what could have been great romance scenes, were CUT. I'm one of those people who watched AMA to see XK/BL relieving their Legends chemistry but nada, didn't get anything.

I'm wondering if it's a wig.
Weirdly though, I like that messy kind of hair. Haha

2 and 3 doesn't count because they were never supporting characters, those were cameos whose presence in the story don't hold that much weight except for viewers to squee. Moreover, those may be just cameos, but I'm pretty sure that everyone paid attention to them. After all, most cameos are done by famous people. As for the rest of the list, well, yeah, I never really paid attention to them when I saw those dramas and only when they got bigger roles and I searched for their past works, and I was like, "they were there?!"

When it comes to amnesia dramas it is interesting for me cause I wach them with an experience of having one -…
Don't know if it's right to say that having an amnesia sounds cool, because I'm sure its not, but still a surreal experience

Thank you for writing this article. I'm a new fan of Hu Ge and NIF instantly made me a fan to the point that I watch it twice right after I finished the entire series. I've seen a lot of his interviews and you can see that he's smart, quick-witted, and very humorous, he looks so easy to interview because he really gives interesting answers. I really hope a good script will come to take him back to drama land, but if he's enjoying movies, then I sincerely pray that he gets good scripts to show-off his acting calibre. Oh, he looks so cute when he speaks English as well.

My Love from Another Star will always be one of my favorites, I've always been a fan og JJH way back Windstruck/Sassy Girl years so it was easy to watch it. Anyway, it's quite odd to see that there are drama watchers who aren't into Kdramas since 'everyone' thinks that Koreans started a lot of drama trends/tropes, which is totally not. Personally, my foray to Asian dramas started with Taiwanese (Meteor Garden) then Japanese (Good Luck) and Korean (Lovers in Paris). It was only THIS year that I started with Chinese dramas and only this year that I managed to watch from start to finish bc I mostly dropped a lot of them.

Don't know if this comment is directed at me, but the characters I used as examples where mostly those who were in a relationship with the ml/fl , it's different from unrequited love because the characters have mutual affections at the beginning UNTIL another character entered that cause their love story to end.

Kim Shin Hyuk (Choi Siwon) in She Was Pretty
While writing this article, I really avoided second male leads classified under 'second lead syndrome', but concentrated to stories where the fl/ml had mutual or relationship with the second lead.
