Big fan of Yeobeen; but ep. 1 seemed very cookie cutter boilerplate story. Should I continue shows under MDL 8.5…
I would definitely give this a chance. The story is really original and the furthest thing from cookie cutter, but you need a bit of patience to see where it takes you. The ratings seem a bit skewed from extreme downvoting by fans of the original version.
They don’t find it “useful”. They ones who are clicking that are fans of the original who never intended…
Yeah, I agree. It's pretty disappointing behaviour. Even the original cast is supporting this new adaptation; there's plenty of room in Dramaland for both. And given all the genuinely bad shows out there, this one doesn't even come remotely close.
It's really disappointing to see so many people finding a review that gives all "1s" somehow "helpful". Fans of SOOD might not find this remake as fresh as the original, but a "1" is clearly ridiculous trolling. There is nothing in this drama that objectively warrants a "1". I watched the original and loved it; I'm watching this remake now and enjoying it a lot too. There are some things I liked better in the original and some things I'm liking a bit more in this one. I like the casting for both -- if anything, I found myself warming up to this cast more quickly than I did for the original.
It's okay to like the remake less than the original (and vice versa), but this behaviour and everyone supporting it is silly and absolutely infantile. Instead of helping people discover the joys and magic of the original through this adaption, i'm sure it's totally turning people off instead, which is a real shame.

So far I'm enjoying this as much as the original! I would say the music is perhaps the only thing that I know will be tough to replicate for me, because unlike the original, I am not familiar with older Korean songs and don't really understand the language -- so this isn't the fault of the drama at all, just something that sometimes can't be helped when watching international shows.
If you haven't watch any of them between original and remake then I will suggest you to watch the original one…
That's a fair point! Especially for a complex story like this with the build-up near the end. I will be curious about the reaction from viewers who discover the original because of this, whether that magic and excitement is lost when they watch another retelling of the same story. (In my experience, it can still be good, as long as "expectations" are set aside, but I know that can be hard.)
Loved the original, but really looking forward to this one too. I didn't realize it was landing today -- too many shows to watch and not enough hours in the day!

People who have watched both seem to like the original more so far, so I would almost give the opposite advice, to enjoy this one without being coloured by the original, and then watch the original. If they still like the original better, at least they were hopefully able to enjoy both. (I watched the loved the original, but also looking forward to this one and will try to watch it without the comparison...). I would also try to give some time between them, so that one isn't so fresh in my mind :)
Dying in episode 7. 😂 I totally relate to the disgruntled mom, and the entire exchange between XZ and his dad was hilarious, but so spot-on in the depiction of thr family dynamics and their absolute cluelessness. All the show's depictions of the idiotic/chauvinist mindsets of different types of men are infuriating but well-done, because they weave it so well with the keen observations of the women who sharply rebuke their behaviour and attitude. I only wish the FL was more vocal in defending herself (that just because he is like that, doesn't mean everyone else is). But I get it - she is tired of dealing with him and it's easier to just not engage. I also don't love the attempt (intentional or not) to elicit sympathy for the woeful loser (soon-to-be) ex-husband, but I get that it's trying to show his regrets and perspective too.
I am only in the early episodes, and I can't stand the husband's world view on relationships and all his assumptions. Just because that's how he is, doesn't mean everyone else is the same. The FLs insights about him are absolute fire. And the BFF's comment about how he has the guts to cheat but not the guts to admit it. So good! (I know they get together later, and i can totally see that, because they seem more suited to each other, since she's not a long term commitment type either.)
Just started ep 1 and really enjoying it. Also great production values for a modern c-drama. Great mood, colour palette/filter, direction, and details -- almost like a movie. Also, the FL's speech to her soon-to-be ex-husband when he remarks on why women lose their cuteness as they age: "It's because of men like you. You grow old in age, but your mind doesn't mature. You're old but immature, you also can't accept women that are more capable, smarter, and with more ideas and opinions than you." 🔥
Can be that biatch more disgusting and deplorable 🤬🤬🤮🤮
From her perspective, it's kind of understandable though. She thinks the FL was scheming against her all these years and the guy offered misleading "proof"
I’m missing the part where main lead is medical student…he’s a body guard.
It's also mentioned in ep 7 when the FL and "friend" were looking at his info on the USB thumb drive. It mentions his medical training. It comes up again in ep 7 when he is arguing with his friend, who mentions that he gave up medicine to seek justice for his father's death.
So far I'm liking this much better than Maid's/Bride's Revenge, even though it has a similar mood and vibe. Hopefully it will get a better ending too. Great production values again for a mini-drama.
Edit: For those who liked the OTP from Maid's Revenge, they are in a modern mini-drama that just started airing called Forever Love.
