I just don't understand it. What was that writing??? Did the show get censored by some higher-up in Korea or Netflix? It makes no sense.

Yep! It's the first Netflix kdrama that I've finished this year. I won't be rewatching, but it was entertaining enough.

Imagine if they leaned into the gangster thing. Made the male lead edgier, sexier and a little more morally grey. That would have made this a really good show. Instead, they made the male lead so boring and bland.

I wish the male lead was more of a yearner. The stoic thing really took away from what was otherwise a decent show. I think the show would have been a lot better if there was more sexual tension (note, not sexual content or skinship. I'm not a fan of that at all). I mean, if they wrote it so that it was obvious that the male lead was very attracted to this woman and was holding himself back to keep her safe. That second kiss of theirs when he was supposedly trying to convince her that he really was her boyfriend was so bland! The female lead did a lot of the heavy lifting as far as communicating some level of chemistry. Also, the dialogue between them was horrible. He probably said no more that 10 sentences to her the entire show. What the heck?

The inexplicable resolution of that tension is what is making this show difficult for me. I find episode 4 unwatchable.

First 2 episodes were excellent. Definitely gave old-school k-drama feels. The third episode was meh. Struggling to finish episode 4.

A few minutes into episode 3 and what the heck is this?! I need female lead that I can at least respect. Where is her pride!

The 12 episode format is ruining endings. Writers are forced to rush to tie up loose ends and it always ends up sloppy. American streaming platforms have ruined Kdramas. For example, a "My Mister" would not have been possible in this era.

This show could have easily carried 16 episodes.

Did he cry because he thought he lost her? Or because of everything, including the tragedy of losing his brother?

I hope Dong-man does not return to that Director's group. Twenty years of them using him and looking down on him. Just nasty people. They watched him drown for 20 years!! So yes, this show is excellent!!!

Agreed! The 7.6 rating on MDL is a travesty.

This show is really really good. The performances are stellar.

What's with all the smoking. It's difficult to take seriously.

The ending of ep 10 was ridiculous. But, lean into the fun! Lean into the feels! Be entertained! 😁
