Is it worth to watch? I'm interested because of xiao zhan but dont really like the story
There are some terrible and annoying characters, but also some wonderfully human and touching moments. Xiao Zhan is really great here, and probably one of my favourite characters that he's played.

I'm not sure what the foolish ex-husband possesses that the best friend is drawn to—money perhaps? like bro…
Sometimes love is not logical, otherwise "Bad Boy" types wouldn't be a thing, lol. I think she really gets him, relates to him on some levels, and she also has a soft spot for him from their childhood because he was the only one who didn't look down on her and her background. All that being said, I can't stand the guy, and agree, there's no accounting for tastes!

She basically raised her sister, and is very involved in her sister's studies and her sister actually whacked the ex after she found out he cheated on JB! That's not what people who have little to do with each other's lives do for each other. They lead "independent" lives insofar as they don't want to burden each other with their problems, but they obviously love each other a lot and not estranged. The sister might be annoying, but her behaviour doesn't feel out of the ordinary.

Can we hit them?
How about an 18-wheeler semi-truck? 😜 (I can't recall the last time a character (the ex) made me feel so violent, haha)

Adding that I am in the minority in that I don't mind the hockey kids and the uncle. We see SY's home life, so this is showing JB's family life. It's also part of the whole "slice of life" element -- everyone has annoying interfering relatives, lol. That being said, I don't need them either -- the ex is frustrating enough!😅😂

The confrontation between SY and the ex in episode 21 is funny. I think it was meant to be serious but that big…
Usually the ex's rants are meant to be serious, but I'm pretty sure ep 21 was meant to be comical (esp. considering the background music) -- the ex was so unhinged at the idea of SY working for them, hiring him, but just as offended and enraged that he turned down the interview offer, and his agitation and blatant hypocrisy and unreasonableness at being upset either way, was funny and so ridiculous.

YES. I desperately want her to absolutely lose her sh*t at everyone, but especially her ex!

OMG, ep 25 was so stressful!!! I love this show, but it's starting to drive me utterly bonkers how JB always lets her ex go on and on with his garbage views and his hypocritical behaviour, without setting the record straight while also giving him a good hard punch in his smug face. I'm sympathetic -- she's tired, and probably doesn't want to waste any more energy on him -- but she really needed to put the ex in his place and draw a hard line on his constant interfering and overstepping. What the ex did to SY is awful and enraging on so many levels, and now we have to wait and worry about what's going to happen to him. GAH!

For a very brief moment a few episodes ago, the ex's unhinged unreasonableness regarding JB and SY was kind of hilarious, but for the most part, every moose dropping that comes out of his mouth just makes me want to hurl him off the top of a roller coaster or something, lol.

*Breathe* 😅

Big fan of Yeobeen; but ep. 1 seemed very cookie cutter boilerplate story. Should I continue shows under MDL 8.5…
I would definitely give this a chance. The story is really original and the furthest thing from cookie cutter, but you need a bit of patience to see where it takes you. The ratings seem a bit skewed from extreme downvoting by fans of the original version.

I'm sorry to hear this, but I can totally understand. I hope you'll give the original a chance one day, maybe in a couple of years, lol! :)

They don’t find it “useful”. They ones who are clicking that are fans of the original who never intended…
Yeah, I agree. It's pretty disappointing behaviour. Even the original cast is supporting this new adaptation; there's plenty of room in Dramaland for both. And given all the genuinely bad shows out there, this one doesn't even come remotely close.

It's really disappointing to see so many people finding a review that gives all "1s" somehow "helpful". Fans of SOOD might not find this remake as fresh as the original, but a "1" is clearly ridiculous trolling. There is nothing in this drama that objectively warrants a "1". I watched the original and loved it; I'm watching this remake now and enjoying it a lot too. There are some things I liked better in the original and some things I'm liking a bit more in this one. I like the casting for both -- if anything, I found myself warming up to this cast more quickly than I did for the original.

It's okay to like the remake less than the original (and vice versa), but this behaviour and everyone supporting it is silly and absolutely infantile. Instead of helping people discover the joys and magic of the original through this adaption, i'm sure it's totally turning people off instead, which is a real shame.

So far I'm enjoying this as much as the original! I would say the music is perhaps the only thing that I know will be tough to replicate for me, because unlike the original, I am not familiar with older Korean songs and don't really understand the language -- so this isn't the fault of the drama at all, just something that sometimes can't be helped when watching international shows.

If you haven't watch any of them between original and remake then I will suggest you to watch the original one…
That's a fair point! Especially for a complex story like this with the build-up near the end. I will be curious about the reaction from viewers who discover the original because of this, whether that magic and excitement is lost when they watch another retelling of the same story. (In my experience, it can still be good, as long as "expectations" are set aside, but I know that can be hard.)

Loved the original, but really looking forward to this one too. I didn't realize it was landing today -- too many shows to watch and not enough hours in the day!

People who have watched both seem to like the original more so far, so I would almost give the opposite advice, to enjoy this one without being coloured by the original, and then watch the original. If they still like the original better, at least they were hopefully able to enjoy both. (I watched the loved the original, but also looking forward to this one and will try to watch it without the comparison...). I would also try to give some time between them, so that one isn't so fresh in my mind :)
